Worked out for Nike and I'd say it waorked out well for Adidas too. Soccer, the Beastie Boys, and skateboarders helped make Adidas popular in the states in the 90's and that nitch may not have happened if they had become a mainstream basketball shoe the way Nike did. Nike is still trying to open up those markets but still the king of basketball shoes; it all works out.
