This doesn't address the claim demonstrated in other videos that optmization and OCR is ADOBE Acrobat is what causes the clarification and layering of text. This is claimed to have been done in the movie "Disproving critics of Obama's Birth Certificate" by onecooldan. What is the response to that?
All of this is moot. It doesn't matter where a person was born. As long as they have a good heart and love us all, then it's okay with me. And with the signing of the National Defense Authorization Act, Obama shows that regardless of anything else, he is a wonderful man. Now any of us can be taken away in the night for speaking against the government and imprisoned indefinitely with no charges, right to a trial or lawyer. Torture is probably in there too. I know nothing of this technology, but if all you've discovered about this birth certificate is absolute proof it's a fake, & there is no way a president's experts can disprove it, why aren't you bringing this to the media? AMAZING JOB DUDE. I have worked with Photoshop and Illustrator since before they even had layers! I have been professionally designing and art directing for the last 22 years. Disney, Universal Studios. Sony etc. I downloaded the certificate and examined pixel by pixel myself.

The White House original PDF is clearly a forgery. There should be only an image layer and absolutely NO object layers in an allegedly scanned document such as this.

I have heard people make the argument that if this were true, "so what, it shouldn't matter." But think about this. Yes, this is all very interesting. But I believe the original pdf certificate was produced by Hawaii, and that the original had faded in many places so as to be almost too light to read. Perhaps the unreadable original should have been posted on the White House site, but then everyone would be howling saying they couldn't read it.

@dtactim - it is not cut and dry. There is NO PROOF (as in evidence that would be accepted in a court of law) that Obama was born in Hawaii or anywhere in the entire United States for that matter. There is however evidence (his grandmother, ambassador from Kenya to USA, his own statements on video) that he was in fact born in Kenya. There is thus circumstantial evidence he is Kenyan, but not even circumstantial evidence he was born in the USA. We have only his word- the word of a LIAR!
Also you did not optimize the pdf correctly, since it was done already. The original file is less that 400kb, the only way to get an letter size scanned pdf to that size is to optimize it. You changed the original images by using searchable image at 600ppi, that's why they looked different. You then optimized the pdf with medium jpg compression, which reduces the colors used in a pdf and would effect appearances you focused on.
Your information about OCR is also misleading and in this case incorrect. OCR was not run on the original file true. But you did not use OCR the way you claim it works. You used the Searchable Image feature. That does not convert the image to text. It leaves the image intact - it will not change the appearance on screen in any way, it adds searchable but invisible text on top of the preexisting images. Clearscan isn the option that converts to Text. Read Adobe's online help files for proof.
If those "Layers" as you still call them were imported into AI, then they'd the Size, Kind, Modified Link Information listed in the Link information instead of "NA". It is common for any scanned PDF to have the images listed as scaled to 24%, in fact I've never seen different, and note that all the images are rotated 90 degrees. -this is because the birth certificate was scanned on it's side and then entire PDF was rotated. This is done in Acrobat or in the scanner software at the source.
I'm still trying to figure out why anyone would have ran the original photocopy or scan through OCR in the first place unless they were up to no good.

Not knocking you, I'm only saying for your benefit, the OCR / Optimization comes into play when the Original (any document) is Scanned, Not once you have the document 'in the computer', but again, when you are scanning the document the first time. That's the only thing I can think of , you might want to try... Just saying... But... Very Good Job.

You konw if they really wanted to fake this, they could've just gone full screen > Print Screen > Paint > Paste > Save as .bmp > Load pic into Adobe > Save as .pdf. A teenager could do that XD

This is pretty easily done with any document you might have lying around your house, a scanner, and some software. He's using an Apple, so I guess his ignorance shouldn't be surprising. It's not. Nice slight-of-hand there with the handwritten note, which allows you to get around the OCR problem, but doesn't prove anything. Take a document (on paper) like an employment application, which will contain both handwritten and printed text, then scan it as a JPG ONLY. When you open the JPG in Illustrator and have the document optimized and OCR'd, it WILL have LAYERS! Explain to us how that happens, fuckstick.

@drcauble Anyone who was born in Hawaii before it became part of the US had a recorded birth, once Hawaii became part of the United States they copied all of the files over and issued birth certificates for recording purposes. It says the date you were born on even if it was before Hawaii was considered a state. The birth certificate itself was issued after Hawaii became a state. Sorry for the confusion.

I'm doing an comparative analysis between the WH BC and similar docs that have been scanned and optimized to prove/disprove the theory. @orangegold1 My guess is that, if BO is tossed out of the Oval Office and arrested for fraud (impeachment would apply only to legit POTUS's), not only would all of his legislation be null and void, but all of his appointments, judges, czars, etc, would be voided also - which means that if BO was fraudulently elected, then so was Biden. My guess is that Biden would be tossed out, as well, and the House Speaker would be interim POTUS until a special election was held to fill the office.

i agree, a bad forgery. forget about the layers etc, look at the upper left hand corner where the image appears to curl, like it were scanned from a book. the text and lines curve but the background stays straight. And if they were trying to make the text look clearer by doing an image edit layers in photoshop and then importing into illustrator... then why did they ADD white spots to the document in two separate areas to make it look "older" or distorted! LOL.
:-) So they scanned the original sheet from the book, and decided to publish it on top of a green barred background. They probably wanted to prevent people from tampering with it.
So what? This only proves that they had to reassemble the parts on the new green background. It can still be a correct represantation of the real birth certificate. :-)

It says his father was born in Kenya, the wikipedia says Kenya didn't exist till 1963. Two years after the messiah was born. Also, his race was listed as African. The term you're looking for to identify the multi-colored pixels around the actual handwriting vs. the brushstrokes is chromatic aberration. The White House states this is a scanned image and chromatic aberration exists around some but not the entire document, impossible, definitely a forgery. In your next video you should talk about how the background is simply missing around most of the text, writing, and stamps on the document. The background should exist throughout the entire document.
Second, have you ever looked at the short form and analyzed that? I would be curious to hear you take on that. One odd thing I noticed is that the form that is on the Whitehouse.gov site has a notation at the bottom that it came from Snopes.com. I was pretty sure that Snopes was left leaning before this, but now I know. The question is, does the Whitehouse not own a scanner? Did they really need Snopes to scan and upload this "authentic" document?

One issue I wanted to ask you about is color aberration. The World Net Daily workup on the birth certificate claims that a small color fringe, apparent only when the document is zoomed in, is added whenever any document is scanned in a color scanner. Since the Birth Cert doesn't have any color fringing, it couldn't have been scanned as they claimed.

UK law expressly holds an OCR-ed document can't be offered as proof of authenticity (because it alters the document in such a way that the authenticity can't be determined), but may be offered 'as is' if the document itself is not contested (for ease of searching through)

OCR alters the document. Why would a purposefully altered document be offered to as proof as legitimacy? I could not offer a altered document or display of a document to a court if an unaltered document exists, if the purpose of the display is to prove the legitimacy of the document. Why would a presidential administration knowingly OCR the document knowing that it alters the document?
You are using the OCR within Adobe. Different programs have different qualities and will generate different idiosyncrisies. Unless you can produce the precise software that they used to scan the document in, this whole process is all for naught. You have splendid ideas, but this simply is not far enough. It could have been a real cheap program that created these effects that they did not anticipate, or a high-end one that was able to more specifically read cursive. Nor did you scan your pics
@Andreychek Nope. Scan any document using any software and make a PDF or simply download one anywhere on the internet. Use any decent image editing software that does layering. The artifacts are always there. It is because PDF is a child of Postscript, which is intended to use built in printer fonts.

I am not yet convinced. Prove that you can create an identical document to Obama's LF B. Cert. "Identical" meaning: Layer 1 > Group > Group > Image AND Clipping Path twirl-downs for added elements. Added elements have IDENTICAL Link properties to Obama's. And all added elements are NOT anti-aliased. It's final output must be a .pdf created BY Preview, as the original document is.
Record in video All additions and changes . 1 file on computer should have that file name - show search in Finder.
I'm a professional graphic designer with over 20 years of experience. This is a document that has been created by modifying other documents and NOT an original. It is not even done very well and the designer that Obama's administration hired should be fired! This is a bad forgery!

Try it yourself.
Scan any document, save it directly as PDF. Open it in any decent imaging editing software that does lawyers. You can even download documents off the internet. All PDF documents have layers. It is because PDF is a child of Postscript (which you would know if you were actually a graphics artist) and happens automatically every time a PDF file is created.
@darylstevens that's because it possibly isn't a forgery. If you scan a document using acrobat pro, deselect OCR then drag the result into illustrator you will indeed see the added layers. You can click on the various layers and see very similar reactions to what you see with the layered Obama scan. I've been working with PS since 1998 too, but never scanned using acrobat pro. Now I have it, I tried it, and it does produce the said layers. It might be a fake, but the layers issue is no proof.
Reducing a 10Mpix to 5Mpix basically comes to a process of averaging the colors of adjacent pixels and mapping them into a single pixel, effectively reducing the number of pixels represented.
but even if this was done it should be a global reduction not a small area applied formula - skipping the rest of the image. good video but this fact cast doubts as you wholesale said no way when I know it is true for images
why are you re-optimizing and OCR-ing the document that has already been processed? That doesnt prove anything. print the doc out, and scan it back in into acrobat X. go to ...document processing... optimize scanned pdf (not just optimize PDF which is your apparent proof in this video). change the OCR settings to CLEARSCAN instead of searchable image, run it, then open it in illustrator. youll see layers, links and your supposed paint brush strokes.
@sbabster, Heck, you don’t even have to do THAT much! Using Adobe Acrobat Pro 8, at least, if you simply SCAN A DOCUMENT •DIRECTLY• INTO ACROBAT (note: NOT scan via other software, save as a .TIFF or other image file format, then bring THAT into Acrobat, which is what OrangeGold1 did), and accept the DEFAULT settings on the dialog (you can turn off the OCR, as it’s irrelevant here, and doing so will more accurately duplicate the results seen), you’ll see ALL of the effects of the Obama B.C.!

This doesn't address the claim demonstrated in other videos that optmization and OCR is ADOBE Acrobat is what causes the clarification and layering of text. This is claimed to have been done in the movie "Disproving critics of Obama's Birth Certificate" by onecooldan. What is the response to that?

All of this is moot. It doesn't matter where a person was born. As long as they have a good heart and love us all, then it's okay with me. And with the signing of the National Defense Authorization Act, Obama shows that regardless of anything else, he is a wonderful man. Now any of us can be taken away in the night for speaking against the government and imprisoned indefinitely with no charges, right to a trial or lawyer. Torture is probably in there too. AMAZING JOB DUDE. I have worked with Photoshop and Illustrator since before they even had layers! I have been professionally designing and art directing for the last 22 years. Disney, Universal Studios. Sony etc. I downloaded the certificate and examined pixel by pixel myself.
My final conclusion? -- I would literally STAKE MY LIFE on the FACT -- THIS IS A FORGERY! 100% FAKE FAKE FAKE. Shit, I've done better forgery's!! Wait! Did I say that? KIDDING ;)

Yes, this is all very interesting. But I believe the original pdf certificate was produced by Hawaii, and that the original had faded in many places so as to be almost too light to read. Perhaps the unreadable original should have been posted on the White House site, but then everyone would be howling saying they couldn't read it.

@dtactim - it is not cut and dry. There is NO PROOF (as in evidence that would be accepted in a court of law) that Obama was born in Hawaii or anywhere in the entire United States for that matter. There is however evidence (his grandmother, ambassador from Kenya to USA, his own statements on video) that he was in fact born in Kenya. There is thus circumstantial evidence he is Kenyan, but not even circumstantial evidence he was born in the USA. We have only his word- the word of a LIAR!

Also you did not optimize the pdf correctly, since it was done already. The original file is less that 400kb, the only way to get an letter size scanned pdf to that size is to optimize it. You changed the original images by using searchable image at 600ppi, that's why they looked different. You then optimized the pdf with medium jpg compression, which reduces the colors used in a pdf and would effect appearances you focused on.

Your information about OCR is also misleading and in this case incorrect. OCR was not run on the original file true. But you did not use OCR the way you claim it works. You used the Searchable Image feature. That does not convert the image to text. It leaves the image intact - it will not change the appearance on screen in any way, it adds searchable but invisible text on top of the preexisting images. Clearscan isn the option that converts to Text. Read Adobe's online help files for proof.

If those "Layers" as you still call them were imported into AI, then they'd the Size, Kind, Modified Link Information listed in the Link information instead of "NA". It is common for any scanned PDF to have the images listed as scaled to 24%, in fact I've never seen different, and note that all the images are rotated 90 degrees. -this is because the birth certificate was scanned on it's side and then entire PDF was rotated. This is done in Acrobat or in the scanner software at the source.

Not knocking you, I'm only saying for your benefit, the OCR / Optimization comes into play when the Original (any document) is Scanned, Not once you have the document 'in the computer', but again, when you are scanning the document the first time. He's using an Apple, so I guess his ignorance shouldn't be surprising. It's not. Nice slight-of-hand there with the handwritten note, which allows you to get around the OCR problem, but doesn't prove anything. Take a document (on paper) like an employment application, which will contain both handwritten and printed text, then scan it as a JPG ONLY. When you open the JPG in Illustrator and have the document optimized and OCR'd, it WILL have LAYERS! Explain to us how that happens, fuckstick.

@drcauble Anyone who was born in Hawaii before it became part of the US had a recorded birth, once Hawaii became part of the United States they copied all of the files over and issued birth certificates for recording purposes. It says the date you were born on even if it was before Hawaii was considered a state. The birth certificate itself was issued after Hawaii became a state. Sorry for the confusion.

My guess is that Biden would be tossed out, as well, and the House Speaker would be interim POTUS until a special election was held to fill the office.

i agree, a bad forgery. forget about the layers etc, look at the upper left hand corner where the image appears to curl, like it were scanned from a book. the text and lines curve but the background stays straight. And if they were trying to make the text look clearer by doing an image edit layers in photoshop and then importing into illustrator... then why did they ADD white spots to the document in two separate areas to make it look "older" or distorted! LOL.

So what? This only proves that they had to reassemble the parts on the new green background. It can still be a correct represantation of the real birth certificate. :-)

Why are you using 'Save as: Optimized PDF" instead of the "Optimize Scanned PDF" option (it is under the Documents set on my windows Acrobat).
They seem to give rather different option sets.

The term you're looking for to identify the multi-colored pixels around the actual handwriting vs. the brushstrokes is chromatic aberration. The White House states this is a scanned image and chromatic aberration exists around some but not the entire document, impossible, definitely a forgery. In your next video you should talk about how the background is simply missing around most of the text, writing, and stamps on the document. The background should exist throughout the entire document.

Second, have you ever looked at the short form and analyzed that? I would be curious to hear you take on that. One odd thing I noticed is that the form that is on the Whitehouse.gov site has a notation at the bottom that it came from Snopes.com. I was pretty sure that Snopes was left leaning before this, but now I know. The question is, does the Whitehouse not own a scanner? Did they really need Snopes to scan and upload this "authentic" document?

Then I would like to see the fake and the original that was used for copying. I read that the information was attained from a baby that died; everything is weird.

One issue I wanted to ask you about is color aberration. The World Net Daily workup on the birth certificate claims that a small color fringe, apparent only when the document is zoomed in, is added whenever any document is scanned in a color scanner. Since the Birth Cert doesn't have any color fringing, it couldn't have been scanned as they claimed.
Do you agree with this?

To clarify further: the actual name of the command as it appears in Adobe Acrobat 8 is “Optimize Scanned .PDF.” Again: this is an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT FUNCTION than the “.PDF Optimizer” or “Save As Optimized .PDF” and it is NOT OCR.
When you call it up, a dialog appears that has a Quality vs. File Size slider at the top, and drop-down menus to select levels of:
• Deskew
• Background removal
• Edge shadow removal
• Despeckle
• Descreen
• Halo Removal

I am most curious. What was originally listed in the 'race of father' section. As we all can see, it plainly says "African". "Negro" was accepted as normal, even by people classified as Negroes, until the Civil Rights movement in the late 1960s. Black, or Black African for people native to the African continent, and Afro-American were used from the late 1960s to 1990, and African American after 1990 for people in U.S.A. Obama was born before this event took place. So what was originally there?

UK law expressly holds an OCR-ed document can't be offered as proof of authenticity (because it alters the document in such a way that the authenticity can't be determined), but may be offered 'as is' if the document itself is not contested (for ease of searching through)

OCR alters the document. Why would a purposefully altered document be offered to as proof as legitimacy? I could not offer a altered document or display of a document to a court if an unaltered document exists, if the purpose of the display is to prove the legitimacy of the document. Why would a presidential administration knowingly OCR the document knowing that it alters the document?

You are using the OCR within Adobe. Different programs have different qualities and will generate different idiosyncrisies. Unless you can produce the precise software that they used to scan the document in, this whole process is all for naught. You have splendid ideas, but this simply is not far enough. It could have been a real cheap program that created these effects that they did not anticipate, or a high-end one that was able to more specifically read cursive. Nor did you scan your pics

The artifacts are always there. It is because PDF is a child of Postscript, which is intended to use built in printer fonts.

I am not yet convinced. Prove that you can create an identical document to Obama's LF B. Cert. "Identical" meaning: Layer 1 > Group > Group > Image AND Clipping Path twirl-downs for added elements. Added elements have IDENTICAL Link properties to Obama's. And all added elements are NOT anti-aliased. It's final output must be a .pdf created BY Preview, as the original document is.
Record in video All additions and changes . 1 file on computer should have that file name - show search in Finder.

I'm a professional graphic designer with over 20 years of experience. This is a document that has been created by modifying other documents and NOT an original. It is not even done very well and the designer that Obama's administration hired should be fired! This is a bad forgery!

Try it yourself.
Scan any document, save it directly as PDF. Open it in any decent imaging editing software that does lawyers. You can even download documents off the internet. All PDF documents have layers. It is because PDF is a child of Postscript (which you would know if you were actually a graphics artist) and happens automatically every time a PDF file is created.

@darylstevens that's because it possibly isn't a forgery. If you scan a document using acrobat pro, deselect OCR then drag the result into illustrator you will indeed see the added layers. You can click on the various layers and see very similar reactions to what you see with the layered Obama scan. I've been working with PS since 1998 too, but never scanned using acrobat pro. Now I have it, I tried it, and it does produce the said layers. It might be a fake, but the layers issue is no proof.

Reducing a 10Mpix to 5Mpix basically comes to a process of averaging the colors of adjacent pixels and mapping them into a single pixel, effectively reducing the number of pixels represented.
but even if this was done it should be a global reduction not a small area applied formula - skipping the rest of the image. good video but this fact cast doubts as you wholesale said no way when I know it is true for images

why are you re-optimizing and OCR-ing the document that has already been processed? That doesnt prove anything. print the doc out, and scan it back in into acrobat X. go to ...document processing... optimize scanned pdf (not just optimize PDF which is your apparent proof in this video). change the OCR settings to CLEARSCAN instead of searchable image, run it, then open it in illustrator. youll see layers, links and your supposed paint brush strokes.

Using Adobe Acrobat Pro 8, at least, if you simply SCAN A DOCUMENT •DIRECTLY• INTO ACROBAT (note: NOT scan via other software, save as a .TIFF or other image file format, then bring THAT into Acrobat, which is what OrangeGold1 did), and accept the DEFAULT settings on the dialog (you can turn off the OCR, as it’s irrelevant here, and doing so will more accurately duplicate the results seen), you’ll see ALL of the effects of the Obama B.C.!
