No Offence but Vegemite was made by Aussies who wanted a cheep substitute to Marmite which had already been around for about 20 years They usually don't like Marmite because Marmite has a much stronger flavour and they use too much!
Which one is best is a matter of taste and national pride in both the UK and Australia but your statement is historically incorrect.
Iv never tried NZ Marmite but I have tasted both British Marmite and Aussie Vegemite and can tell you that UK Marmite is about 4 times as strong at least to Vegemite, That doesn't necessarily make it better but it is a fact that is widely known in both countries. The NZ Marmite is totally tasteless compared to the original UK Marmite. I like to keep both the UK Marmite and Vegemite in the cupboard because both have a unique taste, FYI Because of the NZ product, the UK Marmite is sold in Austalia as 'Our Mate' by Unilever UK.
Am afraid I cannot tell the differnece between the two. Couldn't believe it when I saw my fellow impoverished students making a cup of soup with just this stuff and hot water. It tasted... interesting, as the Queen would say.
