that is just awesome, but you know what? Until now I never realized that Duke actually played the drums,...not to mention that the detail that goes into the facial expressions when the characters sing...
DUDE, this video was anything but irrelevent! I was sent Pop, Lock, and Drop it and could tell it had to be programmed. F#%KIG AMAZING. As an artist I think these incorrectly labeled "mas ups" are POP art genius.
It took you three days to program these two characters by themselves, but how long does it take to do a complete song, with all the cast? Just curious to know! :)
Even though you're a beginner, you're very good at what you do!
Oh! Do you work on them longer during the weekends though? Given what you've told me, you work on them for at least 40 hours Monday through Friday! Thats pretty impressive work! It must take a lot of patience to keep trying to get a character right...
Appreciate this video explaining exactly, what's involved with programming, animating and syncing songs/notes to each robot.. High Fvie from me Bro.. :)
Don't let youtube posters get you riled. You know how much work you put into it and viewers with half a brain know how much work goes into something like this.
Considering the, let's face it, downright stupidity of the average youtube poster, my advice is just ignore the critics and enjoy your show.
I think it's pretty unique and fun to watch and I hope you continue to have fun with it.
hey.. all i gotta say is i dont no shit about computers or anything, but i think ur fucking awesome.. I wish I had these guys in my house too man!! ROCK ON!!!
dont listen to those haters that talk sh!t and criticize! they dont deserve any type of explanation. they try to make themselves bigger by making others smaller. youtube is full of big typers. forget them
I understand that this is hard work, I worked with computers involving media at media classes in college. I would like to see the process on how to make one those characters move to a song, from computer typing and clicking to the actual movement.
Yeah, me too. I was expecting a behind-the-scenes type of video to be honest. CT may think it's boring or irrelevant, but the technical details of how you actually get these things to move fascinates me.
i second the desire to see how the actual programming happens? what sort of interface do you use? how is it done?! i grew up watching these "guys" so this would be really cool to see!
Thank you so much for doing this, ChrisThrash! I think it's amazing! I had the records and had a few birthday parties at Showbiz Pizza Place! How did you acquire these guys? It's amazing!
This is great. What I'd love to see is a step-by-step process, i.e. program 5 seconds of drumming and show the software you use to set it up. Good stuff, keep up the good work.
w o w. you are amazing. this is really good!!! Duke is a better drummer than I am, I think (lol). By the way you said some stuff it sounds like some people were antagonizing you, but I hope they weren't because this is really cool.
Very awesome. I am pleased to still see the anamatronics still in working order. Glad you and previous owners have gone to efforts to preserve this bit of childhoods everywhere. Keep up the awesome!
WOW! You have done an awesome job so far.... I AM a software developer and I can totally appreciate the amount of time it takes and the attention to details that quite often go un-noticed.
Don't get discouraged... your awesome! Keep on crankin these videos out!
Please do Aphex Twin - window licker :D. I think id crap myself seeing an anamatronic bear drum out some snare rushes. Amazing work, looks like painstaking work, you really do have a mind for detail.
I think your work is very interesting. Do you put on live shows for people, and if so, do you charge admission? I cant say Ive been too impressed with your choices of songs, but everyones tastes are different. Ive watched some of the videos you have so far and I could tell even before I came across this one that alot of work was put into sychronized body movements.
it blows my mind that you got that dog to actually play the drums on time and even hit the high hat/ while closing it at the perfect time. Like damn.
Can I borrow that drummer? Ours is a flake, so having a programmable one that always plays the correct beat and is always on time for rehearsal would be great!
I've always wondered about programming these things. Do you use a programming 'language' to do it or what? Also, does each animatronic system (whether it be CEI or Disney or whatever) use a different custom made 'programming language' or 'system'?
Wow - this is awesome. There's nothing like this in the UK, so I think it's great that the first time I've seen an animatronic band they were yours, doing Ms New Booty =)
Now, have you considered Novocaine for the Soul by Eels? =D
If anyone gives you any sort of criticism over what you've accomplished, screw 'em. This is very original and very entertaining to watch. Your attention to detail is impressive. While it may not be perfect in your eyes, my eyes don't see it that way.
Great stuff! I can only imagine how hard it is to get the drums right working with that kit and the software. You'll be making your own beats in time as you iron that out.
That said, I gave you 5 stars. You make me wish I had bought a Lion that looked like Elvis (Chuck E Cheese's?) at a second hand coin op store when I had the chance...
gosh chris, where do i begin? i simply <3 u! you're too humble. i think what you have done is amazing. don't let people's criticism ever prohibit you from doing something you love and that brings such entertainment to others. continue to strive for perfection in your product. i sang in a band and performing is never an exact science. BTW is this a real showbiz pizza place in AL?? my 3 month old was mezmorized while i was playing your show on my computer. anyways, keep up the good work ;-) jen
After seeing this christhrash, I must say I have so much respect for you. I admire you sir and you look into this with the nostalgia I felt growing up with this at showbiz (now cec). Keep on keeping on pal.
Nice job. I don't know how anybody would think it's just slamming buttons, even before seeing this. I would say the quality of your shows is on par with the original show programmers, if not better. Your attention to detail clearly pays off.
This is absolutely fantastic. I would just like to know where you acquired the entire stage and what you use for programming (considering the old tapes are a bit outdated and difficult to change.)
You seem like the nicest guy - I'm amazed at all this. I always wanted to own a bar with the Rock-a-fire explosion playing. It's really cool to see someone else get to do that. Where do they perform?
I concur. I would love to see more of the technical stuff, getting to see the control systems, how the software works and maybe even some of the raw animatronics.
