What about actually believing the principles of the religion you choose an sticking to them? A famous Gandhi quote I once saw claims "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians" The problem with the "abrahamic" congregations is that the people tend to deviate from the original purpose of the religion. I think that can happen with any religion, just there hasn't been reason to do so yet.

@emmandaline Most people don't choose their religion, they're born into it. Ghandi was a very smart man, that's why many hate him. The "problem" with Abrahamic religions is that they are religions of exclusion, and while they some times seem to preach peace, they are filled with attrocities and incitment to violence (too many examples to quote, please read the bible or kuran if interested). This confuses people, and many interpret it to suit their own needs.

There were wars, certainly. There were religions that glorified battle, such as amongst the Nords... but it was honest. They fought for riches, conquest, land, clans... even women if you can believe Homer.
