I think the thing that makes this book so good is that the friendship between the Losers is so brilliantly written. You really care about these guys and want them to succeed against the heinous evils that they face. The very last paragraphs of the novel are really emotional for me. Without the friendship angle, the story would have been gratuitously violent, grim and unpleasant. King is such a master.
@knightofbruma Thats the Stephen King mythology in action. He's alwasy putting in characters or places from other stories he has written into the current story,
wow, terrible choice of voice actor i think i'll stick with the way i amagined them rather than bored guy reading diologue. The cover does bring back memories though - the eyes in the drain with the baloon was on the cover of my first copy of IT about 15-20 years ago
@crzysk8r2010 Um, nowhere in the book does it imply that It had anything to do with that man's death. He drove his car into the river due to the flooding. He drowned and his body was eaten by fish, which, coincidentally, is exactly what would happen to you if you were to drown in a body of water that held fish. It is innocent of this one.
As a British lover of the book and reviler of the film I say that to me, Pennywise should not be British unless confronting a British kid/person - he should take on the accent of whoever he's confronting. In the film for me, Tim Curry was way too dramatic - IT should be subtler than that, like in the book, and thus scarier. The only part of the book with which I disagree is Bill Denbrough's stance on football and cricket. The book is awesome.
I love this book! Scary unlike the poor movie. Although, Tim Curry was a great Pennywise, he still didn't look like the clown I had imagined. He was too clean while I had imagined him looking like a washed up clown who had just come out of the sewer after rotting for a few days. The beginning gave me that image, and I will stick to imagining that character instead of the movie one so that I may actually be scared more. Although, Tim Curry's voice is what I always imagined so he did a good job a
I read this book when I was 12 and this was the part that stood out to me. Scared the heck outta me. BTW the guy reading has a cool voice. I'm pretty sure its the same guy who does the Gremlins trailer + others in the 80s.
I can't help thinking this would be scarier and more atmospheric if Tim Curry had read it! The American accent just doesn't convey horror like a good old British one.
Totally agreed. This guy's voice is awful, and his inflections just totally wacked. He reads like a machine made to inflect certain words despite their actual context.
Thank you for the reply, however I believe that it longer than the 37 postings that are on the list, though there are random chapters avalible but i am wondering where the missing parts can be found.
ill be uploading the rest very soon, its a very large book so itll take some time 2 get the full thing up,as far as i know there are no other upploaders of this book on utube,u might get lucky on ebay for the full thing.

The book is so much more different than the movie! Much more abstract than you would think, very disgusting, and also weird.

Clarification: I disagree with Bill's opinion, not with his opinion being in the book.

Early one in this book they talk about someone that died and was eaten by fishes. I just wonder if Pennywise ate that man instead of fishes.
