Beatbox tutorial - Tips for practising

Can you use beer as a substitute for water?

@srdrftr It isn't recommended - beer will give you very frothy phlegm which will clog your throat while you beatbox making it hard to produce clear sounds, and making it hard to breathe.

i got a question when recording a video on youtube for beatboxing should you plug in your mike into the computer or plug it to a speaker system to make it sound better because everytime i use a mic it sounds really breathy

@wolfgang15425 If you sound breathy using a mic, just don't use a mic - using a microphone plugged into a sound system give a horrible second-hand audio effect. Search for my Roland Street Cube review for an idea of how terrible it sounds when you do this.

Hmm, I've never had lip problems from beatboxing, and I do it while hiking in the snow:-P

I do get a lot of mucus in my throat though, and I also drink milk all day... I guess that explains it X-D

That's very interesting... have you grown up somewhere very cold? It's possible you've built up a resistance, like how people who live in sunny places often don't get sunburnt easily.

Ive been trying to practise the Siren, thought about giving up cos I simply cannot do it, but then I got it mildly today! It didnt sound like the proper siren, but the vibration was sort of there so I just need to practise the sound to go with it!
