  • its true nobodies lying, go to japan and you'll definitely find something like this... there are qute a few of these in garden related traditional places they have people who put make up on you and clothes from these traditional....you can dress up as either man or women all traditional costumes... well have fun

  • Hehe at the end it was so funny! The best geishas ive seen! I so wanna get dressed up as one, but i hate travelling! How long did it take you to get there?

  • to get to japan or the studio? The studio is in Kyoto and easy to get to.

  • oh nevermind. I found the website and translated it.. wow. Thanks..I can't beleive I can actually be let to dress like a maiko.. I never thought in a million years anybody would let westerners dress inthis traditional form.

Did they let you walk rounda bit? like in the street?

  • In Japan there are loads of these photo studios that you can go to, especially in Kyoto. If you google "geisha maiko photo studio" you should come up with a few. You can choose different packages, and one of them does allow you to walk around the street. We just chose the package with the photos and then 15 minutes in their little garden to take our own photos. Good luck, hope you make it to the studio, its lots of fun!

  • i typed those words into google...I didnt get anything that would suggess this make-over.

  • could you message me with any contact info you have? like a website?

I am fascinated by Geisha and it has been a dream of mine to dress (properly) as maiko/geisha.

  • microhomemail: check my message further down the page, it has the details

  • did you feel uncomfortable being a westerner and dressing in a kimono at all? i know i would... still, its pretty neat!

  • Not at all aurielmoon, its a studio that you can go to just for the experience, so when you look at their wall of polaroid photos of previous customers, there's loads of gaijin (foreigners) that have been there, men included.

  • thats so cool! i want to do that

  • hey guys, thanks for the comments! I did the makeover in Gion, Kyoto. Luckily for me my brother & sister-in-law (the other girl in the video) live there. Youtube wont let me enter the website address, try googling kyoto-maiko or email infoatkyoto-maikodotcom. They have different packages to choose from. Have fun guys!!!

  • OMG!!!!! THAT is what I always wanted to do and didn't know it! How cool! You are the first distinclty Western looking Maiko and it REALLY suits you! YOu must tell us what the contact info is so we can all go Maiko for a day! OMG OMG OMG

  • I did that when I was in Kyoto 2 years ago. It is something to look like a porcelian doll. Stunning.

  • I have the same question as gackt33! o.O That is amazing! I'm really interested - I thought you could only wear a simple kimono and prance about for a few hours, not dress as maiko! Did you get to walk around? I'm assuming this was somewhere in Kyoto? The Gion area, perhaps? Would you mind giving out some infomation for us? -hugs- You two looked like beautiful porcelain dolls! So cute! <3
