1.31.....Turners Arms ( Green Bricks ) and above that the Railway Tavern on Psalters Lane, Holmes, my parents had the Holmes Cafe opposite the Tavern...Happy days!
WOW a real blast from the past........ one frame I would really love is the “Howard Hotel” 3min 38sec. I was born just around the corner from the Howard on Kenneth Street and I have many childhood memories of this pub. Our yard backed onto the urinal and it was a game to climb the wall and drop small pebbles hoping to hit a target. If you got a shout of words you didn’t understand you knew you’d scored a direct hit. I do remembe many of he other pubs I used as I got older... thank you
@306bad Yes, hope the traditional boozer doesn't go. But you forgot to mention the price of a pint, it's the greedy governments, greedy brewerys, and greedy landlords who are killing the pub trade, not the cig ban etc, put the price of beer down, then you have full pubs again ....simple.
please someone tell me the name of the pub at 4.51 .. its driving me nutz !..I used to live just over the hill at Blackburn ... great vid thanx for posting ...lyndloo..

Thanks for that - did not recognise many of the pubs, but still have fond memories of those I do!

This is a fantastic piece of history.
Thnkyou for posting it.
In the last few years even more watering holes have dried up due to smoking legislation and the present economic climate.
I hope some Pubs survive and we can keep a british tradition going.
Huge fan of Judith Durham I like the the English Ale track, very folky, anyone want to tell who it is by?
Thanks again for a great work of history, brilliant, I have only been here ten years, still finding my way around,

Hi 306bad
The first track is Mary Hopkin's 'Those Were The Days' (it's not Judith Durham).
The second track is 'English Ale' by Harvey Andrews.
Thanks for the comment on my vid.

Of course its Mary Hopkin, I must have been enjoying the English Ale called "pickled ale", not mentioned by Harvey Andrews.
Judith Durham would be more at home with a Barby Ale,
I am still a huge fan, sure she would enjoy a pint of Land Lord if she ever comes back to England
