That's what I hear but in all honesty if their animals are getting abused why not rescue them and therefore purchase them....its like an animal shelter. My turtle has no deformaties, no shell rot, pyramiding etc. Therefore I think its nothing more than a lie that somehow has caught fire.

Dont buy from turtlesale/turtleshack they abuse animals!... and most of the time your turtle will have a deformitie

Yeah that seems to be the general consensus around the youtube/turtle world. I honestly have not had a problem and a guy I talked to said that their policy is turtle guaranteed to be alive and healthy or they replace it and give you money back. I dont know maybe I was lucky or the actually care for their turtles. Either way as far as my personal experience with them, so far their good in my eyes.

Also did not have too much of a choice since Texas Map Turtles were not available anywhere else...
