Al Unser on 1987 Indy 500

I voted for A.J. #1 all time, but, if I did it over again, I'd probably vote for Al now. Got to thinking about the number of laps he led, and he's probably the best ever at Indy.

Al Unser Sr. Great race driver one of my Indy hero's. He & Rick Mears were two of the best oval drivers ever in open wheel racing. He should've only been in a Penske racecar till he was ready to retire but I understand the business of CART racing back then, sponsors had the primary say in how many drivers & who those drivers were...

yes they were the days i miss big Al Mears Foyt and them ..thats funny that guys on a riding lawn mower at 1:20 you wouldnt see that now a days ha..

Those were the days man! The new technology hasn't really done the sport any favours. Racing by the seat of your pants ... just the driver, the gas, the brake, and the clutch.

I still watch though. Just miss the classic drivers and cars.
