He was & still is the best driver along with Alonso, Vettel & Kubica. Out of them He is always the fastest only Vettel can match him to an extent. Kimi is/was the Fastest F1 driver. He likes on the edge stuff so he's gone to rally for more thrills.

I dont think it was a mistake join for ferrari. The reason why he left McLaren was that he couldnt win championship on that team cos the car fking always blew everyting. 2007 he finally got a capable car and won the title. Besides now that he kicked out he made really nice moneys.. xd

The cars in Formula 1 are extremely optimized to go as fast as they possibly can. Literally anything can influence lap times, i.e. fuel load, how warm the tires are, even 1-2 mm rise or lowering of the suspension. The reason why some teams do better than others is because they have better resources to develop and test their cars--to go faster of course.
