con't - Politically and socially people have become so intrusive that you have to run every decision you make by everyone else. Not only that, you're DEMANDING their approval. Why is it society's business how John Barrowman lives his life? He's an adult. John, help me out here. Why are you so interested in getting society's approval? You don't need it. You're a good guy. People can choose to eat meat, not eat meat, drink and not drink, and that's fine. But on this issue especially, you can't.

This is where religion has gone off the rails for me. It's become entirely too fascistic. Totalitarianism is about collectivism, everyone in lockstep to a certain ideal. You've got the church trying to make everyone, religious or not, behave in a certain way, and you've got the other side trying to do the same thing and force society and religion to accept things that are incompatible with their conscience. Nobody's an individual anymore. What's right for you may not be right for me.

I haven't come out to my family yet because i feel i amn't ready to yet but when i do, i just hope my parents are going to be as accepting to me as John's parents were to him. It's a shame i am the other type of gay because John's hot!

He is spot on! Gay is not a choice, it just is; skin/eye colour is not choice, it just is; your parents are not a choice, they just are. Lifestyle is a choice (sportsman, couch potato, volunteer, clubwoman... these are things one chooses to be). It is amazing that some think of gay as a "lifestyle." It's 2008, and some people still believe that being gay is a choice... would anyone willingly chose to be scorned and hated by other (perhaps ignorant) people?

It's evident that as long as you have your family's support, you can almost do anything.

If people who are supposed to love you no matter what condition their love to you not being gay... well... it's a little bit more difficult to be trusting and open and self confident, at least in this regard.

As a catholic i would have to agree with alot of John's views. More of the liberal christians have understood modern day life and brought their religeon with it. I think if we are all humanist and wanting to do good and as John said, "be the best we can be", who cares if someones gay or straight.

i guess it was hard for john doing torchwood, cos he says that he believes in god in this clip, but there is that theme in torchwood saying that when you die, theres nothing, so it must have been hard acting in torchwood when you beleive the opposite of what is in your script.
