  • People irritate me with the "too skinny" BS! She looks absolutely beautiful they way she is. She is fit and she is content with her weight. That's great!

  • for me, karl urban=eomer always :D

  • I'm in love!!!

  • dominican beauty

  • @pinolero13 She's Dominican and Puerto Rican, so she's a doubly exotic hottie.

  • i love karl's accent. *fan-girl giggle*

  • honestly if zoe can add a little weight she ill be perfect, dont get me wrong zoe is beautiful but she is too skinny

  • this girl is so hot that even her avatar character , you can see her beauty come through

  • All I saw was her beautiful face moving. What did she say??

  • Comment removed

  • the touch, the feel, of cottons...the touch the feel cottons the fabric of our lifes" lolol sorry im still kinda high & i feel kinda zangy ^_^

  • Urhura and Spock make perfect sense? Are you insane? xD

  • Zoe Saldana is taking over as the blockbuster flick queen

  • Zoe's accent sounds so sexy,so seductive-like a femme fatale...

  • zoe is beatiful.always admired her .

  • Help me get hits.....send dis shit around....ur my SK...YouTube - Elements Of Life (betta) by Tiesto

  • She's Hot!!!

  • @AaronH9111 Help me get hits.....send dis shit around....ur my SK...YouTube - Elements Of Life (betta) by Tiesto

  • i like karl urban. but he always looks angry

  • @jovialduke it's because he's beached as bro! XD nah, he's cool. he was in doom and he's now in star trek :D

  • i only watched this movie because zoe was in it i think zoe is the most prettiest actress i have ever seen in a movie

  • We love you Zoe Saldana.

  • in avatar, does she make up that accent cuz here she has a normal american "accent"

  • I wasn't even going to comment in this... but what the hell is wrong with everybody saying she's not black? What is she then? Latina? Ok, she might be, but that doesn't mean she's not black, wich is more than obvious that she is... anyways, she's gorgeous and I love her :P

  • she said in an interview in cosmopolitan mag that she feels like the luckiest black woman this year, which means that she sees herself as a black girl.

  • I don't believe the Spock/Uhura relationship was a stretch or a big surprise at all, considering it had been hinted at several times in the show. They flirted off and on so I think what J.J did is just play on that and take it a step further since at the time, the show could not do what the movie did.

  • Karl Urban is GORGEOUS!! He is pure SEX sitting in that chair!! YUM!!!! LOVED The Star Trek movie too!!!!

  • she's not black...ignorant

  • yeah she is, what is she then? :/

  • shes Dominican and purtirican black and latin but she considers her self a black women

  • She is half Dominican and half Puerto Rican. For your info, ALL Dominicans and Puerto Ricans are LATINS.

  • @Obamaownswhitesnow Yes, but she calls herself black latina. Her father is black dominican, and her mother is puerto rican. There a some latinas with white ancestry and some with black, hers happens to be black.

  • She is so FINE!!! I've loved her since I saw STAR TREK last May. She outdoes herself in AVATAR. AVATAR is a revelation. And a revolution, in Western thought and feeling. THe beauty of the message against EMINENT DOMAIN, is stunning, and visceral.

  • @Beamshipcaptain I agree. A beautiful woman and an amazing actress. She chooses really good roles to play.

  • I think its the other way around, the roles choose her, and she is a scince-fiction fan bigtime since childhood, so that speaks to her attractiveness, and normalcy right there. She's awesome. Wonder if she has a boyfriend? AVATAR is now the number one grossing movie of all time, and it only took 40 days to reach that total, of $1.8 Billion in worldwide ticket sales, most ofthem in 3D. My favorite movie of all time, it BURIED STAR WARS!

  • Its not number one when you adjust for inflation.

  • Nobody adjusts for inflation. What counts is the bottom line. And that bottom line is more than any other film in history. And deservedly so.

  • Some people are just born like that.

  • she isn't black, but she is preety!

  • She is fines yes but she is NOT black brother. Her dad is dominican and her mom puerto rican, she was born and raise id Dominican Republic until she was ten(10) and then her family moved to US. She is 100% Latina.

  • Actually in an interview with David Letterman she said she was born in New Jersey, raised in Queens and moved to the Dominican Republic when she was 10.

  • Something like that, I was close, lol! But, her blood is 100% latino for sure, hands down.

  • she is half black and half puerto rican.and she said in an interview with cleo mag that she sees hersef as a black woman cos everyone thing that she looks more black.and farther said: i feel like the luckiest black woman this year after avatar and star trek.

  • she is Dominican and Puerto Rican. not afro american.

  • @iHateKids555 Those are nationalities. She is black latina. You can be black irish, black italian, etc. She happens to be black latina. Her father is black dominican, and mother black puerto rican.

  • yea, she said in many interviews, putting the accent that she is a BLACK woman :)

  • Dominicans and Puerto Ricans have African lineage as well as European. Which explains her otherworldly beauty...

  • @satifastion I didnt see the whole thing. Anyway, she is cute regardless.

  • Those who say the newest star trek movie was shit, didn't understand it.

  • Karl Urban is Kiwi you silly fools!

  • Zoe is too sexy for words, she is just too hot for words.

  • Agree. That means she is latina, lol! Latinas are sooooooooooooo hot.

  • I agree, she is so sexy, it should be dangerous to get close to her lol

  • What about Michelle Rodriguez? mmmmmmmmmmmm! She is kinda dikey but sexy and DANGEROUS too!

  • She is sexy too but Zoe got her down packed as far as the looks. they are both dangerously hot!

  • @bowiehs I would hit them both, lol!

  • lol i`m sure you would, they are hot.

    thanks for the friend request.

  • Doesn't matter what they say, Star Trek XI was SHIT! Pure and total SHIT!

  • ZOE IS HOTTER THAN BIG FAT BEYONCE

  • Damn right!!!

  • thats rude

  • zoe is best uhura ever with all respect to the older amazing actors

Meet my expectations and i admit that they were high

  • eh regardless of how Zoey attempts to justify Spock's and Uhura's relationship seemed a little forced/out of no where. Given the expectation of sequels they should have let it mount.

I was disappointed w/ the fact that Vulcan had no defenses? A drill shooting into ur planet and nothing to fight against it?

Another issue was Starfleet to using recruits on their flagship, any standing military would have more than just a bunch of cadets. Kirk's rapid promotion from Cadet to Captain is another

  • zoe is 10x better

  • how much does she look like thandie newton?

  • even her mum once thought she was thandie.

    on a billboard.

  • Gorgeous+intelligent+eloquent+talented= Zoe.

  • Go Karl as McCoy

  • I LIKE ZOE SHE'S SO ALLURING

  • Karl Urban was excellent as McCoy, I didn't even recocnize him from The Two Towers. Completely different mimics and postures, amazing performance. Zoe Saldana is just ... hot.

  • whoa u mean he played eomer? i didnt see that at all! rofl

  • Karl was so good in McCoy's role. I think DeForest would have been proud. Zoe was hot - definitely a new twist on Uhura's role - I like the sassier alternate reality version of the character.

  • Zoe is my wife to bad she doesnt know :(

  • if Zoe is your wife, then Zachary is my husband =]

  • yes. chemisty. >:|

  • Karl Urban did an exceptional job as "Bones." As for Zoe, she's very lovely and her portrayal of Uhura was awesome!

  • Zoe Saldana is SO SEXY!!!!!!!

  • uhura//spock thing was the worst thing in the film

  • why so?

  • Firstly it was a pretty pointless romance just for the sake of it, which didnt even make sense because spock isn't meant to show emotions, the only times he has to stop suppressing them and take a mate is once every seven years. He wasn't supposed to be having his ponn farr during this film. Though I have to say I've warmed to the idea more after finding out the uhura/kirk kiss in TOS was originally going to be uhura/spock.

  • "Poinless romance for the sake of it "?! WTF?! Did you completely miss Spock's story in the film?! Did you miss him struggling to find a balance between his emotions and logic, having his planet destroyed, his mother die? His father admitting he loved Spock's HUMAN mother (something that never happened in the prime timeline)? I guess you just couldn't understand any of it because want to see one-dimensional characters without any developnent.

  • If, say, Kirk had hooked up up with Uhura, it would've been a pointless romance just for the sake of it. But Spock being in love and struggling with whether to show emotions or not, is a HUGE thing, it is extremely important for his story, which is an extremely EMOTIONAL one. - yes.

  • And what does Pon Farr have to do with anything? Was he going crazy out of the urge to have sex? Nope. That's all that Pon Farr is, the time when Vulcans must have sex. It is not the only time can have sex, or when they can have a relationship. It's not liek Spock's parents were only togerher once in 7 years and went their separate ways the rest of the time! Sarek was a full Vulcan and yet he fell in love and had a happy marriage with a human woman, but Spock can't possibly have a relationship?

  • EXACTLY who would find an unemotional prick attractive when u could have kirk

  • uhura ended up with kirk in the serial movie right?? but personally, i like spock better.you know he's the cool guy when you couldn't find anyone worth looking at..

  • First of all, you are forgetting that Spock is half human. Second of all, Vulcans DO have emotions, ALL of the time. Their culture is, at present, their desire to CONTROL their emotions. Can't control something you don't have. Thirdly, take a look at the Star Trek TOS and you will see, PLAINLY, that Spock has a connection with Uhura that he has with none of the other woman on the ship. I'm an original Trekkie and I have always known that, along with a whole lot of other Trekkies.

  • It was Gene Roddenberry's original idea to have a flirtation between Uhura and Spock -- ever hear him talk about the show or see the original plans fo r the show. The networks nixed it.

  • I guess its quite cool then if this is true

  • though I imagine it would've been more along the lines of what they did with nurse chapel and spock... which was have her in love with him and him just pretty much ignore her since he cant show emotion.

  • It depends on what "legend" or story you hear or read from the books on the original show. I remember reading on of the books by one of the co-producers about that kiss being intended for Uhura and Spock, then Shatner supposedly said it should be Kirk. They were all angry because he had to play it like he didn't want to do it. I do agree that there was a spark between Uhura and Kirk, so placing her with Spock was sneaky.

  • I think actually the kirk/uhura relationship in this film actually played into that awkwardness that I thought was pretty cool (intentional or not). I heard shatner said it should be kirk, and kirk made the kiss more than just a peck, which the cameraman etc got pissed off about (as shes black). So they actually recorded 2 versions, and in the second one where it wasnt much of a kiss, shatner crossed his eyes and spoiled the take. Nobody realised until the next day.

  • Heard that too. I have Nichelle's autobiography around somewhere and a book about the production. It's been a while. I'll try to find them for the stories.

  • There WAS a flirtation between Uhura and Spock in TOS - in early episodes like Mantrap and Charlie X. But then they quickly dropped it (except in little hints, something like once in 15 episodes). I bet it was due to network and 1960s taboos on interracial relationships.

Nichols said in her autobiography that the backstory they had for Uhura was that she was a linguistic scholar, a top graduate of the Starfleet Academy, and that Spock was her mentor and the person she admired the most.

  • This movie restored some of the original backstories: according to the original character notes, McCoy joined the Starfleet after a bitter divorce.

And as for Spock's relationship with Uhura ibeing allegedly OOC for him, a part of his backstory was that he had had some youthful indiscretions with human woman/women, which created professional and personal troubles, and made him decide to avoid much contact with them...

  • "Spock's "hypnotic" looks strongly affect Earth females and he goes to great pains too avoid too much contact with them. There is a back story on this - many years ago when Mr. Spock first joined the service, he was careless on this score, perhaps even enjoyed this strange ability over Earth women. But it quickly created both personal and professional troubles." - from Roddenberry's memo to Nimoy in 1966 (quoted in Nimoy's book "I Am Spock")

  • the problem was there was no build up in the romance or tension it was all the sudden they were together etc.. Also the two had basically no chemistry, Kurt and Ohura had much more sexual tension etc... Spock and her together was the only thing that annoyed me about the movie the rest was great

  • I felt hints that Mr. Spock was dipping in the choc when she confronted him about the ship he assigned her to. Needless to say, it's a good thing he quickly relented, else she'd have been obliterated with the rest of the cadets.

  • he was giving her some vulcan foreplay. lol

  • You're such a big fan that you're calling them Kurt and Ohura? LOL Actually Spock and Uhura had loads of chemistry... they had great chemistry in TOS, too. Kirk and Uhura had no "sexual tension" - sexual tension implies some mutual attraction, and that did not exist. He had the hots for her, she didn't care and thought he was being a jerk. You've seen too many lame movies so you think that a woman will start liking a guy just because he is persistant. Trust me, it doesn't work tjay way in RL.

  • why can't I find up to 3 indepth interviews of zoe saldana about her role in star trek on youtube? seriously. I don't mean to race bait but if a skinny, pretty white woman had this role, she'll be everywhere...non-stop interviews and coverage. It's really a shame. SMH,

  • Zoe is going to be a big movie star, she is already being recognized for her wonderful acting abilities. I feel like the industry just isn't ready for a beautiful black woman if her name aint Halle Berry or Beyonce, but Zoe is going to make it big, just watch.

  • Yes! I've seen the movie thank you very much. If Star Trek isn't all that good anyway, then why are you watching and commenting on this video?

She may not have been the main character but she's one of the actors who get top billing so she also deserves some attention. Uhura has always been and will always be a major part of the Star Trek franchise. It would be nice to see some in depth interviews with Zoe discussing the character of Uhura.

  • I was just thinking the same thing. Even when they list the actors I've seen her left off. What is up with that? Her face is on that poster out front! Her romance with Spock was a big Wow moment in the movie and has been very well received. So where is she?

  • great interview ! thanx fo sharing !

  • Hahaha =D I was kind of 'o_O?' too.

  • I love Karl\Bones. :D This is the only time I've had a crush on Bones. lol.

  • I will say, Karl Urban is one fine Aussie.

  • Karl is from New Zealand. You can tell the differences between "Kiwis" and Aussies in their accents. They sort of have the same accents, but if you listen carefully, there is a difference. :)

  • Thanks for the correction; I'll have to listen to both to distinguish the difference. Either way, he is TOO FINE!

  • Now there, there can be no disagreements. ;)

  • I believe he's a Kiwi. :)

  • idk... to me the most entertaining was the kid who played checkoff (forgive the spelling. lol).

  • lol. they rail roaded us from the trailer that there was something between the two. sly with the editing fellas! Uhuru likes that Vulcan flava!!

  • I did too but Zoe & Zach had such great chemistry. They made it work.. but I'm still holding out for Uhura/Kirk to hook up in the sequel :)

  • So you want them to make Uhura a hoe? lol

  • No way! Spock should totally get Uhura! The nerd NEVER gets the girl..... It's nice to have a change. Eh eh eh....

  • spocks not a nerd though. he's just a pointy eared bastard. chekov should get the girl, he's a pure nerd.

  • So, you want the Kirk/Spock friendship destroyed, Kirk to be portrayed as a total douchebag who will hot on his best friend's girlfriend, and Uhura to become the trophy 'love babe' of the Enterprise, going back and forth from one guy to another? Ugh. Since I don't think that the writers and director will completely lose their minds and decide to destroy the characters and make them annoying, I am sure there will be no Kirk/Uhura hookup in the sequels. What a stupid idea.

  • It was implied in the original series that Uhura and Spock had an attraction, but nothing could be shown of on the show since interracial relationships were so taboo at the time.

  • Karl Urban nailed the role beautifully. Deforest Kelly would have bee proud!!

  • Yes, Karl did a great job!

  • This is great!!!
