Agreed that state slavery is what "Communism" actually turned out to be more often than not.

However, I think you will find that it was not so much the communist ideology per se (relatively benign if misleading and unpredictable) that killed people but the dictatorial tyrants such as Lenin and Castro who used secret police and the state to enslave people.

Tancred66 - The Communist ideology was not the best but it was a backlash to monarchy and fascism.

It sounded good compared to death and slavery at the hands of Kings and dictators.

Democracy and freedom was the better ideology but unlike say Nazism which was an ideology which explicity argued for killing, starving and persecuting "inferior" people, the Communist ideology never did.

No what let the Communists down was their rotten leaders like Stalin and no easy way to remove them.

Tancred66 - The USA and UK were "in cahoots" with the Soviets you dumb ass - during WW2 we were allies and we supplied the Red Army to fight the real enemy which was the Nazis. Jack was fighting the Nazis in the Spanish Civil War because he sided with the people of Spain and their right to elect their government and head of state.

Jack sided with the people and that is why he was and is loved.
