  • One of the best set-ups I've seen outside of commercial aquariums that admit people for money!

  • how do you prevent the the Mantis from taking the refugium residents?

  • I LOVE the pink Gracilara Parvispora!!!!!

  • are you aware that one of your mantis pics is being used on EcoTech's facebook page?

  • one word....... Epic!

  • Tony Jaa of the sea!!

  • You have an awesome tank!

  • Beautiful

  • thanks for uploading this! it was awesome to see a clear video of the beautiful mantis shrimp in action! :) i love those things! sooo beautiful!

  • Spectacular. Any advice on how to determine what can be safely kept with a mantis shrimp?

  • Elevator music?

  • BEAUTIFUL tank. I wish I had the time and energy/will to maintain a tank so well. What are the silver school fish with the black striped tails? they look like cold water fish.

  • cool tanks

  • Is she a insect fish

  • I've heard this music before. Do you know what the name of it is?

  • is it normal to have fish in the refugium?

I thought the refugium only holds algae..

  • wow!

your refugium almost looks better than your main display tank

  • @Rodsfam , i am sure you have been asked this ,the refugarium is a beautiful tank why hide it ?

  • Fine specimens my dear sir, if I must say so myself.

  • Your whole set up looks sick! I am going to try an d set up a marine tank when I move in March. I had freshwater tankes when I was younger but this will be the first marine tank. Any suggestions or advice? Are they more successful if you have a refugium tank? What's a good started tank? Size? Breed of fish?

  • Wow just wow!

  • Its lovely, and is this by any chance a Telemann trumpet concerto?

  • when will u eat it? lol

  • Your refugium looks better than my DT. :(

  • Pakita is a gorgeous creature! Lovely video!

  • @GrandmaNettie Thanks !!

  • So Brilliant :D!

  • Amazing video. I wondered after watching this. Why did these shrimp evolve their eyes in this particular fashion, and not evolve better sight by adding more eyes, like spiders?

  • @Kolenschopper These guys have way more complex eyes than humans. Look it up.

  • Fascinating!

Does the Mantis shrimp ever take a shot at the fish? Or does it only prefer invertebrates?

Do they break aquarium glass often?

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • Awesome!

  • Soooo.. when are we eating it?

  • Gorgeous set up bro, very risky tho!! The mantis can kill those fish as I'm sure you know, I'm assuming that you have your fuge on for around 17 hours (or reverse but you turned the lights on to show the vid) but that mantis as you said can smash the fuge walls and have a big spill on your hands...the caulerpa can "go sexual" if you're not thinning it out regularly, though you do have a very high nutrient load in the tank so that may or may not be a concern since it probably won't starve out an

  • Wonderful!!

  • Hi Rodsfam, Im really impressed with you refugium-aquarium, where can I see your sump, reactors, setup....anything ...

    Very nice works Dude!

    Regards

  • Thats the first time I have ever seen anything with a Mantis. How many hours is your light on for the refugium?

  • @barronredneck , 15 hours

  • @Rodsfam Is that a mushroom at 1:00?

  • i also give my 7" cock a big introduction

  • :OOO What would you do if it would crack the glass?

  • @runescapefreak795 , to thick for her

  • awesome tank man..its flabbergasting to see how well u maintain it!!

awesome mate! i wd kill to get such a tank but i cat in the place i live..

    u rock dude!

    liked n favourited

  • @dheemahit , thanks !

  • That DT is amazing.

  • that little crab got owned lol

  • that shrimp thing is ugly

  • ... air bubbles on water are unnecessary on reef tanks!!!! they are VERY irritant for urs corals dood,...

  • Nice tank but the music is a bit gay

  • my 7'' peacock mantis shrimp....... LOOLOLOL

  • These things creep me out. I like land mantises better.

  • 3:23 Such a cute fish :3 ... 3:24 omg! Where's the fish???????? O_O ... 3:26 LOL xddddddddddddddddddddddddddd

  • can you do a video of your sump setup?

  • wow dude that is a nice setup good job!

  • Man ur tank beautyful

  • Man I love the set up you have there!!! May I ask do the copepods and amphipods travel from refugium to reef tnk at will or are they stuck in one or the other? I am only asking because I am trying to design a refugium for my future tank and I wish to have a way for the pods to be able to be self sustaining as much as possible.

  • That thing isnt strong at all.

  • what is the name of the fish with the black and white striped tail

  • Nice setup although your 'fuge' is more of a tank extension.

  • Can you make a 5 min video of just the tank,

  • cool...

  • Amazing animal

  • Damn that's all I can say

  • great tanks! I'm not so much into salt water aquariums [I have 3 200L planted tanks :D] but I have to admit that the bright colours of the sea environment are fantastic!

  • i think mantis shrimp are fascinating but its a shame one has to feed them crustaceans since for me, fiddler craps and the like are almost as interesting in their own right.

  • And here I am with my 3 gallon fishtank with two festival won goldfish...LMAO

  • whats up with the porn music?

  • I got a coral yesterday and it opened slightly. It's a flowerpot coral.

    Thanks!!! nice tank

  • Those eyes make superman look like a mole.

  • Great video! I'm so happy to see people take good care of the animals they have.

  • he can be with other fish?

  • awww how cute btw i rly love your tank set up <3

  • how u do that? so nice!!

  • This is one of the best fish tanks vids on youtube

  • Now that's what u call nice

  • I've heard that saltwater tank setups can be much more expensive to start up and keep my hands away from it because it could snap your finger bones like pretzels--liked seeing your tanks and critters

  • can i ask, how you know when they got someone missing in the tank?

like die behind the ref or something like that?

    you count them every day?

  • u know its a healthy tank, when the powder blue tang ,is actually powder blue! good job

  • wow.. she is so beautiful....and so dangerous.. i love it :)

  • The Crazed Muay Thai Fighter of the crustaceans

  • jajaja ohh yess !

  • SO WILL THIS EAT FISH IF THEY STRAY TOO CLOSE.

  • Beautiful beyond the mind thank u for showing this it just made my night.

  • your refugium is a display tank in itself nice work.

  • Great work!!! I love this hobby.

  • Comment removed

  • this has got to be the dopest tank ever.

  • The Angel Fish in your reef tank is gorgeous.

  • Why there's no update since such long time?

  • What's keeping it from breaking the glass? It seems like quite a risk having one knowing that it might break the aquarium when you're asleep.

  • @FalseExodus there very intelligent and realize that breaking the glass for no reason is pointless unless you tempt them in some way to break the glass for food its very unlikely they will even attemp to. Only the biggest mantis shrimp can break glass over 1/4 inch thick.

  • that is one awesome setup.

  • i didn't even know a creature like this existed! :D hoe beautiful! how very lucky you are to have her:)

  • Well done! Please give me the information on the sound track for this video

  • A mantis shrimp's punch is almost equivalent to a bullet's power. Such a dangerous yet beautiful creature.

  • I'm surprised all those fish are alive. You must keep it fed well.

  • Amazing...

  • beautiful

  • Your tanks are so fucking fabulous!

  • Wait. Wait wait wait. Did you actually plan on having a mantis shrimp in there? Those guys can be MEAN to EVERYTHING in a tank.

  • You got to be a proud aquarist, congrats!

  • Wow!

  • That's an extremely impressive setup you've got there. It looks like a nightmare to set up all that plumbing and everything. That's why I'm stuck with my apple snails and pillbugs :)

  • How did u get the coral legally if u did?

  • wonder!

  • weres the mantis

  • very nice man i really like your set up

  • So, I thought the Mantis Shrimp will kill all of the other fish in the tank..

  • love the fuge....nice collection of macro too.

  • Doesn't the pistol shrimp haver a faster strike? Theirs actually breaks the sound barrier thats why you here the pop...

  • No, The pistol Shrimp's claws are formed so that when they are clicked together, the water rushing out and the claws hitting each other makes the noise, so is that really defined as a punch, or a snap?

  • You are awesome! what's the significance of having the two tanks connected?

  • Respect!

    from a fellow reefer.

  • Thts one ugly lookin muthafucka

  • Dis nigga rich, y'all.

  • wonderful collection. looks very nice. i loved it!

  • I'm jealous of the size of your tank but very happy I'm not doing water changes on a system that size. Gorgeous tanks though!

  • great tank! i'd like to have a mantis lake that.... aren't you afraid about your tank's glasses and the little fish in the refugium?

  • That's quite the collection.

  • thats not a refugium thats a full blown tank come onnnnnnnnnnnnn

  • Wow, Wow... This video was WOW... Beautiful TANKS...

  • what kind of fish is the brown fuzzy looking one? i can not find it any where online he comes in about 20 seconds into the video swiming toward the left side.

  • @jadesarah516 That's a filefish.

  • The best looking refugium i have seen so far. Nice job, love the Mantis :)

  • Are you able to tell the males and females apart by looks or did you have her sexed? or are you just assigning her gender because she's so pretty! :-D

  • How do you keep your mantis from eating everyone else in the tank? I was under the impression that they'd destroy pretty much anything that moves...? Lovely, both setups. Curious what you do in case you need to quarantine?

  • @ivyrakestraw I am also curious why the shrimp is not eating the fish. I would think he would be able to easily catch them.

  • That's a beautiful refugium, must have taken some real effort to get it like that?

  • Wow... How much did this setup cost you?

  • Faving this so I can find out what are the names of the musics in this, particularly the piano one (also "zomg! so pretty!" but that is old news by now =P )

  • Whats a refugium for?

  • my dick is hard.... beautiful set up i only wish i could keep a set up like that alive great edting too!!!!

  • wouldn't it kill your fish if it gets hungry 0_o, or are those fish not in its natural diet?

  • I know Chuck Norris feeds his bare handed.

  • Love how you say MY 7'' Are you trying to make up for something..Just messin.. love you tank

  • WOW ur tanks are Amazing!

  • what's the music for the piano?

  • HOLY CRAP that was an amazing set up, wish i could do something as cool as this but im too lazy lol and i bet it cost a fortune to get it like this. im just happy i saw someone dedicated enough to do this

  • WOW IM IMPRESSED MATE your house must be heaven to watch that beutiful sight... do you fancy a lodger;)

  • That's just plain beautiful! I would love a tank like that!

  • Wow You must be really attentive when cleaning each of those tanks up because even the slightest miscalculation could lead to an imbalance. Good job!

  • Superb!

  • Great refugium!

I'm pretty sure that mantis is a he not a she.

  • Very interesting,thank you

  • Very nice!

  • We are desparately waiting for some more updates. Its been a long time, I am sure.

  • Thank you very much for sharing your babies with us! This video is one of the finest examples of how to create a good video. You give me hope.

  • I search my international dictionary , and there's no word can describe how beautiful your setup and your Mantis Shrimp is ... sry to dissapoint u :P

  • 2 people are jealous of this tank :D

  • What are sizes of tank? I like the format, or better said, the comparison.

  • 48 x 24 x 24

  • am i the only one or does this music match the video :)

  • i like the music too

  • 3 words fan taby tosy! absolutly brilliant

  • thanks !

  • I love how you call her "Beautiful". She is rather cute in an odd sort of way.

  • cute, beautiful, pretty, georgeous

  • White sharks are not aggresive, they can be swam with if you respect their space and learn that you are in their world. They have some aggresion but by far are not man eaters, they are very misunderstood. If your looking for a aggresive shark see the bull shark, the creature with the most testostoron on the planet! Vist my channel for more on sharks :D

  • yeah Bull shark are very agressive... thanks for comment

  • @Rodsfam :)

  • @Rodsfam Amazing shrimp by the way :)

  • @Rodsfam good job this is one stable unit ,,,, so i got to ask do you watch your reef or your refugium more ?

  • WOW by far the largest mantis ive ever seen.....absolutely beautiful.... beautiful main tank as well....very well done!

  • Yeaaa and she's healty , strong, agressive but georgeous!

  • Wow your refugium is bigger than the Display tank I plan on setting up soon..

  • ; )

  • @Rodsfam sir have by far THE MOST AMAZING AND WELL MADE AQUARIUM IVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE!! :D

  • what fish is that at 36 seconds in?

  • @Gabrielberlinjerry the black and white one? striped damsel if that's the one you are talking about.

  • Your system is excellent! Ive never seen a tank that had such a good balance between greenery and anemone.

  • I don't know much about the species, do they mainly eat shellfish? Cause he seems to have no problem with the other fish swimming around.

  • i feel like playing pokemon now... how odd.

  • how well does it get along with the fish? have you had him in there for a while?
