  • Made my day.

  • @recyk1....where did you find the DVD of this concert. Is the quality good? Sure would like to own a copy!

  • It IS kind of a tear-jerker. Thanks.

  • Muito lindo. Valeu. Mesmo de outro continente curto demais. Obrigado.

  • This made me cry when I saw the concert on DVD, I think it is the best song of all that were performed that night, and what a night of fantastic People, Thank you to Carolyn Hester and Nanci Griffith for making it so from the heart. Loved it. Recy Australia

  • sadly, this one isnt included on the cds of the concert.

  • thanks to the one who knows the name of the guitarist on the left side of Nancy Griffith.thanks to Bob Dylan ,thanks to us all,& to youtube too.

  • @007MICHELINE My guess wd be Frank Christian

  • @soubbotnik It's James McMurtry, another Texan. Great singer wsongwriter.

  • @brucefetter Thanks a lot, Bruce because you gave me the opportunity to look for videos and recordings of McMurtry's – but... but... I'm sorry to disagree. What was a simple guess became a certainty. It's Frank Christian alright. But wow! the tribute of Texas to American first rate music is so, so impressive!!!! - andcoming from a New Yorker, this is as objective a judgment as can ever be :) :)

  • @soubbotnik Yes, I also figured that out after I posted that, bc in another nanci song in another concert it gives credit for the guitar and it's Frank. If you can get a chance, check out McMurty's first album, Too Long In The Wasteland. It is just amazing. Stories are so vivid.

  • sadly this perfromance was never released on the cd or dvd verions of the dylan tribute concert.. it is - in my humble opinion - one of the best, if not THE best performance of that entire concert.... beautiful arrangement and the voices are perfect...

  • Give me back that simply composed video with the original score of Dylan's true song by Nanci ONLY!

  • lovely stuff

  • BEAUTIFUL DUET. Oh to have heard all the verses. I'm certain Dylan was smiling when he heard this after all it was HIS birthday. I imagine it gives him great pleasure for someone to rearrange his song & perform it in excellance. I would like to hear Carolyn sing this version as a solo for I believe she has the most profound pure voice, "The Texas Songbird." Bob played harmonica only on her 3rd, but 1st album with Columbia records. I think he is underrated on the harmonica.

  • Great, but she doesn't sing all the verses. Almost certainly due to time constraints. But still, gorgeous. I remember

  • @unclebobunclebob ....Hey Uncle Bob see "Nancy Griffith - boots of Spanish Leather (live)" on utoob for the extended version - 'tis superb!

  • This is the best version of this song! I am so attracted to Nanci here.

  • It`s her ankles, she has nice lower legs. She looks long , sleek and sexy when she wears a dress. She is always pretty.

  • Things have come full circle when we realize that Carolyn and Nanci sort of introduced Bob to the world when they helped get him on his first recording back in September of 1961 playing harmonica on Carolyn's Columbia record.

  • Nanci was 8 years old in 1961.

  • Good point. I was thinking about Carolyn in the other video that you can see on your right called "Carolyn Hester and Bob Dylan," when he is playing in support of her -- as she was more well known then. In this performance on Dylans 30th anniversary, she plays in support of him. This was the interesting connection I was trying to point out.

  • Havn't seen this performance - was it cut from the concert tapes? Shouldn't have been, if it was.

  • Thanks for posting this classic. The guitar and harmonica play compliment Nanci's beautiful voice. It was nice to see Carol added to this performance as she had so much history with Dylan.

  • Thanks for posting this version of Spanish Boots by Nanci and Carolyn. Rumor has it that Dylan requested Nanci's version for this 30th Anniversary Special in 1992; easy to see why.

  • I seen her sing this song so many times, but have always wanted to see this version because I've heard so much about it. thanks for posting it.
