  • i love her holding back the laughter and trying to keep a straight face at 2:43

  • Jill was so twisted and evil but this very dark comedy is a classic.

I would watch it with a cushion in front of my face because of her shamelessness.

i loved it, all my freinds love it too.

the best line... pay up now it only gets nasty later.

  • she is stunning, cathy. she is GORGEOUS.

i love how she casually rubs it in <3

  • glen is great ,one line is ,your asking me to slay a man of the cloth ,great stuff ,human remains is great also

  • julia davis needs to be on tv more-not only is she a brilliant comedienne and makes excellent programmes, she's also incredibly fit :)

  • TAROT NEEDS MOAR GAEM!!!

  • Dark UK sketch comedy with a hint of mint. This is our first video and we'd love to know what you think. If you like it please rate, comment, subscribe!

  • Some of this was taken from a character from Human Remains. It can be seen in the outtakes.

  • @PhilipPorter Have you got a link to this? I'd love to see it.

  • @crazydaniel71 Sorry, I don`t think you`ll find it on YouTube. There are some Outtakes to be found but on reflection I may have confused the Outtakes with the Deleted Scenes on the DVD.

  • This was bloody amusing! “… please would you avoid woody, or anything too woody” “Did you hear that?” “The banging? No, I didn’t hear that”. Ahaha!!! I laughed so hard when she flipped the last card and it was a picture of Sandra LOL!

  • 'Cathy I can't pretend that is a good card, but it doesn't mean death.

    Where as that does'

This is one of, if not, my favourite line in the whole series. ****ing hilarious!

  • @everybodyreach agreed.

  • Bloody hilarious!

  • "What I would say Kath, about the nine o'batons........."

  • Steve Coogan is a fricken genius. Alan Partridge was one of the great post modern tragic-comic figures. Its awesome to see him doing more brit sitcoms rather than more terrible american movies.

  • Tarot was made for card games, not for divination! XD

  • This was such a brilliant series. I've only just found this after seeing Julia in an episode of People Like Us. Very talented lady and attractive with it.

  • Jill is such a fantastic character - well done Julia Davis, and BBC give her more commissions please!!!!

  • This series is just utterly brilliant. Jill is without a doubt one of the most perverse and fascinating comedy creations ever. At times she is incredibly sexy too. I wish I could thank Julia Davis personally for creating such a twisted character. I just love to watch her in this role. And that voice is just so endearing.

    10 out of 10!

  • Jill is such an evil bitch, I love it!

  • Wow, two of my favourite comedy actresses in the same place at once! How the hell did I miss this?

  • does anyone know the film where this actress Julia Davis puts on a diaper/nappy on a guy??? please help much apreciated ;);)

  • Pretty sure it's the first series of this. Nighty Night.

  • @ScratchyGreyPlastic ive tried to look for it but i cant find it... can you try to find it for me please ;)

  • BRING NIGHTY NIGHT BACK!!!!!

  • I know I loved it....especially how she talks.

  • I think you'll find it me cath

  • goddamn ads

  • oh cathy love when she says cathy nighty night is the best xoxo

  • i know im not watching tv but doesn't the BBC get funded by TV licencing...not adverts??

  • i can only wish i had such a devious mind.

  • She's sadistic!

"Please will you avoid being around wood, okay, or anything too woody" lol

  • I love Julia Davis! She wrote this! Christ, how dark is she? LOLLLLL!

  • I dont know how to word Jills personality! LOL

  • This episode is so scary!

  • THAT ISS LOVELY

  • "just look at him, quite angry in his little boots isn't he?"

    so well done

  • XD i love the elaborate ways she puts Cathy down. omg! i read there'll be an american version O_O i was shocked... i didn't think they'd "get it"

  • God, I hope not. I'm American, but I absolutely hate it when British shows are remade "American style". I wish they would just put the original British shows on American tv instead of trying to do a crap remake. It almost always fails miserably.

  • yeah, i imagine they'd tone it down... a LOT really but i am actually hopeful XD

  • Yanks are fools.they think they've made their English "perfect"!!!

  • @elpajaronegro

Moreover, it,s not like there was a language barrier, so no use for a remake. They must think Americans are too dumb to understand a foreign accent. Sad.

  • I love this programme!

  • did u hear that

that bangin i did not lol

    julia davis is amazing

  • I want another series....:) julia roxx!

  • OH GOD! It's Sandra! LOL!

  • Loved the first series, only liked the second.

  • One of the funniest programmes I have ever seen. The darker the better!

  • please could you avoid being around wood, or anything to woody..

    haha, i love her.

  • Julia Davis is the best !

    I LOVE HER

  • best show ever

  • Julia Davis is an extraordinarily talented comedian...good female comics are such a rarity - which is a real shame - but Julia is right on the cutting edge with her material. She's not just "good for a woman"...she's good, period.

  • U WIN E

  • I never really got to see nighty night properly which is a real shame coz its got such a great cast and i hear its pretty dark. cant be as dark as chris morris' JAM but who knows

  • Ah JAM is amazing :D

The first episode had me hooked straight away!

  • "Ooooh, that is lovely!! oooh, that is it nice!! That's nice!! Oooh!!"

    LMFAO!!

  • It doesn't mean death.........whereas that does. LMAO.

  • I love Nighty Night...Julia Davis is my comedy hero!

  • lol

i love it! american tv needs more of this

  • watch the "video response" posted by xdarrenxx, its one of the most hilareous clips from nighty night series one... its the bit where jill basicly tells terry that shes made his funeral arrangements so he can not muck her about with things like not dien! *so rude*

  • best show ever..

me and my sister watched this when it first came out on bbc3.. completley hilareous

    "hiya kath!!" got us hooked

  • NIGHTY NIGHT IS AMAZING!

  • HaHa

-"Cathy,I Cant Prentend Thats a Good card, But it Dosent mean Death,... Whereas That Does"

Get the boxset of theese series their so funny try the deleted scenes ;)

  • This is absolutely fantastic..stunning!

    Julia Davis is a legend

    "Did you hear it"

    "That banging? I didn't"

  • The Funniest show I've ever seen!

Julia Davis is a total and utter genius

  • i love this prog!!!

  • is she married 2 julian barratt? howard moon from the mighty boosh?

  • they are not married but are together and have kids

  • Wrong! tigr, you're quoting dated history. Tarot's mystery has been solved now, we know when where it came from and why it was created, Italy, 15 century for playing a card game and not fortune telling.

  • tigr7170 is posting rubbish!

  • Yes tugr7170, it's great to see "reproduceable, unarguable fact & truth" in such a funny video. Was it only in the late 16th Century that SANDRA, aka 10 of FAGS, first appeared in the Tarrot pack?! But then she was stunning weren't she. Think she went out with that "Big Ben" from Dundee for a while - they did some spectacular ROTATIONS!!

  • I am siting a physically reproduceable phenomena of which is documented in "The Secret In The Bible" by Tony Bushby, and also further in "The History and Practice of Magic" by Paul Christian.

  • mmmm just the sort of info we "Nighty Night" fans were gagging for

    maybe you should try citing

but don't forget - BEWARE THE NINE OF BATTONS..... maybe his headscarf's a bit too tight for him...?

  • Love you, Julia!

  • Nighty NIght is one of the best british comedies ever written. It's a show that can make you crease with laughter at things we're not supposed to laugh about. It's all very tongue in cheek and Julia Davis is amazing as Jill . No female lead in a comedy series has ever been so selfish and calculating but so fucking hilarious.

  • " From the The Penguin Encyclopedia of Card Games, by David Parlett, "People are often suprised to learn that Tarot cards were originally invented for playing games, that such games are still widespread and popular in continental Europe, and that the employment of tarots for divination and fortune-telling is a relatively recent perversion of their proper use, dating only from the eighteenth century." "

  • The folowing people:

    Duckhugger

    tarot4games

    zzytrewq

They feel the need to troll all over the internet posting anti-tarot comments.

    Disregard what they say.

Type their names in Google for proof.

  • Duckhugger, Tarot4Games, and myself should not be considered "anti-tarot" Tarot is really a card game. Tarot started as a card game and it is still recognized as a card game in such places as France. It is time for the English speaking public to realize this fact. We are very pro Tarot! We play card games with Tarot decks! How can we be "anti-Tarot" when we use the deck for its intended purpose?

  • IAMASCREENNAME does not get it.IAMASCREENNAME is misinformed. S/he thinks that tarot cards are only used for divination. Nobody is really anti-tarot! People opposed to divination with tarot cards are really opposed to divination regardless of whether tarot cards are involved.

  • the other day i was playing poker with tarot

    cards.

i got a full house and 4 people died

  • Tarot was made first for card games! "A History of Games Played With the Tarot Pack" I do recommend it. People should be aware that fortune telling is not the intended purpose for tarot cards. Tarot is for card games people!

  • Julia Davies' Jill was made first for comedy! "Nighty Night" I do recommend it. Heople should be aware that promoting tarot is not really the intended purpose of BBC black comedy. BBC black comedy is for cynical people with a sense of humour!!

  • My reply was directed at the Steven Wright quote above. I like the American comedian Steven Wright, but his quote on playing poker with tarot cards does not ring true with those who do play card games with tarot.

  • Speaking of Tarot cards; Ever heard of playing games with Tarot cards? "A History of Games Played With the Tarot Pack" by Michael Dummett and John McLeod is essential reading on the subject. You can get vol.1 at thepiratebay dot org "/tor/3913821". Or just go to thepiratebay dot org and search for it under Ebooks. Of course, you should also track down and buy the book if you can, or get your local library to order a copy. It's rare stuff!

  • Speaking of crafty free adverts disguised as YouTube comments.... that sounds great, especially as it's "rare stuff"! But, does it really have Sandra in it!!!???

  • Not really advertising when I'm just trying to pass on free information. Might not have Sandra in it, but it's relevant on the basis that this clip has the characters using Tarot cards. The book which I'm encouraging you download for free has historical information that might make you all better informed about the history of tarot cards and their uses. It's unfortunate that so many people automatically think "fortune telling" when presented with tarot!

  • It would be nice if sometime a television drama would present tarot cards being used as game playing cards (as they were originally invented for).

Trust me, I'm not "selling" anything here. I'm just a college student who took some of his own time to scan this book and share it. I want to spread around things of educational value... y'know. Tarot is definitely a subject upon which most people need some re-education.

  • Thanks for the info.

If I ever see Cathy (or Sandra) I'll tell her, but not sure I'd want to try and disabuse Jill.

  • anonrt6 is not making any money off this. Many people need to get better educated about tarot cards. It's not just fortune telling. People today in continental Europe are still playing it.

  • gosh, money, that's the last thing anyone wants, isn't it.

fine, good luck to those better educated Euros! but are they really as funny as Jill?

must be only us in off-shore Europe who still burn witches for entertainment then

  • "Cathy I cannot pretend that's a good card... but it doesn't mean death... where as that one does!" ha ha ha!!! I cannot understand why some people don't find this funny but that just proves how different we are to each other.

  • Each to their own. I personally found Nighty Night very funny. This clip is pregnant with humour, you're just not seeing it.

  • Have seen little on TV in the past five years that was funnier than this dark series. I believe that Davis is a comedy genius. Painfully cringeworthy at times. No canned laughter. No easy jokes. Just brilliant observation.

  • iain is blatantly an american who doesn't get the british sense of humour!

  • lol so funny, great show, her interpretations of the tarot so wrong hehehe

  • It's what you see in the cards that counts. She is either so good she hardly needs them at all, or doesn't know where to begin. But having read them before I got into government (private party trick), it is nice to see a renaissance in tarot references in popular culture, e.g. Sea of Souls earlier this year as well. - MH

  • hmm, am not sure this is really the renaissance you were looking for mavis, but let's all hope Gordon avoids... "wood, or anything too woody".

Am sure this was Jill's own very private party trick, but then she probably totally believes in the tarot. But hang on, how did Sandra get in there.....oooh, spooky!!

  • Loved this show, shame the second series was so bad.

  • dreadful acting. brits are usually so good too. How disappointing.

  • The "quality" of their acting is intentional...to add to the satire, which is what a lot of the humour in these episodes is based on...

  • oh dear... there are plenty of real brits who act (and sound) just like these two. Now that's really funny isn't it. Whereas most brit tv comedies are so lighr-hearted (and almost funny)...

totally cringeworthy, totally funny (for us dreadful brits anyway...)

  • I think their actings fine you little priss lol

  • Nighty Night is honestly the best fucking comedy program I have ever seen. Julia Davis is superb.

  • This'll sound odd, but the accents are fantastic.

  • The best show ever!

  • die

  • slowly

  • This is thu shizo it bloddy brilliant

  • I loved this show, Britain needs more such TV brilliance, badly!!! Bring back Julia Davis, she is genius!

  • "Oooh that is nice....oooh that's nice", hahahahahaha!

  • LMAO

  • it has only 6 days and 20 commnts as well

  • This is one of the funniest shows i have ever seen julia davis is brilliant!!

  • haha

  • No such thing as prof. tarot card reader, prof. bull shitter, yes!

  • Haha, wow I loved this xD

  • This is hysterical. I'm a professional Tarot card reader and I got a big kick out of this one.

  • lolololololololololololol "i cant pretend the devil is a good card... but it doesnt mean death." *sigh of relief* then she pulls the death card. that was hilarious!!!!

  • if a woman's not good in bed a man gotta do what a mans gotta do ... tarot or not ...

  • lmao

  • I'm a pro tarot card reader and this is a hilarious parody!

  • she is nice.. check her out in her heels and running gear.. needles to say

  • Yes i agree, series one waz so perfectly funny. I loved the dry abstract wit. Unfortunately they couldn't keep that momentum going for the second series. She is sooo sexy to!

  • where is the rest of it?

  • tarot card readers are so full of shyte and shouldn't play with the vunerable

  • series one was perfect.. series two.. err sucked.. big shame

  • i love it
