As for the question: How can he see? People can sleep with their eyes open. There are people who sleepwalk & walk great distances in their sleep. One would question whether he was really asleep, but according to local news & other sources, Hadwin was tested at a sleep clinic & is in fact asleep when he paints. (The work I saw is good. One work- a sun- seemed strongly influenced by Van Gogh.)
That number 7571193965 in one of the painting was dreamed and painted on harm when sleeping also by this girl on this link answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20101021092044AAPEORz
My theory is... You are all idiots. The simplest explanation is that he does these simplistic artworks while awake, then lies about the fact he was asleep when he did them. Call me crazy. Occams razor and all that.
anyone here have talked of the influence of "cosmos" in the art he creates. I totally agree with that. Someone communicates through it .. some entity that creates art using Lee as a vehicle. For those who know the course of Picasso from childhood will see styles that are very similar to those of Lee.
I was reading about Lee in the local editon of the Metro today and I was amazed at his abilities to draw so many wierd and wonderful things whilst asleep. Absolutely fascinating stuff thanks for sharing!
Here's my thoughts on it, as Lee is asleep I believe it is his subconcious or even unconcious abilities that create the images, so in effect I wonder if it is possible that the inspiration comes from the cosmos itself..if that is the case, then what or who is the intelligence behind it? A far reaching idea would be that he is recieving signals from another civilisation? I say that because in one drawings is a sketch of a UFO. Or maybe he is subconciously clairvoyant? Just food for though.
@sooperheromax definitely agree with you there. The picture that I saw in the Metro today depicted some very interesting signs, numbers and images and it would be interesting to know what they exactly correlate to. This man has a unique gift. I'm jealous lol
@MissInformed1967 One thing for certain is I'm pretty sure they aren't completely random. I keep thinking it's some sort of monolithic subconcious puzzle that in time we can piece together. I myself dream music and often wake up with beautiful melodies that I usually transcribe into written songs, of which I have many. What's unusual about that is the fact there are no musicians in my family at all, the closest it gets is my mum used to whistle occasionally!!
@sooperheromax Let's not discard perfectly simple and natural explanations in favor of fanastic ones that don't even make sense, such as psychic powers or extra terrestrials taking over his body at night in order to create pencil sketches. This is just a rather unusual form of sleepwalking.
I don't have an explanation, but I do know that our brains work in much different ways when we sleep.
Second, I think that Lee Hadwin talent might be a manifestation of his daimon [or, daemon]. When he is asleep, he has so-called moments of genius, which means, practically, the moments when Lee gets in touch with his superior self [daimon].

First of all, great song! anyone knows the name?
