Regarding the various spices: my best information suggests that cloves and allspice are the same thing....yes or no? The smell identical to me? Any suggestions??
oh my goodness this looks good. knowing it is coney island style is awesome too. i've never been there and i've always wanted to taste those nathan's dogs.
Good golly that does look good. Going to do some dogs on the grill with this sauce. And have your baked calico beans to go along with it perhaps. Thanks again!

@ganthonyvr Hi. I'm not sure if the entire hot dog would be considered greek style. It's more that the sauce itself came about by Greek immigrants in their restaurants. Some people also call it Coney Island sauce or Texas Hots. I hope you can give it a try. The aroma and taste of the sauce are amazing.
@usafireandrescue oh believe me i am trying it specially with all those spices i am a very big fan of spices specially arab indian and mediterranean spices.
@ganthonyvr I just wanted to mention that I'm greek and I haven't heard the world "greek hotdog sauce" before haha :P I've never run into a restaurant serving hot dog either :PP
I wouldn't be surprised if I read "greek souvlaki sauce" but hotdog? it's kinda funny :P
@elbereth129 yeah me to you know i publiced the same comment xaxxaax i have never heard about that !!!!! maybe if she put tzatziki inside the ot dog somethin could be done /......xd otherwize i am too greek especially from crete
The sauce doesent really reflect Greek cooking. Its simply a recipie that Greek immigrents came up with to sell in there resturants. Its also called Red Hots, Texas Hots, Coney Island Sauce, just to name a few. One family is named Pachakas, and another is Samudiaris, both from Greece, and make simaliar sauces for hot dogs and burgers. Any given lunch time its SRO to get a bag of hotdogs..LOL.. make up a batch and enjoy, my friends!!!!
Are you serious??? Authentic Greek sauce? Call it what you want lady - American, Chinese, or German, but Greek it ain't! Have you ever had Greek food?
I'm from Cincy & all the spices looked correct, but If you add the (Leanest you can get)ground beef to it, raw, & cook it either in a crock pot on high 4-5 hours or on the stove at very low heat all day, stirring a lot to break it apart, you'll have Cincy style chili without having to puree it & its tender as can be!!
Thanks for the video. I'm gonna try your spice recipie!
great sauce. Comes very close to texture and flavor of a favorite joint of mine, Zacks in Burlington, NC. I will work with it some since it's spices are powerful.
@milliethestungun Hi! Thanks for watching! I live near Cincy! :-) Oh yes, I've tried this as a 3-way over spaghetti and topped with shredded cheddar cheese... it's amazing. I think it beats Skyline and Goldstar. I hope you can try this recipe sometimes. Thanks again for stopping by. Have a beautiful day! Hugs...
@hilahcooking Hi! Thanks so much for writing in! I really appreciate it. Oh, I have to tell you, this has to be one of the best hot dog sauces I've ever tasted. Tony sent in a winner with this one. I hope you can try it sometime. Talk to you soon my dear friend. Hugs...
Why didn't you take a bite? It is good. I don't puree it though. After I drain off all the fat and let it cool, I use my fingers to break up the ground beef. I like the texture better. It's quite similar to a restaurant I used to go to. Good Golly-I miss that place:) Luv the bloopers at the end of the video:)
@LoquaciousByNature Hi my friend! Thank you so very much for watching and writing in! I truly appreciate it. Good golly, ha ha ha! That just kind of slipped out from no where, lol. I'm silly. Hope all is well your way. Thanks again for stopping by. Hugs to you and yours...
@571981 It's a sauce created by Greek immigrants, mostly found in the NY/NJ area. There are so many variations on this type of hotdog sauce and they not only vary by state but by regions within a state. For example, in the Mid-Hudson Valley of upstate NY there is a sauce known at "Texas Hot Wiener Sauce". Northern NJ has a "Texas Hot Wiener Sauce" but it is much different than the ones found in Kingston NY at "Dallas Hot Wieners".
@tdjtx thanks for the info. How do you know all these? You made me remember a few years old film "Sleepers", stars Brad Pitt and Robert De Niro, with plot in New York City in the mid-1960s' and few kids accidentally killed a hotdog street salesman, who was greek immigrants.
I love hotdogs and I always thought will be the best to try one in NYC.

Way too complex for bachelors like me -- but it looked good enough to make me hungry -- so I'm off to microwave a burrito.

@drewnetwork LOL... I love microwaved burritos... although I usually cook them too long and they turn out tough, ha ha! :-) Have you ever tried Wendy's Hot Chili sauce on one? Mmmm... so good! Thank you for watching and writing in. Have a great week ahead! Hugs...

This looks pretty good!... and as close as one can get to the authentic "hungarian" hot dog sauce made famous by Tony Packo's in Toledo, Ohio! !! :)
Thanks for posting and sharing!

@fugentagirl1 Hi Dear Lisa! How are you? I keep forgetting you are a Buckeye too! I'm near Cincy and you are up North at Toledo! :-) I bet Tony Packo's sauce is amazing! I sure hope you can give this recipe a try. It's my most favorite hot dog sauce now! I can't begin to tell you how many times I've made this since Tony sent it in. Talk to you soon Lisa. Big hugs to your family and especially Gavin!

Yikes they look good. Maybe a little to spicy for me but I will try.

@blinko656 Hi Mike and Patty! Hope you are doing great! Oh I hope you can give this a try. It is a bit on the spicy side though. I used to be a die-hard Skyline and Gold Star Chili fan, but after I made this sauce, I've switched. And you won't believe the aroma from this.... I would cook this just to be able to smell it, lol. It's amazing! Thank you so much for watching and writing in. Have a beautiful weekend! Hugs...

@usafireandrescue We might tone down the hot sauce, but we have made the strawberry and cream over and over and over. That is so good!

@blinko656 Oh yeah, the strawberry and cream is really yummy and addictive. We went through so many containers of strawberries (and cream cheese). :-)
