  • wonderful luv da FUNK

  • Very nice version. I'm also learning this song, I'll use your version as inspiration!

  • you rock :-) what kind of bass is that? what brand? I am an absolute novice and I'm about to buy an Ibanez SR700. Have you ever played that one? It's what I can afford for now... I want to play the real funky stuff - my faves are Meshell (of course), Jamiroquai, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, The Rebirth, etc... . what bass would you recommend???

  • dude... props!

  • lOVE THIS! lIVE FOR BASS! THANKS FOR SHARING

  • Very fluid while keeping the funk. Well done.

  • So good! Love this song!

  • really nice, man.

  • Maybe if you uncrossed your legs, you'd keep better time

  • dig the sound of the flats!

  • awesome

  • Great job!

  • That's Good...

  • awesome sound you've got going there

  • fine looking instrument

    fine sounding player!

  • great great playing!

  • Great sound!!

  • Nice work. Nice choice of music. Quite possibly my fav. from Me'Shell.

  • r u english?

  • Sounds good! How is the sustain on these strings? Long enough?

  • Sustain is fine. More than with most other flats I would say.

  • @GBagley what strings would you recommend i play metal like tool metallica, etc please respond

  • your bass sounds dope

  • your playing is great, how long have you been playing?

  • Thanks. I've been playing a little over 10 years.

  • bien ! man

  • Great tone...how do you have your EQ set? scooping mids at all? I Like the tone and flats a LOT...

    MB

  • I don't remember specifically, but on this bass I usually keep the bass EQ boosted a bit and leave everything else flat.

  • GOOD! congratulations =]

  • u rock man

  • loved it..great tone

  • great job!!

  • nice

  • YO THAT WAS NICEEEEEEEEE MUCH RESPECT

  • Whoever you are playing bass on this, I just want to say, you are absolutely owning it! I have a tear in my eye listening to this. Amazing. I could listen to this all day.

  • You must be on drugs..that's where are the tears from :)))

  • Going 2 c Meshell in a couple days out here in Detroit> Man u sound good> So u r using flats...? How do u feel about slapping and popping on flats?

    TONETONETONETONETONETONE

  • I'm not a slapper at all, so it doesn't matter to me.

  • It was presumptious of me to think u had an opinion on it. peace

  • nice tone, touch

  • So...you don't like me anymore because I have broad musical tastes? Whatever makes you happy I guess.

  • Also, Me'Shell is (in my opinion) one of the greatest bassists alive today. She can groove harder than anyone.

  • we all like to see people in this world, who are so damn ignorant of what the fuck they are saying..

  • ignorant : you dont know.

    thats all it means.

you used the word because you think it has something to do with racism.

therefore, you are either stupid as fuck, or mentally retarded.

and to think you care are about a race that makes up ~85% of the prison population, commits the most crimes in america, and still runs around in loin cloths in afica is stupid in itself. fuck off, dumbass.

  • now you bring up the subject of racism, and not me ;)

  • the simple knowledge of what kind of person you are, makes me puke, but let us not bother Gbagley with it.

  • HAHAHAHA

  • sounds awesome my man... flats are where it's at!

  • Your tone is so much greater than most other bassists...

It's just so much more sonically balanced.

  • You got the groove man!

Those TI strings are my favorite. Pure vintage tone. Have them on my P-Bass.

  • That was F!!!IN GROOVY!

  • Flatwounds all the way!!!!!!!

    Good job!

    Great groove!

  • great strings! ive got the same on my jazz bass. its remarkable how similar they sound. If I was just listening to this I would have thought someone was playing my bass!

  • Nice work on your vid's. I don't play much, but only afford a peavy fury and a 1982-3 carvin pro-bass 300. I like it , so it works.

  • very cool, very smooth!

  • i have the same bass, strung with flatwounds as well. i think they compliment the smoothiness of it.

  • OMGGG tell me that you play with flat woonds, i mean flat strings, is there any diference from the normal spiral strings ?

  • I keep this bass strung with flats. It's a big difference in feel and tone from roundwound strings. Depends on what kind of sound and feel you're looking for though.

  • What do you think about Warwick Basses?

  • I like Warwick basses. Used to own a Streamer Stage II. Awesome bass. Loved that growly tone, but I didn't like the narrow string spacing.

  • Narrow string spacing? I haven't noticed that yet ;) Though, I play a Corvette.

  • Oh, the 4-string ones have the standard wide spacing. It's the 5-string ones that use a more narrow spacing. Unless you get the 'Broadneck' option.

  • ah, have u tried the Warwick FNA jazzman?

  • Nope. I've mostly only played the Streamer Stage I and II, and the Thumb basses.

  • i just restrung my bass with Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Flats just cause u got em, they are nice

  • Great tone ! You got it, good !

  • Thanks to you i can play this song

  • Dude, thanks for sharing this. That was ABSOLUTLEY MINT!!!

  • Dude ur so good. Why dont u post stuff from Rush. Geddy Lee has some very interesting basslines:)

  • Sweetness!!!

  • awesome!! and thats quite an interesting sitting position you got there

  • Love watching and listening to you play. You make it all seem so easy. ;-)

  • oh yes, great choice ! Me Shell is fantastic !

  • man again!

    your as a rock!

    what do you plug into?

    and your camera?

and did i'm guessing you went to school?

  • Thanks. I'm plugging into an Mbox2 for recording. Going into my macbook (with the built-in webcam). I went to an arts school for a year (studying music), but that's the only formal training I've had on bass. I'm primarily self-taught.

  • dude thats awsome! did u play any other instruments before that?

  • I played Clarinet in concert band for a while...

  • So did we

  • Sooo funky !!!

  • Amazing man great job! And is that a new bass?

  • Thanks. This was my first bass! I've had it for a long time, awesome bass. It's in a couple other vids (Marvin Gaye and Damage INC...not the best for Metal, since it's setup with flats).

  • what program/equipment do you use to record?

  • I record with my Macbook (built-in webcam and iMovie), going through an Mbox2 to get direct audio.

  • good one. love Meshell stuff and her groove feel. And play nice!

  • Good stuff.

(the music was abit loud though).

  • Cool! I love groove like that!

  • Oops! Just read the info, they are TI Flats. They sound so good.

  • Yes, TI Jazz Flats. About 2 years old now. No plans to change them anytime soon!

  • Yeow! Great tone too! Are those Thomastic Infeld Jazz flatwound strings by chance?

  • Perfection!

  • cool

  • Very Nice!!!!!!!!!

  • Great playing as always Greg. New bass?

  • Thanks! This is actually the first bass that I ever owned. I've had it about 9 years now, and it'll stay with me forever! Still love it and play it all the time :)

  • Nice to hear from you again, G. You did well, once again.

  • 5/5 nice awork

  • amazing!

    i love it!
