They're not too cowardly to play road games, it just doesn't fiscally make sense. If Creighton wants to act like one of the big boys, they need to at least start scheduling some 2 for 1's; this is what got Gonzaga on the map and where St. Mary's is headed. What is my beef with CU??? Well, your unsubstantiated remark, typical of CU fans, "they're obviously the better team" is my problem. Does the fact they lost to NU this year make is "obvious"?? BTW, the Big 12 is 5-0 so far in the tourney.
Gonzaga never did 2 for 1's. They played a lot of neutral site games with high quality teams. CU would never do a 2 for 1 because it makes absolutely no sense financially when you put 16,000 in your building every game. By the way, good luck going to the final four, you'll need it.
ESPN was my source on the Gonzaga for 2 for 1's; so I was misinformed. Now, with regard to the 16,000 every game as reason to not do a 2 for 1, so be it. But it you want be considered a contender in years when you can't even win your petty conference's automatic bid, then you better find some other way to get some teams better than St. Josephs and New Mexico to build your resume. Does staying at home to watch the NCAA tournament make sense financially??
You mean like turning his back to go to Arkansas before he realized that he couldn't coach in a non-junior varsity conference??? By the way, Arkansas made the NCAA tournament the next year; don't worry Creighton showed a lot in the NIT that same year though.
seriously? i wouldn't even bring that up if i was a bcs fan. seeing a coach leave a big fat cat bcs coaching job to go back to the "mid major" valley??? isn't that a little embarassing for you bcs fans?
Not in the slightest. He was hired for what, two hours, probably realized there would never get to 20 wins again without being able to play the likes of Evansville and Indiana State on a regular basis, and decided to go back to the pee-wee leagues.
You mean the Arkansas team that went 2-14 in conference play this year??? Bravo sir!!!! This milestone for The Valley is only slightly overshadowed by the fact that they were a collective 0-10 against teams in the top 25. Outstanding!!!!
Yes the Arkansas team that nobody can figure out after beating good teams and going 2-14 in conference play. 0-10 against the top 25 is what you get from the BCS cool aid drinkers who are too cowardly to play road games ESPECIALLY against the MVC. At least the valley teams are man enough to play road games against good teams. Why all the beef with Creighton anyway? They're obviously a better ball club and have more fans.
Uh, Altman has been coaching about 4 times as long as Doc, so I'd hope he'd have more wins. Doc is in his 6th season of head coaching, the majority of which were in a major conference, and has 115 wins. In Altman's first 6 seasons of head coaching, he had 25 less, 90 wins!!! Who's the bitch, BITCH??
Right around .500 which is where Dana is at. The difference of course being that Doc is coaching in the best conference in the country where as Altman is coaching in the 10th!!!!!! "oouch" is right!!!!
@azpeacemaker7 yea, the jays are having an off year this year, at least I admit it. But Dana still brings 16 grand a game, and poor NU barely puts up 6k a game. O well, at least Creighton beat the,"Skers," this year...
@emmaweaver721 Yes, Creighton beat Nebraska this year, which, sadly for a team who was being hyped to go to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament, was their marquee win (against a team that finished with a losing record of 15-17). Well done Bluejays!!!!!
Appreciate you coming out the game. The foul at the end of the game was tough, but NOWHERE near as bad as the call that was called a shooting foul at the end of the first half when the KU guy was so far underneath the hoop on an entry pass that he was just inches from stepping out on the play and still deemed to be shooting....upon receiving the pass. I can tell you that the people sitting around me last night weren't too GD impressed with my language after that one; not to mention the other 1
Good Thing P'Allen didn't play or there would have been a different result Huskers got lucky that will happen now and again good luck next year at the Qwest. To bad nebraska didn't have the Balls to play this game twice a year It would be a lot of fun. But I guess Sadler knows it would hurt his recruting.
Yeah, P's really been lighting it up lately. What's he averaging in the past few games.....4 ppg???? Great point!!! Of course CU wants to play NU twice per year, it's win-win for them. Don't worry, CU, the heavy favorite to win the MVC, might get another shot at them in the NIT. Providing the Jays even qualify for that!!!
Well I will agree P is not to impressive right now but at the time they played he was doing a little better but what he does a lot is drive to the lane pull in help defenders and then kick out. Booker Woodfox had 6 out of 7 games threw a stretch there that he had scored 20 or more couldn't get open that game. Needed P more for pulling his defender off just anouther foot or two. As for the Nit right now neither team is looking to good for that.
By the way was at the game last night first NU non Cu game I have been to in 5 years. Good game. Creighton had the same refs the night before and I told the guy with me that these reffs will do something at the end of the game to change the outcome. They suck somebody needs to downgrade those reffs to high school. Tough break.
Like most Creighton fans, you don't know shit about basketball and your a moron. Why do you have Huskers in your name if you are talking trash about them?
By the way, how did you like that 22 point beatdown tonight? Haha
Creighton absolutely has the chance to play big programs in the non con, they just choose not to and rather want to receive praise when the beat a BCS team even if it is the bottom feeders of these conferences like Depaul or even Nebraska for that matter. Yes, Nebraska is a bottom feeder of the Big 12, but this still makes them better than CU. Nebraska frequently loses to mid-majors?? Please support this. If you mean Creighton, check the overall series as it relates to the word "frequently".
Ok, Nebraska only beat Pine Bluff by 14 points. Should they have beat them by more?? Probably, but it was early in the season. The difference here is that you got busted for saying that Creighton was on the rise, the day after they sneaked by a crappy Southern team and then tried to paddle upstream by even going so far as to bring football into it; POOR football arguments at that. Western Michigan no good??? Their only 3 losses were to bowl teams!!! Are you sure you follow college football?
yes i do follow college football i know tons about it. The WMU comparison was yes slightly off but still it is a MAC team a team that Nebraska should by at least 30 points every time. So you are saying after one 11 point win against a crappy team means that CU isn't on the rise. Creighton beat Dayton by 19 and just won the Las Vegas Classic. Sure the classic isn't great but at least it isn't as bad as losing to UMBC. I brought football into it so i could compare on an easier scale.
Thus far you haven't indicated you know much about football at all; let alone "tons" like you claim. W. Michigan also beat 3 bowl teams.
By the way, UMBC was an NCAA tournament team last year. Pull out your almanac and check to see when the last time CU beat a tourney team was. I'll save you some time, don't look at last year's schedule. And since you've opened the door to bringing up the past to support claims of who's the better team now, Nebraska beat 6 NCAA tournament teams last year.
as for basketball still it is UMBC for all we know Southern could get into the tourney this year. It doesn't matter where they were last year, it matters where they are this year. Nebraska has a clear an advantage on playing tourney teams because they play Big 12 teams. I am glad you are happy with you loss to UMBC because as a Creighton fan I would be ashamed. merry christmas.
So wait, you are allowed to say that the previous 10 seasons that CU has played in the post season is evidence that they are better than the Huskers currently, yet you discount my argument about last year's UMBC team as old news?? So which is it? You can cite the past as evidence but I can't??
Also, I didn't say anything about "playing" tournament teams; I said "beating" tournament teams. Additionally, the Huskers also beat Oregon and ASU who went to the dance and are not in the Big 12.
UMBC was a 15 seed in last years tournament. if you are proud about beating a 15 seed well then thats great. as a creighton fan it would be a normal win. but i guess for nebraska fans it is a great win because hey we beat a tourney team even though we aren't in the tourney.
as for the other teams that you have played you get the chance to play them it what i am saying. as a creighton fan i would love to play all those teams and possibly beat them. that is one thing i wish cu had.
I'm sorry, I don't know what you mean by a "normal" win for CU. After all, Creighton doesn't "normally" beat teams that get into the dance. If you mean Creighton "normally" beats bad/average teams, then you're spot on. This is why they are in the post season so regularly; not because they're great, but they lace their non conference schedule with powder puffs prior to going into league play which is also made up of powder puffs. This is why the struggle in the post season too; even the NIT.
this what i have been saying creighton doesn't have the oppurtunity to play the teams like nebraska in the non conference column. creighton plays whoever they can get trust me if we could play arizona state all the time we would. at least we are not in a big 12 and play down to a mid-major team and lose to them regurly. hell you guys lost to UMBC and you are still pulling up facts that they were a tournament team a few years ago so it is ok. it isn't and that is y CU is a better program.
That Las Vegas Classic win is looking more and more impressive every day as Depaul, who made the finals, is still looking for their first conference win. Creighton may has well have signed up to play in Methodist Hospital's employee league championships.
I think this win isn't as big of a deal as the Husker fans are making it. But I'll also say that last year's win wasn't as big of a deal as CU fans made it. Unless you are playing a power house team, you should win on your home floor. When one of these teams beats the other on the road, then there's something to talk about.
The bottom line is that this was a sloppy game for both teams, and it is evident that both teams need to improve before conference play.
"been" ranked more times; "had" a higher RPI, "been" to the NCAA tournament. Since you've opened the door to speaking in the past tense, history has the overall series: NU 25 and CU 18.
Nebraska wouldn't get one more fan if they served booze?? If we use Creighton's move from the Civic to the Qwest as the litmus test, Nebraska would expect to get nearly 6,000 more fans showing up if alcohol was served. The numbers don't lie sport.
u guys do have the overall series but come on... but creighton has been knocking on the door the past few years. and yes we have been better then you for the past decade. Creighton is becoming a huge mid-major program and Nebraska is seeing them becoming the smaller program. like i said wait till the end of the season you guys will be in the NIT while we'll be in the dance. o by the way you like that win against UD by 19? CU is on the rise.
Yes, I saw the game against Dayton. Who knows, if Dayton keeps playing the type of basketball that they are now, they'll be in the top 25 in no time. Ironically, of all Creighton's home games this year, the Dayton game had the 2nd worst attendance which only further confirms my point that Creighton fans are only at the Qwest to be seen and they don't really care who the Jays are playing.
Also,if "Creighton is on the rise" then they shouldn't be sneaking by winless teams like Southern @ home.
have u ever been to a creighton game? the fans always come to support to the team. The game was on a Wednesday I know my whole family was busy with religious things i was lucky enough to get out of. of course the fans know who creighton is playing. Creighton only snuck by southern like Nebraska snuck by Baylor in football. Creighton was the better team they just didn't give it all that night. they beat them by 11 that is way cloer then expected but still it isn't exactly close.
Yes, I was at the DU & Southern game and snapped a picture of the premier seats at mid-court which were half filled five minutes into the game. Same old song at the Qwest: show up late, congregate by the concessions for the 2nd half, leave early.
Back to the Southern game: Southern had 29 turnovers & CU still only won by 11; did you know there wasn't even a line on this game it was supposed to be such a blow out??
NU beat Baylor by 12 in football & were favored by 10.5. Poor comparison!!!!
First at least we show up for games instead of stay home like Nebraska Fans did when IPFW came to town. Look IPFW is better then SU and still Creighton fans show. As for the fans at the concessions you have to remember that first their are TVS everywhere in the qwest so everyone can watch the game while in the concessions.
If you want a better comparison how about Western Michigan in football or APB a 14 point win at home. the jays beat them by 30. jsut stop talking CU is the better progrm
Again, terrible comparison. UNL was on Christmas break for the IPFW game; Creighton on the other hand was not for the SU game.
Now, with regard to you comparing Husker football to Jays hoops, moronic. Especially when you call into light that Nebraska beat a Western Michigan team to make your point. A W. Michigan team that is 9-3. A W. Michigan team that is playing in a bowl. A W. Michigan team that was rated this year.
You're too easy man; give up. I haven't even said "head to head" yet.
but yet u still haven't addressed the APB one have u. The real basketball one....
look admit it CU is the better program you are throwing all these excuses on me. I am a Nebraska Football fan and I guarentee i know more about Husker Football. That Bronco team was not a good team at all. horrible i mean the MAC really? Look we could sit here and point fingers for weeks but CU just has the better program right now and you just won't admit it. come on give up.
One more thing, as a fan of the Missouri Valley Conference you have NO business questioning the integrity of the MAC or another mid major conference for that matter.
Please provide me with ONE morsel of evidence beyond the long way around saying "cause I said so" that Creighton is a better program than Nebraska or that they will be better by the end of the year. I've backed my claims, I would hope that you'd have the decency to do the same.
As a fan of the MVC i can question anyone conference i want. just because you are a fan of the Big 12 doesn't mean that you can boss us little schools around.
My one morsel came yesterday and I am not even going to mention it because i am not going to rubb it in your face like the rest of the world has. Creighton is a better program as of right now because of their track record 10 straight postseason appearances 11 straight 20 win seasons. creighton has been on the rise for years.
Dude, The Devaney Center wouldn't get ONE EXTRA FAN if they served alcohol. Nebraska basketball is unpopular and will never make it to the level that Creighton is at. Yes, were a mid-major. Yes, your in the big 12. And YES, we have earned more respect, won more NCAA TOURNEY GAMES, been ranked more times, had a higher R.P.I., and actually been to the NCAA tourney in the last ten years. Congrats on a win, we can't wait till you come to the Qwest and we beat you by double digits.
Losses are to be expected, particularly when Nebraska, regularly, plays teams from major conferences; but Creighton wouldn't know much about that. The combined records of the pee-ons that Creighton has actually beaten this year is a whopping 9-29. Solid!!! Creighton may get to the tournament, but only by winning the Mo. Valley which 11 of the 12 Big XII teams would do with ease if they were in that joke of a conference.
good loss today boys....we will be in the dance while you guys will be lucky to get to the NIT. good job on beating us by 2 at home when our star player sat out and we played our worst game of probably the year. you guys should be proud. as for your comments about the Q... yes we serve alcohol but aren't games supposed to be a time where you can socialize and cheer on your team. You are just jealous because we have top 15 attendance in a amazing arena.
I've been out of the country for the past 8 months in a remote area without any access to any media source; not even internet. Just got back into town and wanted to follow up on your post here and see how Creighton did in their NCAA tournament appearance that you guaranteed. Please advise.
creighton sucks.

They're not too cowardly to play road games, it just doesn't fiscally make sense.

One more thing, "you" don't serve alcohol. The Qwest center, which you rent out for home games, serves it.
