did they really come in these flashy colors? i know they came in red and grey, but i must say that bright yellow and blue sure does look nice! its eye grabbing!
Probably not. I take a lot of liberty in the colors I choose, mostly so they do exactly what your comment implies. At the shows, I want them to get lots of attention, and these colors seem to do the trick.
what holds on the pulley and fly wheel? mine is loose and i want to know if its missing something? i also think mine is siezed. i havent had time to really look it over good though.
Pretty standard arrangement. The flywheel slides onto the tapered crankshaft, and a nut holds the starting pulley against the flywheel. A key in a keyway in the crankshaft keeps the flywheel in alignment. This engine has the "early" magneto, where the flywheel carries along a separate communicator containing the permanent magnets that energizes the coil. I needed to replace the coil on this engine, as the original had failed.
thanks. mine is missing parts then. the starter cup appears to thread onto the shaft. but i only will get to 3/4" away from the flywheel. their is no nut, but i might have one that works. it does appear to be siezed, but i dont know how bad. their is no spark plug and i can see seeds in the cyl.
I have some literature that gives the beginning build dates for many of the early Clinton models. The 700A was built, starting in 1946, and within a year ot teo they had switched from the arrowhead tag to the aluminum badge placed the cylinder shield. I believe that only the earliest Clintons have the arrowhead badge. Notice that my 1948 Clinton vertical has the aluminum plate on the cylinder shield.
i see thanks! ill have to bring mine home. its at my grandmothers currently! thats where i have found a good chunk of engines! i have gotten a couple running! like my model 8 briggs and my 1941 wi briggs! but i think my clinton may be the same as yours im not positive ill have to look! ill make a vid when i get it! i just videoed my oddball k-90 kohler and my grey clinton today. ill upload in the morning! feel free to search my channel, i have lots of engines!

it's just like the Lauson RSC 591

This Clinton has a larger bore, giving it 2 HP. The Lauson, with a smaller bore develops only 1 HP.
