Sorry, Loki is not for sale :-) but, if you want to build a Robot like him, all the schematics, source code, and lots of mechanical design pictures are on my website.
Thanks! Sorry for the delayed response. Each eye is 12 leds, controlled in sequence to make the "blink". I put surgical tubing in front of the LEDs to diffuse the light. The lights are controlled by the same PIC processor that reads all the sensors. In the future, I plan to replace the PIC with Arduino.
Congratulations, for a homemade robot its amazing, just wondering however, how much money and time did you invest on that robot. I am considering to make my own robot similar to what you have except less mobile and more artificial intelligence. thank you.
May I ask you a question ? How do I make a motor controlled by a cpu, go faster, and have its own power supply, but having it only feed the motor ? The motor receives 1,5 V to move, but it's too little and the result is a slow motion forward, the max votalge is 5V, max RPM 3000. I thought of making a simple gate, using either a PNP or NPN transistor. I'd appreciate it, very much. Thank you for your time !
I heard INTEL processor? right I think. So this robot have questions memorized and answer react from voice detection? maybe tones? Very nice design. Mmmm not agrre too much with "humans have original thoughts...", if this were true, more money will be expend in this area, but lot fo money go to WC...
Amazing. Loved it. Really surprised with how he looks, sounds and acts. Is he build up of normal out of the box pc parts? I think I can see him running Windows XP?
Rather interesting, but that he says his favorite movie is Star Wars mean's he does not have his own opinions, would be very cool if you could allow it to learn to like new things, based on some pre-determined factors and in addition to anything new it likes, such as liking a colour, and then to learn to like all objects associated with that colour.
I plan to add RSS feed monitoring, so Loki can start to build up his own "opinions" on things going on in the world. But, need to get the basics done first.
Not yet; I am working on a combination Polygon outline matching and SURF implementation to have him identify any object he pickes up. Stay tuned... :-)
I have degrees in computer science and electrical engineering. But, I have been a manager for many years... This is how I stay technical, is playing with this stuff. So really, I am at the hobby level. I expand upon a lot of great stuff that others have done, and posted on the internet, particularly OpenCV for computer vision.
@dshinsel007 brilliant robot, i just want to ask how close is loki of having complete AI (artificial intelligence) capabilities?,
what do you think about linking loki up with a biological brain for example a rat brain . iv seen few robots on youtube who are being controlled by rat brains .
would love hear youe thoughts about that, good work keep it up
im so pissed i cant see any videos now, can anyone help me i accidentally pushed the block button on the top right hand side corner above the video, do anyone know how to unblock it??
Two levels: Command level to respond to specific pre-programmed words, and "Conversation AI", like a "chat bot". Not a full-blown "Learning AI" (yet!). Camera video has video frame detection and tracking classes for Face detection, object detection, laser pointer detection, motion detection, etc.
how far are we from a full-blown "Learning AI" ? When do you think we will be able to do this? Has the military already made full-blown "Learning AI" and doesn't want us to know?
Thanks, All for the great comments! Lots of fun, but not enough time for all the features I want to add! (and yes, I want to have him sing his favorite songs. :-)
Yep, I loved Short Circuit, but wanted something a little different. I built Loki before Wall-E came out; I like the way Wall-E's head retracts into his body. Hmmmm... a new feature? :-)
This is excellent. One of the most impressive home-built robots I've ever seen. How much of this video was a "demo" and how much of it is free form interaction? Nice work!

very, very nice. Is this an ALICE bot?
Darrell28 2 years ago
The AI is a combined direct command interface and modified version of
the "Rebecca" AIML parser/database, which is descended from A.L.I.C.E. This
(like the rest of Loki) is definitely a work in progress.
