NO output at night, limited output on a cloudy day or when it's snows on them. Constant maintenance, very low efficency, large footprint required to install them, they work best facing a certain way and of course need direct sunlight to work best and they are very expensive initially. Don't know how they would survive a hailstorm either. Scratches lower their already low efficency.

Before shale oil can be used, you have to wait 100 million years for it to turn into crude oil, or heat it artificially which actually takes more energy than the oil would produce.
Oops, sorry, correction (I am a bit tired): It wouldn't turn into crude oil, but usable oil of LESSER quality than crude oil. Shell is experimenting on technology to do that, but it is FUCKING expensive, and yet unproven as to the actual benefit. So: HUGE amount of work, HUGE sums invested and a HUGE amount of required energy result in relatively small amounts of low quality oil that's still going to be expensive.

I actually applied for a supervisor job at a wind energy company in PA a few months ago. It is owned by a company from SPAIN called Gamesa wind. Unfortunately they had intolerable hours and low pay. I have friends in Wyoming that make over $100,000 a year working in the oil fields. That's typical pay for those jobs. Once again Agatsu is completely blown out of the water. BOOM...

And it doesn't HAVE to take 10 years before we can access oil here. That time estimate is only based on how long things have taken in the past, when there was no rush. Republicans and the Media are lying (yet again). Wake up and smell the coffee people. There were 124 off shore oil spills totalling over 1/2 million gallons because of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. 113 oil platforms were totally destroyed. 450 pipelines were damaged.
Second, the oil industry has access to millions of acres where they CAN drill but aren't. They don't want to. They want to keep the price of oil UP so they can make fat profits.

NO output at night, limited output on a cloudy day or when it's snows on them. Constant maintenance, very low efficency, large footprint required to install them, they work best facing a certain way and of course need direct sunlight to work best and they are very expensive initially. Don't know how they would survive a hailstorm either. Scratches lower their already low efficency.
Have fun cleaning the snow off them in the winter on your roof.

Oops, sorry, correction (I am a bit tired): It wouldn't turn into crude oil, but usable oil of LESSER quality than crude oil. Shell is experimenting on technology to do that, but it is FUCKING expensive, and yet unproven as to the actual benefit. So: HUGE amount of work, HUGE sums invested and a HUGE amount of required energy result in relatively small amounts of low quality oil that's still going to be expensive.

I actually applied for a supervisor job at a wind energy company in PA a few months ago. It is owned by a company from SPAIN called Gamesa wind. Unfortunately they had intolerable hours and low pay. I have friends in Wyoming that make over $100,000 a year working in the oil fields. That's typical pay for those jobs. Once again Agatsu is completely blown out of the water. BOOM...

How are my own experiences in America dillusion? It's GOT to be cheaper to pump oil here than to transport it across the ocean.
They already have the infrastruture and a pipeline in Alaska on the North slope. And what jobs are ever created after a solar panel is manufactured and installed or a windmill is installed? None. So in addition to the 1,000's of other manufactuing jobs in America that have went to China and India we then have 1,000's of oil field workers out of a job. Bad plan.

Swamp barge: 10 - 100 million $
Jack up (shallow offshore):75-175 million $

Opec countries will make a TRILLON dollars from their stinking oil this year. They want to DESTROY this country, is it possible to get that through a thick liberal skull??? We HAVE to drill for our own oil to put the wretched arabs out of business. The next terrorist attack in the US will be the fault of liberals!
