My mom's body aborted me when she was five months pregnant - I weighed 2lbs. 4oz. and dropped down to 1lb. 7oz. by the next day. They told my mom I might not survive, if I did survive I would have all sorts of problems, mental retardation, cerebral palsy, etc. But here I am, 24 years old, happily married, made a 24 on my ACT without even studying and have a degree in Court Reporting. I do, however, have Birth Hypoxic Brain Damage from being on oxygen for so long, and blindness in one eye.
I can't believe my son looks like that in my tummy right now. I said a "thank you" to God when I read that if he was born right now, he'd most likely survive. I'm so happy your baby did. <3

Im a premie, born at 26 weeks gestation in 1984, stayed in the NICU for apporx 3 months before coming home, a few health complications when I was first home, but no long term health issues that we know of:D
Thank you for sharing. You brought back many memories for me. My son was born at 26 3/7 wks. He was 2lbs. 9oz. He was in the hospital for 3 1/2 months. He was on oxygen for 1 yr & a heart monitor for 2 yrs. He went to physical therapy for 2 yrs to teach him "do all the things babies" do on their own. He is now 16 yrs old, 5'11" & a very active healthy young man. Thank GOD for technology & the love of the people who work with our NICU babies. Congratulations on your beautiful child.

I found this while searching info on babies born before 30 wks because after losing a daughter at 23 weeks (after a very bad pregnancy) last year, I am now 26 weeks and there is a good chance this little boy will be coming SOON, even just finished getting my steroid shots 'just in case'. I am so glad you had success with your preemies <3 hope is good! So happy for you!

I know exactly what you went through. My little Kloe was born at 24 weeks. She weighed 1lb. 7oz. and we didnt think she was gonna make it. She had to come home on oxygen after staying in the hospital for 3 months. God held that little girl in his hands and kept her safe and now she is off oxygen and weighs almost 10lbs and is growing stronger everyday.

wow I cried when I watched this. I have a son currently in the nicu he was born at 28 weeks. I call and check on him all the time when I am not up there and I get overwhelmed with excitement when he gains an ounce.

They are little fighters. Most parents take a lot of things for granted.
My son was born 8 weeks early and I remember being so excitedthe first time he wore a vest or when he was moved from the incubator to the cot. He was in the NICU for 3 months.
He is now 8 months old, still on home oxygen but is a wild child.

WOW MEMORIES!! my daughter born at 27 weeks, her birth weight 1.02kgs. She's now 10 months old, 17lbs and can't sit still for a second. I'm from the caribbean and just want to say it matters not where in the world we are from we all share in memories of our little babies fighting for there tiny lives. II was born at 24 weeks and weighed 600 grams at birth, the next day I dropped down to 480 grams. I was at the hospital for 6 months before I was strong enough to live without life support. I shouldn't even be alive today, and it was a miracle I survived at all. God bless your little one, she is a miracle baby! =)

My beautiful baby girl was born at 26weeks, weighing only 1.4 lbs. They held the placenta above her at birth to give her a higher blood count, gave her iron and erythropoietin, minimised blood tests wherever they could. She never once required a blood transfusion. She is now a happy, healthy 4 year old. Knowing all the diseases that they don't screen for in blood, giving any of these diseases to a neonate through a transfusion can really send them downhill. Prevention is that easy, so why not..?
my daughter was born at seven months she is now 18 going on 19 on January 1st 2011. now she' got a child of her own and he was born at 6 months he weight 2lb 7oz. he just turn 1 years old on august 22 2010. he is the light of my eyes, he is a very strong baby. he spend the first days of his life in NICU i went to see him every single day after work even if i was tired. he's here and he is here to stay. love him very,very much. good luck with your bundle of joy.
I was born at 26 weeks as well on 10/31/88, weighing 2 lbs 3 oz, and I spent three months in the hospital. I was pretty sick, but I came home and I have no real lasting effects from being born too early. I'm now a senior in college studying Public Health. I just wanna tell you and your baby girl that yes, there is life after the NICU, and that you'll both be okay. I am living proof of it. i just gave birth to two baby girls at 286 weeks one weighed 2lbs 4ounces and the other 2lbs 1ounce,they are still fighting for their life our first born has bleeding in in her brain but they say she is doing well.our second born lungs collpased and needed a breathing machine.they are doing well now.

We were not church people but we spent alot of time praying at the small chapel at the hospital when they told us she couldn't see yet, but that she could probably hear us so i thought i will sing to her and all i could think of was" silent night and Jesus loves you" they released her on my birthday unknowingly at 5 lbs God Bless.

Thak you for the simply reminder...my daughter who is 17 years old now was born at 26 weeks and weighed 1 pound 9 ounces...I can remember the weight gains were in grams not ounces. She also received blood transfussions. She would love to and signed up to donate blood but she has inherited a condition from me that prevents us from doing so. I was born at 26 weeks, 14 weeks premature almost 20 years ago, and weighed 1lb 14oz. I always glimpse at the photos every so often just to make my self realise again how lucky I am to be here today. I wouldn't see myself as really religious, however, I believe that God saved me because he had plans for me, whether this is true I don't know.

I'm so happy for you that things turned out good for you. My story's similar to yours. My little girl was born at 26 weeks weighing 2 lbs 7 oz. She grew stronger each day. She came home six weeks later weighing 4 lbs. She was a very healthy child and went on to have 8 babies of her own, but lost her 8th before he was born. He was on oxygen for 1 yr & a heart monitor for 2 yrs. He went to physical therapy for 2 yrs to teach him "do all the things babies" do on their own. He is now 16 yrs old, 5'11" & a very active healthy young man. Thank GOD for technology & the love of the people who work with our NICU babies. Congratulations on your beautiful child.

wow..Im bawling. I found this while searching info on babies born before 30 wks because after losing a daughter at 23 weeks (after a very bad pregnancy) last year, I am now 26 weeks and there is a good chance this little boy will be coming SOON, even just finished getting my steroid shots 'just in case'. I am so glad you had success with your preemies <3 hope is good! So happy for you!

I know exactly what you went through. My little Kloe was born at 24 weeks. She weighed 1lb. 7oz. and we didnt think she was gonna make it. She had to come home on oxygen after staying in the hospital for 3 months. God held that little girl in his hands and kept her safe and now she is off oxygen and weighs almost 10lbs and is growing stronger everyday.

wow I cried when I watched this. I have a son currently in the nicu he was born at 28 weeks. I call and check on him all the time when I am not up there and I get overwhelmed with excitement when he gains an ounce.

They are little fighters. Most parents take a lot of things for granted.
My son was born 8 weeks early and I remember being so excitedthe first time he wore a vest or when he was moved from the incubator to the cot. He was in the NICU for 3 months.
He is now 8 months old, still on home oxygen but is a wild child.

this is heart breakin.ive had three children,two of them was very prem my first was 3 month early and my second one was 2 month early.there was a baby is scby who was 4 month early and im pleased to say she and both my boys are alive and well.i own scbu a lot.my third child is a girl and i went over with her,lol.all the best to you and your family.

I was also born premature. I was born at 24 weeks and weighed 1lb 8oz. I am almost 17 now and will graduate highschool next year. I hope to become a neonatal nurse in the NICU! God sure does amazing things! We are all blessed!

This is so inspirational. My daughter is almost 21 weeks with severe complications. The Drs suggested she abort, but they are not God and we don't believe in playing God. She will be admitted @ 24 weeks. Induced @ 34, but no promise she will make it to 34 without delivering. Thanks so much for this video. She is the one who found it. WOW MEMORIES!! my daughter born at 27 weeks, her birth weight 1.02kgs. She's now 10 months old, 17lbs and can't sit still for a second. I'm from the caribbean and just want to say it matters not where in the world we are from we all share in memories of our little babies fighting for there tiny lives. Best of luck to those who have babies in the NICU, there is nothing stronger than the power pray, keep faith in God and he will see you through.

II was born at 24 weeks and weighed 600 grams at birth, the next day I dropped down to 480 grams. I was at the hospital for 6 months before I was strong enough to live without life support. I shouldn't even be alive today, and it was a miracle I survived at all. God bless your little one, she is a miracle baby! =)

My beautiful baby girl was born at 26weeks, weighing only 1.4 lbs. They held the placenta above her at birth to give her a higher blood count, gave her iron and erythropoietin, minimised blood tests wherever they could. She never once required a blood transfusion. She is now a happy, healthy 4 year old. Knowing all the diseases that they don't screen for in blood, giving any of these diseases to a neonate through a transfusion can really send them downhill. Prevention is that easy, so why not..?

my daughter was born at seven months she is now 18 going on 19 on January 1st 2011. now she' got a child of her own and he was born at 6 months he weight 2lb 7oz. he just turn 1 years old on august 22 2010. he is the light of my eyes, he is a very strong baby. he spend the first days of his life in NICU i went to see him every single day after work even if i was tired. he's here and he is here to stay. love him very,very much. good luck with your bundle of joy.

I was born at 26 weeks as well on 10/31/88, weighing 2 lbs 3 oz, and I spent three months in the hospital. I was pretty sick, but I came home and I have no real lasting effects from being born too early. I'm now a senior in college studying Public Health. I just wanna tell you and your baby girl that yes, there is life after the NICU, and that you'll both be okay. I am living proof of it. If you want, I can get you in touch with my mom, who hosts a yearly "Life after the NICU" conference.

My little girl Kathrine Elizabeth ( katie) was born at 2 pounds 2 ounces and is 1 years old now. She was born Aug 10, 2009. Congradulations on your little miracle. they are very good babies. i stayed at the hospital with my daughter for 5 months and she is absolutely perfect and doing very well.

i just gave birth to two baby girls at 286 weeks one weighed 2lbs 4ounces and the other 2lbs 1ounce,they are still fighting for their life our first born has bleeding in in her brain but they say she is doing well.our second born lungs collpased and needed a breathing machine.they are doing well now.

We were not church people but we spent alot of time praying at the small chapel at the hospital when they told us she couldn't see yet, but that she could probably hear us so i thought i will sing to her and all i could think of was" silent night and Jesus loves you" they released her on my birthday unknowingly at 5 lbs God Bless.

Thak you for the simply reminder...my daughter who is 17 years old now was born at 26 weeks and weighed 1 pound 9 ounces...I can remember the weight gains were in grams not ounces. She also received blood transfussions. She would love to and signed up to donate blood but she has inherited a condition from me that prevents us from doing so. I was born at 26 weeks, 14 weeks premature almost 20 years ago, and weighed 1lb 14oz. I always glimpse at the photos every so often just to make my self realise again how lucky I am to be here today. I wouldn't see myself as really religious, however, I believe that God saved me because he had plans for me, whether this is true I don't know.

I'm so happy for you that things turned out good for you. My story's similar to yours. My little girl was born at 26 weeks weighing 2 lbs 7 oz. She grew stronger each day. She came home six weeks later weighing 4 lbs. She was a very healthy child and went on to have 8 babies of her own, but lost her 8th before he was born. She developed type 1 diabetes when she was in her early 20's (she's now 28) and went into DKA at 35 weeks during labor, losing the baby and almost her, too. She's hurting so
