  • Dont understand why he didnt take the pawn on d5 the move before Nakamrua played g4..

  • hey bumblebee i dont know of mamedyarov, but in this game he played defensively and because of which had no tempo or offensive postion after the blunder to play off of.

  • So, if h7xNg6, Bxe5+...Kh7, f5xg6+...Qxg6, Rxf8...Rxf8, Nf6+ Kh6, but then what? I guess Mamedyarov is resigning because he's a piece down with no attack. But then, isn't this blitz?

  • Shak gets smacked.

  • what is that game

  • atmove 12 Naka had a pretty move Ng3 instead of Bg3 Mamedyarov blundered with 15....Bg7 he needed to secure the bishop post at f5 by trying h5

  • atmove 12 Naka had a pretty move Ng3 instead of Bg3

  • Mamedyarov is a GREAT player... Top 10 in the world. And his blitz is also phenomenal, but he really got worked in this game.

Nakamura tends to make even other Super-GM's appear amateur at times. xD

I'm a 2600-level blitz player on ICC, and I have seen many great games from Mamedyarov... even had the privilege of being hammered by him a few times myself in 3+0 (didn't even sniff a draw, let alone a win!).

I definitely think he was beaten psychologically right out of the opening...

  • pretty embarrassing bishop trap. even i could see potential for that many moves ahead and im certainly no GM. i think mamedyarov opened very poorly which led to his loss. naka is known for using obscure openings though.

  • Reminds me of Fischer-Spassky where Bobby got trapped.. although not quite this embarrassingly..

  • @youvebeensmoked Bobby trapped himself...you really think he didn't see that his bishop was going to be trapped? It was psychological.

  • @youvebeensmoked Actually its been proved by computers and human study that fischer could have STILL got a draw after his bishop-corner blunder against spassky. (He DID get 2 pawns for the bishop remember)

  • After Kh6 Qh5 :)

  • @martiand2 if Qh5, pxQ..

  • What was the reason to resign?

  • @bzkaa after black takes the knight on g6, white takes blacks dark squared bishop with check.

  • @TheStebbinz yeah, I saw that. So white gets a bishop for a knight, what's the big deal?

  • @bzkaa He gets mated. after BxB+, white plays Nf6+. its a mating patern

  • @TheStebbinz Nf6+ will lead to Kh6. I don't see the mate yet.

  • @bzkaa after Kh6, white can play Rc4 or even Qe1. Just look at the board

  • poor shak, he was so sick of the game he even missed Ng6+

  • Chess should be played like this all the time to make it more interesting to other people. I love it!!!

  • g4! Mamedyarov must've wanted to kill himself after that move ... trapped like a patzer!

  • Mamedyarov has a great fighting spirit.

Here we see a blunder... happens in blitz games...

  • Ouch! I bet he was thinking about resigning throughout the whole game...
