The plan should be similar to the plan used to get troops out of Vietnam, except a lot less running and more security from our allies in the region, you know all those Iraqi military we trained. Just as there are turn overs of bases to incoming troops and exit of entire brigades every year. We turn over the bases to the Iraqi government and military and leave. In Vietnam we sent CAP units to train and protect villages from the communists. Duc Duc was one such place. In 1971 we started pulling the CAPs out. You can guess what happened next. The communists rolled in and slaughtered them. This is what will happen in Iraq. not sure what CAP is wiki it.

We aided Afghanistan against Russia in the early '80's and didn't help with the rebuilding process. Eventually Bin Laden came to their rescue and they plotted against us since then. When a nation goes to war they must rebuild what they have destroyed or they will suffer the consequences for not being a responsible being.

The plan should be similar to the plan used to get troops out of Vietnam, except a lot less running and more security from our allies in the region, you know all those Iraqi military we trained. Just as there are turn overs of bases to incoming troops and exit of entire brigades every year. We turn over the bases to the Iraqi government and military and leave. Not as difficult as you are making it out to be. In fact there will be continued violence in the region, but it is their country not ours

Desiring the government to change their policy does not mean that one does not "support the troops." Their orders come from DC and I for one would like to see our policy change. I was in the military and have respect for all those who serve, but we need to reexamine the policies that hurt our nation and cost over $1 trillion per year. Also, your facts are wrong. A good portion of the soldiers want to come home. And when will the "job be finished?" The goal keeps changing.

I have a question...Those who rooted for war in Iraq NOW want us to go into Iran..Should we go in also? And once we are in it...will you be saying... "We can't get out of Iran cause it will be a mess! This is what they count on..get us into the war with lies and then we can't pull out even if we want to.

What are we still fighting about? Saddam is dead. al-queda is still around because were using government issued money to train Iraqi soldiers who could very well wake up one morning and join al-queda. this whole thing is fucked up, and I feel sorry for whoever the next president is.
