You people wouldn't know good music if it actually bit you on the ass.Everyone knows the Elton John version is the best, compared to the Who's version. This also goes for Lucy in the Sky w/ Diamonds, the Beatles version from Sgt.Pepper sucked ass.
I like both versions. Elton John originally wrote the song, and it was first shown in Tommy, and then the who did it. But I kinda like Elton Johns better becuase it has more beat in it.
@Disco32er Apparently, Pete Townshend wrote the song. However, I generally like Elton John's version better. That is strange for me, I generally like the original version of songs (unless a song has been done by so many artists and bands it is hard to determine who did it first or which version I heard first).
When I was a kid I always thought this was an Elton John song. I didn't hear the Who version until years later. I've always liked Eltons version better.
I love this version. I hadn't heard it for a long time, and it still sounds great.
When I listened to this as a teenager, I hadn't noticed how they infused "Can't Explain" into both the back-up vocals, and the chords at the end. Elton is a masterful arranger and performer, and he had a great band. Fantastic reworking of a classic song.
Why does everyone feel the need to compare; see who's better, etc... It's a freakin awesome song no matter how you look at it and they're all just trying to spread the love in their own ways - so chill dudes and just enjoy the music. =)
@cod4rulz yeah, i have to agree... if he had a better voice the song would have worked out better :/ though it's not a total shitty song, i mean, i like more the who's one, but i also like this version too
This version has a THOUSAND times the energy to the Who's. Sorry but it does. Yes you gotta give the Who credit for writing it but to me it always sounds rather clunky now.
I LOVE THe Who, but this cover does it extreme justice, just as good, Hell, the Who used him to play it in their own movie, that shows something right?
I listened to this 4 times in a row yesterday. This version is a little more colorful in my opinion than the Who's.... I think they are equal in greatness. And that piano solo. Wow.
Elton John's best band at their peak - Dee Murray on bass, Nigel on drums, Davey on guitar - it was never the same for Elton after this album - great song
Love this song! The Who played during the halftime of Superbowl 44. Any song from the Who(or remake) brings up good memories for me! Who Dat!

@Disco32er uhm...The Who is the original artist of this song...not Elton. Please learn your shit before ranting. Thank you.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
his fag voice ruins the song. Not to be an asshole but he has a homosexual-like voice and it doesn't belong in this song.

@swetergrl91 I agree with you. It flows more and has far more energy as far as I am concerned. The Who's seems kind of awkward and dated sounding

Elton John's version of "Pinball Wizard" had 66 times more energy and liveliness that the Who's version. Big Difference!!
