For people wondering what boards to get...well im 5'11 weigh about 145ish and I have the vanguard flex 4. Everything about it...is spot on with what I want; speed...control...and ability to carve the hell out of shit. It seems when I go over speeds excess of 20mph I get some pretty intense speed wobble. Also my wheels have broken in so well that this board slides all over the place depending on foot placement....

@burbidgestephen Flexdex. they are pretty awesome, they are like black carbon fiber, and they flex really well, you can run over them on a car and they just bend to the ground, then bounce back up retaining its shape. some one correctthis if they know what Flexdex are made of.

i must say that my vanguard is the best longboard i ever treid in my life! that was my first board and i have a dervish, i like it too, its god at doing slides and stuff like that. but when you cruise whith the vanguard its like heaven :D buy the vanguard if you like driving hills and transports.

@Cowenleetin i think its pretty hard, because it has a very small nose. i think you can do shovits and stuffs whith it if you have a very good tecnique. but if you want to do for example all loaded challench series tricks, then buy a dervish :) if you like pumping and cruising buy a vanguard whith a soft flex. if you buy a vanguard whith flex one you whill be disepointed :p

Yeh it's pretty cool, when I bought it it was just the Vanny replica, he does a Derv replica too which I wish I got but it wasn't on sale at that time. It's pretty good, the wheels you get are huge, the trucks are great, they're exactly like the Paris 180's, flex is good for me and the graphic looks sweet

hell no it doesn't. I had mine since March. Rides like a dream. I have Orangatang orange In Heats too. Its a beautiful match. You can bomb hills with ease and stability and carve through crowds (I live in NYC) like its nobody's business! I love it! Considering my first was a Landyachtz DH R.

Get a stiffer board if you want downhill. I would say the dervish is better for what you want tho.  Lower center of gravity so less wobbles. Also easier for commuting because you leg is less bent over the board while pushing.

ive had my vanny 3 years. THIS THING IS VERY FLEXY and will break in and get looser as time passes. but there is never ever such a thing as too much flex. i often ride straight off 2ft curbs, boneless, shovits, ghost kickflips, etc, and feel the board bottom out, but no worrys this thing is built like a tank. even if you dont ride as hard as i do this deck will last you. HOWEVER. if ur into tricks buy a dervish.i didnt get 1 cuz it came out after i got my vanny b4 it came out. : /
