Just a tip if you don't know... when picking up a gun, shield, grenade or class mod, don't hold square(ps3) or x(xbox360) if you dont want it to be auto-equipped. Just press it to just pick it up without equipping it.

Please use your Special Ability as much as you can. It recharges about once a minute so it comes back fast. And it helps a lot.

Keep in mind that he has a messed up controller. His fighting is fine IMO but his loot strategy could use work. (selling sniper rifles which are very useful)

as you progress the Quests and kills will level you up, then theyl give you harder quests, but you will be the same level as the mobs.

no it doesn't. It's just that he holds "x" and that automatically equips the gun. If you just pick it up it won't automatically equip it; he is holding "x" to pick up all ammo and money at once and not individually which is nice.
