  • Marty friedman has 14 accounts.

  • Another good piece of advice is to use the Jazz picks (smaller and poitier). They improve your control and precision.

Try the Dunlop Tortex Jazz picks.

  • I THINK THE SECOND WAY IS BETTER COZ THE PICK SLOWLY LOSES DOWN ON HE FIRST METHOD

  • ur way to good man....

  • tnks a lot man.

  • you sounds like chinese dude. :D

  • really a 9min video on how to hold a guitar pick.... its like a 9min video on how to hold a pencil....-_- you hold it however it feels good for you.

  • LOL guitar strings ! but anyway awesome lesson ! TY !

  • hey I just started guitar 2day and u helped alot thx soooo much

  • it's cool .. but ... there is no wrong way to hold a pick almost.. everybody are doing what seem to work.

there are like 3-4 kinds to hold a pick..not mentioning the other fingers.

  • i dont think holding the pick with three finges is wrong i do that and it is much easier i think you should hold it the way you want and if someone thinks its wrong then thats their problem

  • THANK YOU SIR YOUR AWESOME!

  • you only show down strum

    never show up strum

I think people usually lose their pick when up strum

you scared u cant handle it ?

  • @DenniswaSo in some song you have to strum up.....

  • wow you're awesome thanks a lot :)

  • 9:17 minutes wasted of my life watchin' this stupid ass video.

  • I've been playing guitar for about 4 years now, and I feel like I have terrible picking technique. I hold the pick with my index, middle, and thumb. My private guitar instructor doesn't seem to mind, but whenever I see that technique with anyone else on YouTube, there's always someone commenting saying "No! That's wrong! You can't hold it with 3 fingers!" but when I hold it with just 2, I can't palm mute, and I can't keep ahold of the pick no matter how hard I squeeze my fingers together. Help/

  • @3Musical6s SAME but i jus started yesterday

  • ty so much :3

  • @BearxHugx No probs. Happy "guitaring"

  • hah!! xD

  • man whats better the second techinique or the 1st technique

  • @guitarzhero21 Hi guitarzhero21, for me i found that when i do a lot of strumming with the 1st tech my wrist gets a bit more tired out, i suppose because i have the angle my wrist/hands more as compare to the 2nd tech. Whereas with the 2nd tech, i feel more natural or egronomical in terms of how my hand is positioned for strummings. Other then that, i can't tell which is better :)

  • @makingmuzikdotcom the 2nd technique is way easier to pick faster

  • Hi man.

I just want to tell you that you helped me a lot.

I've switched from 2nd to 1st tech and it's feels much better...all the instructors are forcing (in most cases even not showin 1st tech) 2nd tech but it's different for each hand.

    Anyway, tnx and keep going.

  • @ReverendBizarre123 Hi ReverendBizzare123, that's quite a cool nickname you got there. Thanks for the comment. Hope you are rocking out awesomely on the guitar :)

  • Does it matter if your pick is not exactly pointing downwards? When i hold it the pick its on its side a little.

  • @1994fishcake Hi 1994fishcake, i don't see it as a problem when it's on its side a little. I think what i'm trying to illustrate in the video is a starting point.

  • Hi, I've been playing for about a year and a half ...

I used to hold the guitar pick with three fingers, but I decided to keep it two fingers as in your video.. but i have problem, its difficult to muting.. It seems unnatural to me...

need help, really (btw sry for my wrong en) thanks

  • @SpikerCZ Hi SpikerCZ, learning something new or changing to something else other that what you are used to is not easy. For starters, holding the pick with two fingers is not the "only" way to strum the guitar, but if you really want to learn in, take your time to adapt, keep at it and you'll see your progress :) I didn't understand the "its difficult to muting" part, if you could elaborate, maybe i could help more

  • yes, i don't exert enough energy and i find that after about 20 strums the pick has either fallen out of my hand or turned 90 degrees onto it's side. :) thanks for the tips!

  • @HIFKhockey90 Yeah, happens to be me when i was learning to strum. Glad it help :)

  • Oh nevermind, it's not the same pick... Well, I don't know what type of music you play, but for tremolo-picking (more in metal genre), I cover about 80 % of the pick, so it makes it easier to tremolo/shred

  • @CreeperDeath It's not Jim Dunlop, but some generic brand .73mm. You are right, for shredding or soloing on the guitar, it's a better technique to cover more ground on the pick, or another way is to use a thicker pick.

  • Jim Dunlop .60 mm ? I USE THE SAME :D !
