Well I only went there for the teaching program, so I can't speak for the undergraduate experience. That said it was the most fun I ever had at any school in my life.

Is that Astroturf on that unbelievably green Quad lawn? When was this vid shot - during the one month long Summer? Do they still place bets at the bars and roadhouses forecasting the exact minute in May that the St Lawrence ice breaks up? Potsdam is a lot of things, but not green lawns.After 5yrs there, I can't remember a blade of grass - just 12" of ice on the sidewalks and bone numbing cold as I walked from my Sorority house to classes. It's actually magnificent in it's icyness.

I was there from '62-'67 and again in '69. i know of what I speak! It was an icy wonderland. 32 below zero F, (and that's not sissy windchill factor either!), Sapphire clear skies (too cold for moisture), Ice Carnival, perfect winter skiing, awesome Northern Lights, blinding white snow - why portray it with stupid grass?
ahh good ol' Satterlee...I entered Potsdam as a freshman in 2004, but sadly had to transfer to Oswego for their Broadcasting program. I didnt want to leave...I met the best friends anyone could ever ask for. Potsdam is a school that cares about the success of each and every one of their students. Not just IN the classroom, but OUT of the classroom as well. I would whole-heartedly HIGHLY recommend SUNY Potsdam to anyone!
My son is thinking of going here. It looks beautiful. Are there buses that take you from the university back home? We live on Long Island and when he wants to come home I am not picking him up LOL

I graduated from that shithole back in the seventies. Four of the darkest, smelliest, most depressing years of my life. Potsdam is a shithole, and SUNY Potsdam is the fucking flush handle. I hope the place explodes and burns to the ground. FUCK BOWMAN WEST!!

Unless Global warming has hit Potsdam, bring your warmest most serious winter clothing. It is not a campus for cute 'pretend' winter styles. It's winters are Canadian - nothing between you and the Arctic ice - and the air which sweeps down from the north. Think Dr Zhivago and you've got it. The winters weed out the wimps. I was a student from NYC - and I had never imagined such cold could exist in the same State I grew up in. Bring your skis and enjoy!
