This happens everywhere, averytime, with any kind of vehicle. Ships running into each other in perfect visibility conditions, cars hitting road maintenance vehicles parked roadside... some people shouldn't even be allowed to drive a shopping cart.
Just asking: Why is the flight data and cockpit voice recorders being continuously referred to as 'black boxes'? I thought the term 'black box' is never used in the world of professional, but why the continuous use of the term?
why don't they have a 1000m HORIZONTAL separation as well as vertical separation, planes taking off could veer to the right (or left). This would add an extra level of safety. Likewise all air traffic lanes could have horizontal as well as vertical separation (this would have prevented the GOL crash over Brazil as well.) PLUS all planes should carry GPS independent of their other instruments which should also transmit position and height to other planes and ATC
IIRC passenger aircraft in the region of Charkhi-Dadri are forced into a narrow corridor because much of the airspace there is reserved for Indian Air Force use.
@GCarty80 Ues, in this case I understand, but it seems to be routine throughout the world's air lanes that there is ONLY VERTICAL separation between lanes going in opposite directions, when a horizontal separation AS WELL would add one extra element of safety. Of course every pilot should have a handheld GPS independent of the aircraft systems so he can know at all times where he is and how high. It could also be programmed to show speed-over-ground and rate-of-ascent/descent as well.
in brazil, a private jet (flight no. 600) collided with gol flight 1907. here the kazakhstan flight no. is also 1907. perhaps the no. 1907 is an unlucky one.
@Dholbajale i have many Indian friends, and they are not stupid, they are really nice caring people!! and they are certainly nicer than you !! (i'm British btw)
No, 349 died in this crash, pm41224 doubled the number. If it were 698 it would have been the worst air crash in aviation history, and that tragic distinction is held by KLM / Pan Am in March of 1977 at Tenerife where 583 died. This crash ranks #4. Of course, still very tragic.
And too think that TCAS would have prevented this, or if the crew had not miscommunicated ... I guess we are all guinea pigs when we fly in a commercial jet...
When the radio operator noticed their altitude was too low he should of told the pilots to push the plane down. It would be much easier to descend a descending plane than to force it back up. Especially when there is another plane heading to them just miles away.
This was an utter disaster! I was very young when this happened. This incident made Delhi airport safer. I am glad that authorities understood the importance of modern equipment, but at a very high cost. Today Delhi airport is one of the finest airport of the world - Finally
Put the opposite course on the same line stupidity entrenched in India why not put a different rot before the accident is waiting for an accident then there is an error of the air controller repeat for 14,000 feet so confused about it on the Russian aircraft and the stupidity of another has been covering the error for fear of the reaction of relatives of the victims in Saudi plane and most of them Indians, and in my opinion, the air bears the observer error by 80% has been covered it
@paltookeee first of all, LEARN HOW TO SPEAK ENGLISH ASSHOLE. I can't even make out anything you said in any of your comments. And SECONDLY, NO ONE WAS BLAMING THE SAUDI PILOTS. If you actually even spoke a LITTLE english (or understood it), you would know that the blame was placed on the Kazak pilots. And the Indian ATC controller and investigators were perfectly valid, and there wasn't any bias involved since the black boxes of the Saudi flight were examined in ENGLAND. Fucking terrorist.
@insanomonkey dude,... all is good and such,.. but carefull how u call ppl "terrorists". There are uneducated ppl, stupid ones, idiots and then terrorists. Call him a idiot but not terrorist!
Saudi pilot Khaled Shubaily senior pilots and the most efficient pilots Saudis and the stupidity of the government of India is the cause of his death, we have lost a man good, but the condolences that he died on Islam and the witness during the crash and the pilot Khaled has a beard and put someone shaved an insult to him even in his death, the film and point of view of Indian
@paltookeee and your point is.. ? so because the pilot is Muslim this is his fault ? are you stupid or something ? the black boxes were examined and it clearly shows the Saudi pilot was doing his job fine! we need less people like you in this world , and for god sake what beard have to do with this! i really found it as insult for 349 who died that you put a blame for someone because of his beard!! and please enlighten us about "80% covered errors" goshhh so much stupidity in ur comment!
@IchigoKurosaki2121 Umm well actually west bound planes are supposed to keep an even 10s flight level and East bound keep an 0dd 10s flight level. For example, if I'm flying from san Delhi to Dharan, I need to keep an even 10s flight level like FL140. From Russia, they're east bound so it's FL150. Therefore, 2000 ft is NOT allowed as both will have to be at an even 10s or 0dd 10s.
Lucky for VK Dutta, he came out from this incident unscathed; his colleague, Mr. Peter Nielsen, wasn't so lucky. Nielsen was killed by one of the relatives of the crash between the plane BTC 2937 amd DHX plane.
@hmasna He came out unscathed because he was clearly NOT to blame. Peter Nielsen DID make a mistake, even if the bad system was against him. Of course he didn't deserve to be murdered for it. But then nor did the murderer deserve to lose his whole family
I am amazed that the camera crew was there first instead of any attempted rescue operation. You can never know whether you can save at least one life.
soon (because I have seen them all) i'll be reading about a plane crash in the paper and then think, cant wait for the documetary
