sweet...hey i had one of them but the one that i had didn't had the real buutoms on top...more like no buttom but not a touchscreen...any idea witch model that was?i can jsut not find this one online! it looks about the same as this one here!
i just bought one of these. it's black though. but it's a matte finish with a brushed back and um, bulge. the way that the walkman logo catches the light is quite magical. and of course it sounds great. i can't believe that these are from 1987. they are really timeless in appearance and function. i record tapes on my tc-k730es from records i play on my ps-x600 and i play them on this wm-501. not this very one. but my black one. and the results are so much better than my ipod. ugh. ipod. bla. ugh
I used to have an old sony walkman tape player. back a couple years ago. it was really nice it had a am/fm tuner on it, and a nice digital clock and some digital buttons for the preset radio stations on the front. was a cool little gadget
Gone are the days where quality really mattered to consumers.
Most just look at two items that do the same thing and wonder why one item costs more than the other, though they both do the same thing without realizing that sometimes the one that costs more has a better way of performing the function in terms of performance and reliability.
Oh, and BTW, the music is by Joe Hisaishi, "Spirited Away" if I'm not mistaken.
I just bought a sony walkman at best buys. They still make them. Mine has ability to automatically skip to next or previous track or repeat a song plus much more since it has those newer type of digital controls similar to what CD players have. They had like 3 or 4 more different brands but this one seemed more advanced and more convenient to use than those traditional push button type.
I grew up in the 80s. Walkmans were big even though simple. AM/FM and cassette. Some models just were cassette. I remember walkman day in jr high school. Times have changed...everything is ipod now.
I wanna have at least one of these vintage walkmans. I wanna go retro.

Although, personally, I like Jerry Goldsmith.

just look at the quality of the material of the outer casing. it's a pity that now we only have cheap chines plastics

What's that black thing you attached to the side of the unit? Is it some sort of battery pack?

Wow, the condition of the Walkman makes it look as though it's brand new.
That narrow window on the cassette player reminds me of the front face found on a much later player, the MZ-NH1 (Hi-MD Walkman.)
