India is a great country. I am based in mumbai and my native place is GOA. There is so much of good things that you can get to see and learn, here in India. Those people who are narrating their bad experiences is only one side of the coin. Remember, the coin has two sides. Also, just by speaking bad about MYCOUNTRY (India),will not help. That is your opinion. I want people from abroad to come down to India and visit different States and experience the difference.
I had to watch it a second time. The points made at the end about beauty and hardship intermingled are so very very accurate. India was both the best and worst travel experience I've had. If you are a wandering soul, I recommend it highly - you will never be the same.
Okay....i'm indian and heres my advice for you guys planning to visit india...1.travel around india by bus if you are not flying...it's more comfortable by train BUT if u choose train go for AC class, NOT sleeper class or general class..of course AC is more expensive.2.travelling inside a city?..beware of cheating taxi drivers...some overcharge.3.its better that u find a guide , consult with him , and then come.....dont say i didnt warn u
India is one of the worst countries i visited from Asia. the food is bad and you get sick. People are too pushy and stuborn. There are so many people in the streets you cannot even walk. I should have visited Maldives , Sri Lanka and Thailand . Atleast those countries have caring people.
Plus indian airports sucks. it is too crowded and you will loose your baggages.
@TheAs57 India is one of the most beautiful countries dude.. people like you have no life.. everything has a bad point but there are many good qualities in it too. And i TOTALLY disagree with the point you said bout the food.. India has the most AWESOME food ever.. you have a really bad choice :/
@Mekki420 I have been to several other Asian Countries. I know what i am talking about and i experienced it. India is one of the worst countries i visited from Asia, you can Add Pakistan and Malaysia too. It is my experience.
ok there are better countries to visit too , like Thailand , Sri Lanka and Maldives. I would rather visit those countries because I did not have a problem and food is good and I did not get sick. People are not stuborn and pushy like the indians.
@Mekki420 Most tourists have experience they get sick from indian food, they put too much hot spicy and other rotten junk.Plus indian tour guids are annoying and wants more money, they do not have a fix amount. They try to trick the tourists. I would not visit india again even if i get a free ticket or if i have to go there for a meeting. I will pass. most of all New Delhi Air port is the worse Airport I have been so far. My baggage got lost and got it back after 5 days and indian stole stuff.
@TheAs57 I doubt that you made it a point to explore ALL of India. Despite it being a poor country (rich in history), you still need to spend to receive. You can't just go with the westerner's cheap mind-set of "Oh, I'm gonna go and live like a king for 20 bucks!". Nor can you go and think that there's immediate enlightenment awaiting to bathe you (talk'n to everyone with a Goddamn yoga mat).
Every state & country has good & low points.
India is HUGE. You need $ or patience... preferably both.
@ShanDevi1 I did spend money. I should have spent that money in a different country. I should have listen to the people who visited india and not eat the indian food. and should have gone somewhere else. Indians are pushy, stubrun , they think they know everything. you do not know what i went thru in shitty New Delhi Air port. Indians are very stuburn, They took 5 days to find my baggages. ,indians do not treat tourists well. I have been to other countries in Asia. U donot know what i went thru
@TheAs57 Okay, I get your point. You had a bad experience. I, myself, go through an intense love/hate relationship with my own city. Sometimes I think New York, the place I was born and raised, is repulsive.... then other times, I adore it.... then I leave on a high-note and disdain it from a distance, then one day I realize, I miss it and am going back though she's not what she used to be.
When I was in Morocco, the deceptive and pushy ways of the haggling men crowding the streets of the medina were not pleasant... but, I admired their persisting work ethic :-P. I'll never go back, but it was interesting. I also disliked most of France... however pretty.
Perhaps if you had friends that lived in India, you would have had a better time (less hassled and more informed).
@ShanDevi1 No I do not have friends from india. I know some people who visited india for travel . they are not Indian. They told me not to eat indian food. even if it is mild. They put 1 kilo gram of chili and spices.
Well I was expecting better service from India because I have visited South Korea , Japan , Cambodia , Sri Lanka , Maldives and Thailand . Their Air Ports are friendlier and I dd not loose my Baggages. and the tour guides and services are reasonable. india was totally different
I doubt that you made it a point to explore ALL of India. Despite it being a poor country (rich in history), you still need to spend to receive. @TheAs57 I am an Indian hindu and I totally agree to you.Apart fro this I want to add that guides and taxi drivers try to fool foreigners. Many foreign tourist have fallen ill here. Many foreign tourists are robbed, sexually abused and its very common. And yes never visit Utter Pradesh(where Taj Mahal is located), it is the mostl lawless state in India and rape capital too. Here politicians rape women and law does not work at all.
@udennyn thanks for the info. I felt like i paid more than i should. because they do not have fixed prices. yes the guides really trick tourists in india. the good thing is i did not get sexually abuse. are indian Air ports crowded and unorganized like in New Delhi ? or did i go to the worse Air Port in india ?
@TheAs57 You have the craziest Western mindset like nothing is good because its not my country. Get over yourself. 'Too much hot spicy and other junk'? Indians eat spicy food! Did you not expect that when you went there? did you expect them to change how they eat just to accommodate for you? Its tourists like you that piss me off. There are good things about every country. Learn to appreciate diversity
@alexdalong Yeah people do not agree with me. you can see it is the highest rated comment here . Why ? Lot of people have bad experiences when they visit india. i had good experiences travelling too. when i went to Namibia, Argentina, Canada, i did not have bad experiences. you must be indian to get so mad.
@alexdalong ok good. so saying the truth and real experiences are bad, from your point of view. i think what you are doing is wrong. you cannot hide the reality. if i was lieing and not telling how i felt others will not agree with me.
you will love India and their Air ports. i hope you will get to live there too.
@TheAs57 There is nothing wrong with saying your opinion. But in your case you seem biased and don't have an open mind. Those two things are essential to enjoying travel. But i guess good on your for saying what you think. May i ask what sort of accommodation you staying in there? And also what did you do as a tourist, did you just go to major attractions? And did you get out of major cities and meet Indian people who had nothing to do with the tourism industry?
@TheAs57 So how long were you in India? And how many places in India have you been? One bad experience and you are bad mouthing the entire country in public forum. It's like someone visiting Podunk, USA, having a dreadful time in the blizzard and getting cold shoulder from red necks, announced to the world, "USA sucks, all they have is terrible snow storm and narrow minded bigots, not to mention their economy sucks, streets are filled with homeless people and health care is a matter of joke..."
@TheAs57@tiasmee thats a wrong comparison, considering he visited New Delhi, how much more urbane and indian area can u get? He diffo has the right to form an opinion visiting Delhi.
Nextly, I m really sorry n ashamed that he had a bad experience in India, last i checked there are TV ads in India urging ppl to be more courteous to tourist and abstain from fleecing them, so its not like we havent done anything. lastly i hardly think he venting his anger on a forum would effect tourism to india
@MrRuggedboy27 He definitely has a right to form an opinion and share his experience. However, he isn't saying, "My experience with India is... or In my opinion, India is..." He is saying, "India is..." There is a difference between expressing someone's opinion and dishing a country.
@MrRuggedboy27 Besides, if his comments will impact India's tourism or not is not the point here, the point is if anyone who loves India will be willing to tolerate some tourist here for a month or so bad mouthing their country in a public forum. If I go to USA for a month or so and post a video that basically shows all the homeless people, drug addicts, teenage mother, prostitutes and say USA sucks, that won't harm USA, but will any American who loves his country will tolerate that?
@tiasmee this is wat i call the Bachan-slumdog phenomenon, i live in the US n everytime i have spoken to them about the homeless, hookers n the drugs Americans have either spoken of freedom of that individual(ie taking drugs) or of concern towards society as a whole, non of them have been so insecure so as to bad mouth me for pointing at them. And we as Indians should also be like that dear Tiasmee, we cant have a nationalism so flimsy tat a firangas comment on a forum can disturb it na :) peace
@na10101 isn't that amazing.. slaves are way richer than the rulers and the rulers are drowning badly in the floods if thats real then I would want India to be a slave of every country..
