  • okay people, my opinion on this is, they SHOULD be allowed to get married and adopt kids. the simple thing is, the parents ARE NOT going to make there kids be gay, they ARE NOT going to be bad parents (they get screened for this people) so, if 2 parents of different genders can get married, why not 2 people of the same gender not allowed to? lets face it, BECAUSE they are ALWAYS under the light, same sex people are probably not going to hurt there kids.

  • The whole gay vs straight marriage thing is not really the issue here. If the research was to include all couples who adopt versus those who conceive their own children, the outcome would show similar results. Parents who adopt have a much higher standard to adhere to than the underage teen that got knocked up at a party. Having children is a privilege not a right. All parents should be held to a higher standard so all children can have the best possible chance at a healthy life.

I've been working in the jail for the past two years while volunteering for the foster care program and I'll stand proud in saying that any child who has an opportunity at a better life is wonderful! Parents who adopt sacrifice a LOT - not only monetarily, but there is that emotional risk with adoptions that aren't "closed" (meaning biological parents are still involved). I don't care what the religion, race, gender orientation, whatever is. Rick Santorum is a dick.

  • That study would have made more sense if homosexual couples with adopted kids were against heterosexual couples with adopted kids. Then it'd be clear who's better parents. Surveyors hand picked their participants. Who were these other surveyors? GAY psychologists and assistants.

So one thing that would be important to prove is that gay people can't really love one another, but why wouldn't they be able to? I don't see a reason I should believe they don't, but I do know they say they do, so why shouldn't I trust that?

  • If two men or two women get children (because they can not have them natural....THE WAY GOD INTENDED), they are 99.999999999% likely to raise that child according to their views that being a homosexual is ok, which in turn will most likely make that child grow up homosexual, because if said child goes to it's parents with feelings for the same sex, they WILL NOT tell the child that is is morally NOT ok.

    It's already been scientifically shown that homosexuality is not a choice, it is how some people are born. It's part of their brain chemistry. While it's technically true that being in gay relationships is a choice, it's not fair to force someone not to do that when that's the only kind of relationship that can ever make them happy.

    There have been many studies with strong evidence performed by many different institutions. You can look it up. And, you can't use the bible as "evidence", if you're arguing against scientific evidence. Why would a scientist try to give anyone false statements? It goes against the whole point of science. No scientist is trying to "disprove" God either, because nothing can be "disproven". The burden of evidence is on the person making the claim.

For example, the latest one saying gay parents raise "better" kids. They didn't get an independent evaluation of the behavior of these kids, they asked the gay parents if their child was normal! You're right, the burden of evidence IS on the person making the claim. Psycho surveys don't wait for duplication!

    Actually, the most important point I can make is that the U.S. constitution includes a clause about separation of church and state. The fact that you have biblical views is fine, but it should hold no importance in the secular views of other people. By not allowing homosexual couples to raise children, you are robbing them of their right to have their own beliefs.

Saying only heterosexual couples can have a child or adopt is saying single people can't adopt kids from foster care either. The people we should be worrying about are the children, there are people here gay, straight or single willing to show love and care to a child. Instead of leaving the child thinking everyone hates him.

Of course, those for whom that's more of 50+% inspiration will have a higher chance of failing as parents, because it stops being about the kid. They have the advantage of always wanting the kids they have, unless they maybe one time experimented with hetero sex and a baby fell out. (That's how it works...right?)

    1. Homosexual couples only have adoption as a source for children. So, of COURSE you're not going to have children that were "accidents" from this minority demographic! Apples and Oranges, but it seems to work for these two dicks

    2. MOST heterosexual couples can make their own babies. In fact, ALL the children ever produced came from these couples

  • I think that couples that are generally considered "not the norm" tend to have the most success because they have to work a little harder at their relationship than most people. Since the average lifespan of a marriage is seven years, maybe working harder and having a family stay together in a happy home is worth it after all. I have no problem with gay marriage and same-sex parents.

  • @Therealmensa I mean like Guess Who's Coming to Dinner style couples and same-sex couples. Polygamy is, in my opinion, sort of counter intuitive. However I would love to see it legalized because so many of the second, third and fourth wives are on women and children's support that their husbands don't feel the need to support them. I would love to see those men have to support their multiple wives because then, it would be a huge obstacle in the way of polygamy. Just saying.

  • Children need the influence of different genders in order to define their character and help them judge the character of others. If someone is raised without the influence of one gender or the other they are denied that role model imprint and their view of others may be clouded because of this lack of definition.

  • @spencmmWB Yes they may, but that doesn't make them better or worse. Besides, the same could go for religion or any other characteristic. By that logic, every variable influencing humans should be in a relationship, because they change lives. Genders aren't that important. They are human created and a lot about these 'roles' are wrong. That's why it's in constant flux and is thus not important. If they teach their children how to respect others and such, thats better than most.

  • Just saying, I am a child of a lesbian couple. They worked EXTREMELY hard to get and consider me a blessing(cocky of me i know). ANYWHO I think I turned out ok. 3.4 gpa, never did any drugs or alcohol and recieved 22,000 in scholarships ALONE.

    My parents did an amazing job raising me. They raised me to be a good person and care for others.

    Point being? Their sexual orientation had nothing to do with how well they raised me.That was due to their hard work, compassion and most importantly LOVE.
