the video just doesnt do it justice. its completely different seeing them in concert. this is a band that doesnt sound very good as an audio file, but is mind blowing in person. with pop its just the same person on the stage playing their music you've already heard very load. with sleepytime, its a completely different experience and if anyone thinks this sounds good on this video, then go to one of their concerts because it will blow your mind.

This music is amazing. You will find with a lot of avant garde music, you ned to hear it a few times to really get into it, but then you love it a lot more and for a long time. Its my sign of a good record. On the other hand, chart pop stuff is throwaway. Its liked most on first or second listen, by number 5 its hated or boring.

I've not been thrilled by everything avant-garde out there--especially when your friends want you to listen to horrible noise in the car around town and all they do is smile like it's the most original shit out there. Even I draw the line there... it has to have form and function--SGM has tons of that. SGM is focused entirely on composition and texture. It's why I love them.

I was being facetious, of course. But from what I under about RIO, the term wasn't intended to imply a particular genre, though many of them sound very "Cow". I was really just wondering if there's a connection to this "Rock agains Rock"....RAR, I guess. I mean, it's all just really cool music to me.
