This is a wonderful story of how God can do miraculous things through even the smallest of people. I love to hear stories of how God has worked through people to spread his Word. He is an amazing God.

The story is a variation of a real story. The student was Richard Harvey and the professor was Dr. Lee. It happened in a Chemistry class at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania in the 1920's. However, Dr. Lee was a deist who annually lectured against prayers... with a glass flask (not chalk). That day Richard offered to pray and the professor dropped the flask and it rolled off his shoe to the floor without damage.

I'm no physicist, but chalk does not shatter into a million pieces. In fact, if I dropped a whole unused piece of chalk on the ground from 4 or 5 feet, it would only break in (maybe) three places. Does anyone even truly believe this is actually a true story, either believers or nonbelievers? I mean just think about it; what college would allow one of their teacher's to act like that? faith is being able to believe in something with one fact, that is you can trust in something without fact. it doesnt have to link directly into religon, you have to have faith in almost everything you do and everyone you trust. and faith isnt just for an average joe, MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. once said "faith is taking the first step even if you dont see the whole staircase" now you may say they are going to fall, but i have faith that a friend, or family member, or God will be there to help me.

Explain how gravity is there? It's one of the 4 fundamental forces of the universe. When an object has sufficient mass and density it bends space/time and that effect is what we observe as gravity. I could just as easily ask how could there be god? There are no facts or pieces of evidence that support the existence of any deities and lots that support the effects and existence of gravity.
This is a wonderful story of how God can do miraculous things through even the smallest of people. I love to hear stories of how God has worked through people to spread his Word. He is an amazing God.

The story is a variation of a real story. The student was Richard Harvey and the professor was Dr. Lee. It happened in a Chemistry class at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania in the 1920's. However, Dr. Lee was a deist who annually lectured against prayers... with a glass flask (not chalk). That day Richard offered to pray and the professor dropped the flask and it rolled off his shoe to the floor without damage.

I'm no physicist, but chalk does not shatter into a million pieces. In fact, if I dropped a whole unused piece of chalk on the ground from 4 or 5 feet, it would only break in (maybe) three places. You know it is truly sad to me how many comments i see discriminating the Bible and one religion Christianity. Come on guys why can't us Christians stand up for the religion. I admire and respect all the comments defending this video on how truly amazing it is but I think if we are witnessing that we should portray the faith, that means no swear words. I just love how because there is no evidence for the existence of Jesus Christ the Lord, christians will continually point to "miracles" and claim that is the proof.
A coincidental chalk story is not a divine miracle..show me a man having his limbs regenerate then ill believe in the christian god.
Im not an "evil" Atheist, btw. I just dont believe in religion.

You can't say my beliefs are without evidence, as while mine are based upon facts, yours my friend is not. Give me proof, I've been looking for it since I became an atheist.

That's ok, most other Christians haven't read the bible either, apparently learning about your religion is too much to ask. Prayer is not a powerful thing, in fact numerous studies have shown it has no effect at all. Every religion claims that their god answers prayer, what's different about your religious claims and theirs? Why should I believe you and not them?

Would a college professor who studies philosophy really prove his entire belief of atheism with a simple a drop of chalk? In reality.... NO. I know its a fake story, but it has no sense of reason. faith is being able to believe in something with one fact, that is you can trust in something without fact. it doesnt have to link directly into religon, you have to have faith in almost everything you do and everyone you trust. and faith isnt just for an average joe, MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. once said "faith is taking the first step even if you dont see the whole staircase" now you may say they are going to fall, but i have faith that a friend, or family member, or God will be there to help me.

faith is to have trust in something. thats it. Its a noun with the similar meaning of "trust" and "believe" I can have faith that the forwards on my soccer team will score goals, right? Everyone should have faith. However, Its still possible to put faith into something without being reasonable. A young child has deep faith that Santa Clause comes every christmas eve, even though it is not true. He believes that cuz his parents told him so. He has no fact. A similar situation, yes?

Gravity is theory to, germ theory, plate tectonics, etc. A scientific theory is a scientific idea that is supported by all available evidence and makes testable predictions that can be falsified. The discovery of the cell and DNA has done nothing but support evolutionary theory. A theory is not baseless speculation in science as it is in the colloquial sense. You need to understand the subject before making stupid comments.

Explain how gravity is there? It's one of the 4 fundamental forces of the universe. When an object has sufficient mass and density it bends space/time and that effect is what we observe as gravity. I could just as easily ask how could there be god? There are no facts or pieces of evidence that support the existence of any deities and lots that support the effects and existence of gravity.
