Instead of a waterfall defense system for your door, why not make a waterfall defense system for a fence? Have the water push zombies and monsters down and have it work like a delivery system to deliver gun powder from creepers to you for trying to get into your house. Same thing applies to lava and cactus fences, but lava and cactus fence have high chance to destroy the items along with the monsters.
