@creed1boyer A Black Roand Mitt (grey ferret) can change color when he gets older for a Silver (like the ferret on my profil, Demon). He was a Black Roand Mitt and turned Silver at 2 years old. Chocolate and Dark Sable don't really change color. A Grey ferret won't change brown !

I have a 5 month old ferret that is a bundle of hyper!

Even thinking about getting her to hold still long enough to focus on learning something seems impossible.

Ive trained my rat a few tricks but he's far more easy to catch his attention than my ferret XD

So i guese my question to anyone is how do you get them to focus on you and what are these magical treats that seem to stall them long enough to train em?

@GingaFreak23 I've just recently started training one of my two ferrets, and he is the most hyper one. I've found after letting him out to play for an hour or two he slows down and just trots around, not really sure what to do. This is the perfect time as he's looking for something to entertain him, so he's willing to focus on you, especially if you have a treat for him ;) I suggest FerreTone as a treat, you can buy it at any Petco or Petsmart, it's good for them and mine love it.

You could teach him that staying near you means he gets given treats, or keep him on a harness and lead until he gets the idea that he's meant to stay near you.

Ferrets have so much personality, and no one told me they sound like miniature turkeys when they are excited lol!'

Ferrets don't normally bite. They might nibble if they want to play, but it doesn't hurt at all.

Ferretlover011 - I would highly discourage you from buying ferrets at Petco as they are mostly from "ferret mills" like Marshall. There are so many wonderful ferrets in need if adoption. Check Petfinder online or your local adoption agency.

This is AMAZING! I love ferrets more than any other animal on earth, and have always had them as companions. I have never, EVER been able to train my babies, and I consider myself to be pretty knowledgeable when it comes to ferrets. The three I have right now don't like treats or other food of any kind, and that makes it kinda hard to get them interested. Good for you for being able to do this. Please share your secret!
