bold statement. how would you explain in the fact that the content of the black hole defines time and spase as we know it? or the oregin of the big bang? science is a tool to understand our enviornment, yet there are some thigs that are beyond it's grasp and thats where religeon and philosophy come to play.
The mechanics of the black hole are what we are studying to help us define a set of physical laws in order to understanding the big bang. When peering into human nature, philosophy is a flexible psychological tool used to discuss ethics whereas religion is used as a rigid system to control the behavior of the masses. Either I suffocate in limits or expand with knowledge
Poor definition of both philosophy and religon. Philosophy goes from ethics to reality to just about anything in terms of categorising and questioning how objective we can be. But Religon - i'm an athiest but - is a personal belief or faith in higher powers. To say it is a system to control the masses is small minded. Don't confuse how its been used with what it actually is. I agree with your message but i don't like it when other athiests immediatly look down on religon.
History. Study history. Religion is used to control the masses or create law for Church and State. Look at our modern day Pope and their order. Look how it has controlled the masses, politically.
Philosophy can be used to debate the mind, perspectives, but not necessarily objective thought. Because, you can use terminology that people can use for pseudo science, like Deepok Chopra stating "Quantum Thinking."
Look, I'm not bashing religion. I believe there is room for every belief.
@stevenpicado YOU ARE THE MOST CORRECT ON THAT BUT SCIENCE IS THE SAME AS RELIGION BIG BANG THEORY ORGANIC SOUP AN OTHER THEORY. AND JUST LIKE YOU SAID THAT ONE DAY FOR GOD RANGES FROM 1000 TO 1 MILLION IS THE SAME SHIT AS DARK MATTER DARK ENERGY .....LOOK IN TO Rhawn Joseph, Ph.D... THERES COUPLE VIDEOS OF HIS WORK ON YOUTUBE
@stevenpicado you sound like an asshole. i'm not religious or anti-intellectual by any means by jesus christ how do you get along with people with a head as big as yours? fuckin youtube comments man
Actually the bible clearly states that God made the earth in 4 days I think it was, but we know it took so many years , compare the two and you will understand how much slower God's time is; Also in the Revelations- hebrew text best translates; "There are 7 kingdoms, 5 have fallen, 1 is , and 1 is yet to come". The kingdoms are densities of space which vary dependant upon your vicinity to a black hole. God exist in yet and 8th kingdom. He is made of particles larger and slower.
@stevenpicado I did not discover this by reading the bible. My work in physics brought me to understand that the Bible makes sense as if it were based on my theory.
Your statement is based on fear alone, not mine, you have proven this. If you were half a scientist, you would try to understand why I made such a statement. My videos have the answer.
At the time that the Bible was written, Gods days where widely excepted by most Polytheist religions as being 1000 human days, this widely excepted understanding of Gods days is no longer perceived as most other religions do not exist any more, The Bible is openly metaphorical and consistently uses analogies to explain very complex events.
A day for God is like a million years. So God made Earth and it's inhabitants in 6 million years or so. (When I mean inhabitants I mean the first organisms like bacteria, not people)
1)what religion are you talking about?2)Why does god only show it self when people are ignorant of their surroundings?3) How many talking bushes have you heard of latley?
1) I don't know what you mean? 2) There's a space after the parenthesis and two spaces before the next number. 3) Since when do religious people believe in talking bushes?
The reason religion and astronomy are constantly uttered in the same breath is because astronomy is proving more and more that the universe is nothing like what is described in religious teachings. The people who follow these religions can no longer explain something like origins without sounding rediculous. Then arguments ensue between those who know about the world and those who've read about the world in a holy book. If you're religious don't interfere with anything non-religious.
It seems obvious to all now that the galaxy comet has been discovered. God rides this comet through the universe and spreads the seeds of life to all the stars that can sustain it. He then has a son, the son saves the people from everlasting death. However, the societies usually don't like the idea and have to lock up or crucify him. It's a great story about good and evil.
yh you make a good point i just hope if they crucify him they do it in a funny way like jesus, i mean he was a carepenter so they nailed him to a piece of wood =p

btw we will be able to see mars with the naked eye this year! it only happens every 60,000 yrs! will b a true once in a life time sight plase spread the word!
To all the people who say that astronomy is useless and too expensive, I remind that the first scientist in history was a great astronomer. His name was Galileo Galilei...
Without the research of the unknown we would not be where we are now...
@popezmark I think you've gone a bit short... you need to look at ancient history to see the first scientists - these were the ones creating math and ways of irrigating crops to better serve their tribes :)
@DTraneNC you wanna know what letters are in YOUR name and what they spell, fag bitch? try "TARD", "NERD" and "ANT". i'm fucking real good with anacronyms, fuckface. lmao!
how can they be sure that its not some weird gravitational coordination that rips the stars off while the galaxy flies though the cluster? or, by using the word plasma, is he suggesting that there is another type of interaction between these galaxies? an electro-magentic one perhaps? or a combination of gravity and E-M? still would like to know where the plasma came from...
DocJ on 2:20 says this galaxy's stars are stripped by hot plasma? and that its temp is 10-100 mil degrees?
im no scientist but...I thought that galaxy clusters are galaxies swirling around in groups, due to the gravitational pull on each other, and that whats between them is...void. Cold, Empty...void.
So...what he's basically saying is that there's million degrees hot plasma in the void? whats generating the plasma?
Well he said that the EM field was generated by the high concentration of dark matter and Plasma. The way its said you would think that the E-M a by-product of the plasma and not the other way around. As for where/how the super heated plasma comes to be such a high concentration...magic!? @.@ Dr. J may have a Ph.D in astronomy but I tend to be a little cautious of his wording since his native tongue is German. But with all of those new blue stars forming remnant nursery gases maybe the source.

If they can create such technology which is able to see over 3.2 billion light years away. Why the fuck dont they create something that is able to see something that is say, 238,855 miles away. Like the moons surface? That way we'd be able to see just whats really left up there from the "visits" to the moon. If there's anything at all, and bassed an the fact, they still havent created a telescope powerfull enough to see the moons surface clear enough, I myself, highly doubt anyone has ever been.
A lot of things have come to us from space technology. Some medical research can only be done for some forms of cancers in zero gravity as well. Which we do not have zero gravity generators currently on earth so we need the natural environment of zero gravity in space to conduct research in.
If you were given one billion dollars to either fund a space progam to fly back to the moon or donate to cancer charities, which would you pick and why?
space program because it could find cures for things here on earth. Or bring the world together in some ways like new life. A lot of people's views would change if we did meet aliens just saying. All that space and we are the only life seems unlikely. Be it Bacteria,Vegetation, and or Humanoid
if it were an interstellar space program, the sort of research into aging and molecular biology and disease treatment to guarantee a successful mission probably would cure cancer in the process.
Saying that, if its just to mars, give it to cancer research.
What is cancer charity actually? I've always been wondering. If you get cancer, you are going to die, end of story, what's with charity?
Now, there is scientific research on cancer, just like there is scientific research on space. Many great discoveries made in physics were later used in medicine. There is no science that's less worth than the other, so, I say I'd fund both.
I never said anything about charity. I'm not talking about "make a wish foundation" type of funding. I am talking about looking for direct cures for cancer. Funding the research to find new ways of fighting it. I am actually happy O'Bomma is president now. He's going to lift the restrictions on stem cell research and then we will find these cures, or at least find a beter way to treat them. God bless the science!
Anyway, if you had to fund ONE of them, which would you fund?
Your question is rather pointless, and I really can't understand why you came here to watch astronomy video and criticize people for their discovery.
Both types of research are incredibly important for humanity, and that's why both find their place in the budget of USA or any other country. There are 1000 other things I'd cut down in that very same budget, but scientific research in ANY field isn't one of them.
Plus, astronomy research has its practical, security side.
Early discovery of an asteroid can prevent our whole civilization's extinction. Sounds like Armageddon, but it's much more real.
Our planet is full of proofs what kind of danger asteroids are. Have you ever heard of Tunguska? Great example to show you how lucky citizens of Moscow were, and how we should always look to the sky with one eye.
You didn't read what I wrote before. I enjoy astronomy, but I was arguing with someone else about spending money on these things when we as a society aren't at that page in life yet. We have bigger issues to understand and to interpret - disease, war, social and political corruption,....etc. Classic example is NASA wanting to go back to the moon. With the U.S. in a recession, how would going to the moon help anything? If we are to spend funding, we need to put it where it counts
If we don't research it now, when will we? You can't go and stop scientific research.
Don't go looking for war, then you won't have to fund any war.
As for social and political corruption - well it already sucks in enough money, how do you possibly mean to spend more money on it? It's a question of ethics, not funding.
As for recession, I am sure Mr Obama and his team know better where to put which amount of money, at least better than the previous government.
I understand your point about "world leaders" as the "trouble makers" and not being able to govern or utilize their power for needs of everyone. Don't use them as a scapegoat and say "it's too difficult" to help people in need. Mother t also said, "God doesn't require us to succeed; he only requires that you try." Giving up so easy on people? I never thought that an astronomer would have the pessimistic attitude towards people. Let me ask you one question:
These posts show the large percentage of ignorrance in the world. Why do you guys post with rediculously childish comments on meaningless chatter. Grow up. You hold back the future of mankind, spreading your ignorrance to your kids and people less intellectual than yourselfs. Try and think about the effect you have on the world in your short time here. Your children inherit this world.

Some one has never been laid. Look - you don't need to know this. We have BIGGER issues and BIGGER problems than figuring these things out. Take a look into your community and country and tell me there aren't probelms to solve. Don't worry, we will eventually get to answering these questions. Right now though, we need to focus on our planet - not anything outside it.
Please, get rid of the you're wrong I'm right attitude. A lot of people care about space, and want to learn more about how it was formed. Some people don't. Deal with it. The whole world isn't going to agree with you, because you think your way is right. >_>
All I am trying to say is right now, we need to focus on issues we have here on our planet. Sorry for being a little hostile, but we want to go back to the moon and send robots to distant worlds to better understand our universe. With where the human race is now, do you think we should be worrying about this?I'm saying we shouldn't - we haven't hit that point of evolution. Sure, we have inovation and you can play music from a device as small as a penny, but people are still the same...
I am too sorry to have to point out your ignorance but I am trying to enlighten:
Have you considered the possibility that space faring which begins with sending robots into space might become one day very important when we manage to create problems here that we cannot solve any longer?
watch?v=p86BPM1GV8M Dr Sagan knew that we take our stand here on earth but was a big supporter of the space program nevertheless or maybe because of it. The sooner we begin exploring the better.
You sir ignore the fact that models and insights in astronomy can and do lead to models and applications that influence other fields of science which deal with the problems which you consider as more urgent.
Moreover science in itself is a value-free undertaking. It is interested in describing how things are because this is beautiful. It is useful as well of course but not as a primary focus. Astronomy may not be involved in solving urgent major practical issues but does not create them either.
True - Astronomy doesn't cause nor solve urgent problems. That's my point - it doesn't do anything that can move mankind right now. You're not understanding my point. Let me try to give you a hypothetical "what if." If some where like, I don't know, Dafur was given money by the UN to establish a space exploration program, you think they would utilize the money to fund it?
Do you see what I am trying to tell you? We need to solve problems we have now before we create new ones...
2 these guys and gals produce problems that require ,if we want to reverse them, much more effort from everyone of us since we are not given (and in many cases are humble enough not wanting) so much power. Let's say for every hour Bush spends in the office it takes me 20 years to take as much influence he has within an hour. (the number is relatively arbitrary but the scale is correct)
Now I am not saying that it is difficult is reason to give up. I am with Mother Teresa on this who said:
"What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight. Build anyway."
What I am saying is that with less power comes less responsibility and I feel not inclined to make the genocide in Sudan my number one priority in life. If you do: Great! There have always been a small minority of people helping out with the least fortunate and dedicated their lives to the task (if Mother Teresa was one of them is in light of Hitchen's critique doubtful).
I am not putting stones in your way to help and keep you from fulfilling your mission. I am merely spending the night out and thinking about the improbability of life and helping your mission with small grands that I can afford.
So I really decline your responsibility for every one, but a more adapted responsibility corresponding to what power you have. World leaders not only do not lack the responsibility they are given but even create new problems for us to solve which is a scandal.
We astronomers are not the problem. We may not be the most altruistic people but if one day intellectuals were pressured and paid by politicians and economic leaders to use our intelligence not to make money but to help solve global problems I am fairly sure very few would decline the opportunity to work on that.
You need to distinguish between trouble-makers and bystanders which can only help to a certain extent.
hahahaha someone has posted..."allah has AIDS" ahahahaha hilarious ....well said.....i hope the world ends rather than see the world get converted to islam......
i have an idea! when you see a galaxy throw your camera into it and like ahve a screen inthe spaceship recording the whole thing that would be awesome!!
it'll take at least 4.5 light years to reach the nearest solar system in our galexy...what makes you think we can put a camera in another galaxy hannamontana?
Interactions of galaxies with the galaxy cluster environment have been known for many decades.
The Perseus galaxy cluster, for example, has tadpole radio and X-ray trails to galaxies.
I find it disturbing that old observations and knowledge therefrom are being accredited to Hubble...when this information is relatively ancient..NGC1275 (Perseus A) is such an obvious example.
The media hype is not good overall for Hubble and next generation telescopes.

The mechanics of the black hole are what we are studying to help us define a set of physical laws in order to understanding the big bang. When peering into human nature, philosophy is a flexible psychological tool used to discuss ethics whereas religion is used as a rigid system to control the behavior of the masses. Either I suffocate in limits or expand with knowledge
truvelocity 2 years ago 2
Poor definition of both philosophy and religon. Philosophy goes from ethics to reality to just about anything in terms of categorising and questioning how objective we can be. But Religon - i'm an athiest but - is a personal belief or faith in higher powers. To say it is a system to control the masses is small minded. Don't confuse how its been used with what it actually is. I agree with your message but i don't like it when other athiests immediatly look down on religon.
0606000m 1 year ago

So science has proven "the big bang theory"? Don't throw out any theories either because that is NOT science that is speculation.

If you're religious don't interfere with anything non-religious.
kurumako 2 years ago 4

It seems obvious to all now that the galaxy comet has been discovered. God rides this comet through the universe and spreads the seeds of life to all the stars that can sustain it. He then has a son, the son saves the people from everlasting death. However, the societies usually don't like the idea and have to lock up or crucify him. It's a great story about good and evil.

how can they be sure that its not some weird gravitational coordination that rips the stars off while the galaxy flies though the cluster? or, by using the word plasma, is he suggesting that there is another type of interaction between these galaxies? an electro-magentic one perhaps? or a combination of gravity and E-M? still would like to know where the plasma came from...
katsapliador 3 years ago
DocJ on 2:20 says this galaxy's stars are stripped by hot plasma? and that its temp is 10-100 mil degrees?
im no scientist but...I thought that galaxy clusters are galaxies swirling around in groups, due to the gravitational pull on each other, and that whats between them is...void. Cold, Empty...void.
So...what he's basically saying is that there's million degrees hot plasma in the void? whats generating the plasma?
katsapliador 3 years ago

If you were given one billion dollars to either fund a space progam to fly back to the moon or donate to cancer charities, which would you pick and why?
zionofwestern 3 years ago
space program because it could find cures for things here on earth. Or bring the world together in some ways like new life. A lot of people's views would change if we did meet aliens just saying. All that space and we are the only life seems unlikely. Be it Bacteria,Vegetation, and or Humanoid
PheonixMasters 3 years ago 3
if it were an interstellar space program, the sort of research into aging and molecular biology and disease treatment to guarantee a successful mission probably would cure cancer in the process.
Saying that, if its just to mars, give it to cancer research.
LeftReader 3 years ago
What is cancer charity actually? I've always been wondering. If you get cancer, you are going to die, end of story, what's with charity?
Now, there is scientific research on cancer, just like there is scientific research on space. Many great discoveries made in physics were later used in medicine. There is no science that's less worth than the other, so, I say I'd fund both.
LittleDutchess 3 years ago
I never said anything about charity. I'm not talking about "make a wish foundation" type of funding. I am talking about looking for direct cures for cancer. Funding the research to find new ways of fighting it. I am actually happy O'Bomma is president now. He's going to lift the restrictions on stem cell research and then we will find these cures, or at least find a beter way to treat them. God bless the science!
Anyway, if you had to fund ONE of them, which would you fund?
zionofwestern 3 years ago
Your question is rather pointless, and I really can't understand why you came here to watch astronomy video and criticize people for their discovery.
Both types of research are incredibly important for humanity, and that's why both find their place in the budget of USA or any other country. There are 1000 other things I'd cut down in that very same budget, but scientific research in ANY field isn't one of them.
So my answer again is - both.
LittleDutchess 3 years ago
Plus, astronomy research has its practical, security side.
Early discovery of an asteroid can prevent our whole civilization's extinction. Sounds like Armageddon, but it's much more real.
Our planet is full of proofs what kind of danger asteroids are. Have you ever heard of Tunguska? Great example to show you how lucky citizens of Moscow were, and how we should always look to the sky with one eye.
LittleDutchess 3 years ago 2
You didn't read what I wrote before. I enjoy astronomy, but I was arguing with someone else about spending money on these things when we as a society aren't at that page in life yet. We have bigger issues to understand and to interpret - disease, war, social and political corruption,....etc. Classic example is NASA wanting to go back to the moon. With the U.S. in a recession, how would going to the moon help anything? If we are to spend funding, we need to put it where it counts
zionofwestern 3 years ago
If we don't research it now, when will we? You can't go and stop scientific research.
Don't go looking for war, then you won't have to fund any war.
As for social and political corruption - well it already sucks in enough money, how do you possibly mean to spend more money on it? It's a question of ethics, not funding.
As for recession, I am sure Mr Obama and his team know better where to put which amount of money, at least better than the previous government.
LittleDutchess 3 years ago
@ RationalEmotive
I understand your point about "world leaders" as the "trouble makers" and not being able to govern or utilize their power for needs of everyone. Don't use them as a scapegoat and say "it's too difficult" to help people in need. Mother t also said, "God doesn't require us to succeed; he only requires that you try." Giving up so easy on people? I never thought that an astronomer would have the pessimistic attitude towards people. Let me ask you one question:

Some one has never been laid. Look - you don't need to know this. We have BIGGER issues and BIGGER problems than figuring these things out. Take a look into your community and country and tell me there aren't probelms to solve. Don't worry, we will eventually get to answering these questions. Right now though, we need to focus on our planet - not anything outside it.
zionofwestern 3 years ago
Please, get rid of the you're wrong I'm right attitude. A lot of people care about space, and want to learn more about how it was formed. Some people don't. Deal with it. The whole world isn't going to agree with you, because you think your way is right. >_>
gaialetters 3 years ago
All I am trying to say is right now, we need to focus on issues we have here on our planet. Sorry for being a little hostile, but we want to go back to the moon and send robots to distant worlds to better understand our universe. With where the human race is now, do you think we should be worrying about this?I'm saying we shouldn't - we haven't hit that point of evolution. Sure, we have inovation and you can play music from a device as small as a penny, but people are still the same...
zionofwestern 3 years ago
I am too sorry to have to point out your ignorance but I am trying to enlighten:
Have you considered the possibility that space faring which begins with sending robots into space might become one day very important when we manage to create problems here that we cannot solve any longer?
watch?v=p86BPM1GV8M Dr Sagan knew that we take our stand here on earth but was a big supporter of the space program nevertheless or maybe because of it. The sooner we begin exploring the better.
RationalEmotive 3 years ago
You sir ignore the fact that models and insights in astronomy can and do lead to models and applications that influence other fields of science which deal with the problems which you consider as more urgent.
Moreover science in itself is a value-free undertaking. It is interested in describing how things are because this is beautiful. It is useful as well of course but not as a primary focus. Astronomy may not be involved in solving urgent major practical issues but does not create them either.
RationalEmotive 3 years ago
True - Astronomy doesn't cause nor solve urgent problems. That's my point - it doesn't do anything that can move mankind right now. You're not understanding my point. Let me try to give you a hypothetical "what if." If some where like, I don't know, Dafur was given money by the UN to establish a space exploration program, you think they would utilize the money to fund it?
Do you see what I am trying to tell you? We need to solve problems we have now before we create new ones...
zionofwestern 3 years ago
2 these guys and gals produce problems that require ,if we want to reverse them, much more effort from everyone of us since we are not given (and in many cases are humble enough not wanting) so much power. Let's say for every hour Bush spends in the office it takes me 20 years to take as much influence he has within an hour. (the number is relatively arbitrary but the scale is correct)
Now I am not saying that it is difficult is reason to give up. I am with Mother Teresa on this who said:
RationalEmotive 3 years ago
"What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight. Build anyway."
What I am saying is that with less power comes less responsibility and I feel not inclined to make the genocide in Sudan my number one priority in life. If you do: Great! There have always been a small minority of people helping out with the least fortunate and dedicated their lives to the task (if Mother Teresa was one of them is in light of Hitchen's critique doubtful).
Now, as I am not explicitly helping out
RationalEmotive 3 years ago
I am not putting stones in your way to help and keep you from fulfilling your mission. I am merely spending the night out and thinking about the improbability of life and helping your mission with small grands that I can afford.
So I really decline your responsibility for every one, but a more adapted responsibility corresponding to what power you have. World leaders not only do not lack the responsibility they are given but even create new problems for us to solve which is a scandal.
RationalEmotive 3 years ago
We astronomers are not the problem. We may not be the most altruistic people but if one day intellectuals were pressured and paid by politicians and economic leaders to use our intelligence not to make money but to help solve global problems I am fairly sure very few would decline the opportunity to work on that.
You need to distinguish between trouble-makers and bystanders which can only help to a certain extent.
