Love Foghat, but if I was just passively listening to this song, which I have done in the past, I would have never known this was a Take me to the river cover. More used to Talking Heads version which was the first one I heard in 78-79, but I would never want the Talking Heads to cover I just wanna make love to you which is and always will be a foghat staple, especially the live version

Im a rocker, always have been but Talking Heads added a completly new sound to this song. In my opinion as much as I like Foghat this sounds so much like everything else theve done. Same guitar riffs...etc. You know what they say..opinions are like assholes; everybody has one. That's mine.

@ARVINABATT True, and everyone is welcome to theirs as well. This is still my favorite version though. Personally I think Night Shift is Foghat's best overall album.

The Talking Heads are a pretentious bunch of cocksuckers. That said, their version of this song is far superior to this low-rent version.

Talking heads may not have "hit it big" like The Beatles but that doesn't mean they didn't "hit it big" in their own way. I love all or almost all of talking heads songs and I'm sure there's others that feel the same way.

"Righter" is not a word. And I would say this is a good cover, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it's better than the talking heads version. They're both good in their own way just like Annie Lennox's covers of certain songs are nice to listen to as well.

Man, so far this one of the few songs that just about anybody could do a cover of and sound good doing it too. Haven't heard a version yet that I didn't like. Song is that awesome.

The first time I laid eyes on the boys was very early on, in one of thoses late, late night rock shows. They came out, and had on real "Foghats and a capes". I listen and said "these boys rock" and have not left them since! Long live FOGHAT

If you were growing up in the 70's somewhere in your 8Track collection you had some Foghat, and to be be really cool you had to have the black T shirt with thier FOGHAT logo on it. I remembered when I finally got my Foghat shirt, I wore that son of a gun out!
