Okay, this is legit, as long as you have Lamm doing it, but if it comes to a point where you have not ONE original lead vocalist....guys it'll be TIME TO STOP.
4 quarter notes down- it still swings? Bobby i hate you. i really like the vocals and that quick change at the end. One con i dont like saying i am glad that Howland is back in there. Bailey never did it for me imho. Robert Lamm is a genious. Thanks tom for posting. i love this song!
The '72 version is infinitely better, sharper vocal sound, devil may care semi chaos vibe/attitude, a tooth missing, not coifed hair - fantastic shit! Get it? in other words a little danger or the possibility of everything falling apart takes's it to another realm, people.
@socrates1818 ok, I'm gonna say this w/as much respect as I can , FUCK YOU, yes you're right the '72 version is probably better but, Chicago live, 'nuff said ?
@sirwob Are you one of those pussies that likes 80s Chicago? "Hard to Say I'm Sorry" "You're the Inspiration" & shit like that? Live At Carnegie Hall 1972, Live in Japan 1972, 'nuff said. Fuck all you 1980s wuses, all you people are responsible for ruining this great American working-class progressive jazz-rock band along with that schizophrenic traitorous butthole Cetera.
@metamorphosis67 I was a Chicago fan when they were still Chicago Transit Authority, saying the '72 version was better makes me an 80's wus? well thank you for your insights Richard Cranium
@sirwob My unreserved respect to you Sir! I have joined the club only in 1976, when I was 13 years old kid in USSR. I cannot agree with you more! After 1972 it was all downhill...
@metamorphosis67 Although I think you're being a bit harsh, I sympathise with your view. They did become a pale shadow of earlier glory, yet they then later gave us tunes to bed babes with. For myself, yes, 70s Chicago, but I'll not slate those that dig the 80s incarnation. Getting mellow in my old age.
Earth, Wind & Fire would later use this song for their 1980 hit "Back on the Road." A year later, Carl Carlton also used it for "She's a Bad Mama Jama."
people, must U hate one another? U don't even know each other, & U spread ill will that only perpetuates the ignorance around the world. are U so unhappy that to make other's feel bad makes U feel good? i continue to pray for peace among the nations & people around the world that they will see we all come from the same source, whether U like it, believe it, or understand it... peace & love & kindess toward others is the only thing that will improve your lives... forgive as He has forgiven U..

gh9448 - Really? Hmmm. You don't know your music history and you certainly don't know Chicago. Peter Cetera has been with them almost from the beginning. Jason Scheff-who? Try Wikipedia or something.
@ShananagansOnYou Sorry, but you are wrong and a jerk. I'm black, I love this song, and I have been a big fan of Chicago for probably longer than you've even been alive. So, you'd best take your racist crap elsewhere.
@ShananagansOnYou Hmmm...apparently, you also can't write a coherent sentence. That pretty much goes hand in hand with racism. Thanks for giving us some insight into what you are!
@ShananagansOnYou Don't let it slide. I'm just not going to cold call some poor unsuspecting soul based on some number posted by a RACIST IDIOT on YouTube. So, I'll tell you what...if you leave your name in addition to the number (I believe it was in the Bronx, right?) , and some proof that both the name and number are associated with the RACIST MORON "ShananagansOnYou" that is spamming this board, then I can verify that I am actually calling said MORON. I'll be more than happy to call.
@ShananagansOnYou As I said, racists can't form coherent sentences. Thank you for proving my point again. And thanks, again, for the insight into your racism. It really is much appreciated. Sunlight is an excellent disinfectant, and I think it is hilarious how racists constantly out themselves and expose the level of infection they are by not being able to control themselves. I shouldn't be surprised, though, because racists aren't exactly the brightest bulbs in the pack. LOL!
forgive me for not knowing the bass players name, but he's a breath of fresh air compared to the arrogance of Cetera. And man, can this new guy ever play the bass!
I do not quite agree with rjst09. I also heard the same song from 1972 (I was 21 then, now I'm 65) and I think their sound is a lot stronger now than then. Has also a lot to do with all the sound techniques of course. But indeed Peter Cetera is sorely missed!
@missatrebor I saw them in 99 in Traverse City and 2001 in Biloxi and I have to say their sound now is greatly developed since the 70s. They have played so long there master musicians now. They added so many fills to these old classics and its a tremendous accomplishment to have improved on already strong arrangements. Cetera was great but their fine without his ego, Terry is dearly missed.
More than any other, this song takes me back to my childhood and listening to music with my friends. My wedding day was one problem after another, including a wrong-sized tux. I was just about to lose, got in my car and this came on as I was headed to the church. I knew then that everything would be just fine. The wedding was perfect, and we recently celebrated our 21st anniversary. This song will alwasy have a special place in my soul. Thanks for sahing!

4th anniv. on this next week, TOM, Congratulations!
I've plugged this great live performance into my 1973 playlist, one of 500 playlists that will take you on a musical ride around the world and as far back through time as 1900. 111 lists will play you any year since 1900. I'm hoping younger generations will play a year, hear the artists & learn how good this music is!

This is my high school song. It was on the cafeteria juke box endlessly. Every time I hear it, I am whisked back. This is great.
