  • where can i get this from

  • I think Goliath is better. I love it and it has so much stuff in it.

  • WHEN IT COMES TO SYMPHONIC AND HORNS EAST WEST COLOSSUS IS MUCH BETTER THAN A MOTIF OR PHANTOM BUT I DID NOTICE THAT MOTIF AND PHANTOM HAD BETTER SYNTHS BUT AS FOR SYMPHONIC AND CHOIRS AND HORNS AND TRUMPETS THINGS LIKE THAT I BELIEVE COLOSSUS SOUNDS MUCH RICHER.........COLOSSUS IS LIKE A BUILT VIRTUAL WORKSTATION LIKE A YAMAHA MOTIF OR ROLAND PHANTOM

  • @CRAZYBOY1984777 is there legato in colossus? cant find it... its for my stringtransitions

  • @vetodnb if u use abelton for it, u can set an effect for legato before the synth :)

  • Wrong, Collosus instrument players, are awsome!! heeheeee

    and not Collosus is awsome????heheheheheheheh

  • Haha! I see we aren't lacking the usual content of smart-assed comments here, either. And I thought that stuff was exclusive to the geek pages and over on the Ernie Ball forum. Ahhh. Refreshing!

I think I'll refrain from asking questions here since nobody wants to know what system I'm running with what anyway, right?

Nice sounding stuff, though. I'm looking forward to trying it out -even if I am but a lowly drummer/guitarist in a humble Sonar 7 Producer home studio.

  • Colossus is awsome!

  • Hey, is that compatible with VISTA 64 BIT? Please :/

  • Yes it is, but it will only run as a 32-bit VST.

  • And what is the difference?

  • I'm not sure, but you can't use all your RAM I guess.

I read somewhere that the application could only use 2GB with 32-bit VSTs, but it may be wrong.

Anyway, Colossus works just fine for me with 4GB.

  • Oh, so I guess I'll have no problem with 6GB RAM. Ok :) thank you very much for info

  • I read on another comment in another thread on youtube that normally windows XP and vista (32 bit versions) normally can only use about 3 to 4 gig. However, each application on it's own can run can use only 2 Gig. There is a workaround to this , where you have to change a few settings in the boot.ini or something. I will look it up.he said that I should do a search for "3GB switch boot.ini" in google, and then it should pop up how to do it. maybe a good idea for all 32 bit users. more=better

  • If you buy the new version of it (called goliath) from them, you will get a new interface (so different engine and look), but the same sounds. That version (and not this one in the video with the blue kontakt player/engine) is 64 bit compatible, just like all their PLAY editions of thier older stuff.

by the way, "PLAY" is the name of their new (own) engine/user interface

  • Thanks a lot!

  • Wait... does that mean all EWQL programs which use kontakt only work in 32bit? But I guess in 64bit windows you'll have more RAM anyway, seeing as what remainder you get in 32bit includes graphic RAM. What happens if you use 2 EWQL vsts instead of one? Better use of RAM?

  • I assume it will use more RAM, if everything except the VSTI is 64 (so meaning you have alot of ram (more than 4), an operating system that is 64 etc. ..but not sure.

However, colossus works pretty well for me too on a 32 system. If you use orchestra gold, however,it seems to need alot more resources. The things that especially contribute alot when it comes to processing power seem to be putting VST effects on BIG virtual instruments Like colossus. Without much VST effects on colussus it though.

  • And very important are the instruments you use. Like a piano on colussus 'eats' about 10 times the amount of resources that other VSTI's use. You can simply see this by the size on the Kontakt screen. Also: the faster they load, the lighter they are. So just not adding too much piano's can help out alot and save resources...but all that pretty much speaks for itself

  • Hmm I use gold XP and I never get any dropouts, even with over 15 instruments at once, compared to plugins like Nexus or Waves effects it's nothixcng. I usually don't exceed 2GB of RAM per each instance of EWQL so I dunno, it might work fine in 64bit if my DAW recognizes more RAM.

  • how did you set your settings? do you use that ramsaving streaming thing? And your soundcard latecy? you set it on 512, 1024 etc?

  • I use DFD (direct from disk), Asio4All @ 11ms, any EWQL settings are at default. I've always used a quad core CPU for EW stuff, never peaked with AMD 9500 and corei7.

  • Oh and I for the record you guys were right, it fits any style of play. Amazing realism with all the different articulations.

  • just because you cant relate doesn't mean it sucks. That would be like saying Rock sucked 50 years ago when it first got put on or Jazz before that.

  • HIP HOP production and Colosus. will they meld?????????

  • Of course!!!!!!!!!

  • i think so, seeing as how dr dre used it to make the new eminem album lol

  • Cool tune, but what is that clicking sound that is constantly in it?

  • lovely sounds

  • can u make a tutorial on how to install theses god damn library sounds " "!!!! shit is killin me"

  • just go to the Native Instruments website and look up the Tutorials...they have them and you can see exactly what to press and what to do to become a Jeti Master :)

  • lol jedi master

  • "!!!! shit is killin me"

    that's some funny stuff!

actually, excepting the first bit, the rest doesn't sound so good. but East West is extraordinary - particularly the Quantum Leap stuff (Symph, Choir, Passion, Gypsy, Ministry...) WOW!

  • wat is colossus main prepose

  • multitimbral

  • Colossus has great sounds (the violin, cellos, etc are killer) but the fact that it is only 8-part multitimbral and that it has a crap manual,is really a bummer

  • WAT? R U SERIOUS?? I JUST GOT THIS THING its so damn hard to install

  • How does it run? I might get this sometime when I get my external drive hooked up.

  • this is a goof up between the hard disk making co's and these vst cos'...lol

  • i have this and i gotta say, the patches on this thing feel more like glorified midi patches than all its hyped up to be. it does have a few good things about it though..

  • i wanna understand something about that program: can i import midi files to make them play as real instruments and then making mp3 files? sorry for my bad english!

  • you need a sequencer like cubase or sonar to import midi files.
