the BYS flaked off because you were probably applying it on dry nails. your nails need ti be semi dry or still kind if wet so the BYS crackle will work :)

Just have to let you know that China Glaze is great as well, but you have to put it over china glaze polish. So Just use what ever brand polish you want as your color, then add a China glaze top coat and crackle it! works GREAT! And China Glaze is coming out with 12 new Metallic Crackle colors in April or may! YAYAYA

The BYS brand crackle (and maybe even the covergirl crackle) needs to be put over a slightly wet base colour. It doesn't need to be completely dry like the china glaze and OPI ones. That's why it flaked off. In saying that though, i still find it quite hard to get the BYS ones to crackle as fast as the ChG & OPI. It takes ages... like 20mins so i give up on that one haha

Maybe you should try not doing as many sweeps? I usually just do two brush strokes, because if you sweep the brush over the polish many times it dries out and like "packs down" if you get what I mean. :)

I think you would really like the top coat from Sally's called Speed Demon by Nail Life. It comes in a huge bottle and it's WAY cheaper than opi and schete vite(or however you spell that haha). I LOOOOOVE it! It give you that plastic look that you say the SV gives you. Definitely worth a shot. Let us know if you try it :)

Im in the uk and Barry M brought out a nail polish that is identical to this , I know alot of people are wary of Barry M polishes but seeing your putting it over another colour it doesnt matter. Its only £4-£5 which is around $7 , so cheaper. The barry M polish does the exact same thing.

This looks way easier to work with than the Barry M one. That is really goopy and hard to apply evenly plus it dries almost immediately so you need enough for an entire nail on one brush stroke. Which is goop city..

Also, you can play with the crack to get different patterns, try painting it on sideways or in horizontal stripes. I don't have the OPI one but I do have the Barry M one because I'm a cheapskate UK blogger!

I like the brand called Depend. Recently it has produced these cracked nail polishes too. For me it worked fine and lasted 3-4 days without the top coat. :) The bottle is smaller, but thus the nail polish will always stay fresh. OPI here in Europe costs 15-17 euro per bottle, so it makes sense to go for alternatives. :)
