  • rightnow me and a secret group are working on porting firefox to amiga 4.0/4.1 and then we are going to port to other amiga projects like morph and aros.

  • @robdun:

oh, wow, this is gonna make some AROS people really excited :-) ... but I won't tell them until it's more or less official. ;-) well, hurry up, OWB is doing really fine! ;-)

    thanks for commenting,

    regards,

    ro

  • Hey Roman! People on Aros-exec is waiting for part 3, and me too! Come on :)

  • lol, thanks for the support. :-)

people have said part 2 looks boring.

expect something spectacular for part 3.

  • Just in my opinion i like an OS that is terminal driven, not so much GUI but i do like my OS to look very clean and stylish almost sci-fi. Morph OS did do that but for what im expecting there is none on the market. :(

  • I want you to talk about OWB port and janus-uae: please also mention the icaros desktop (new name for VmWAROS) and dont stop because some silly comment: i wanted to take your video as example on SCALE but was unable to get sound to work properly on my machine.

  • Well, AROS looks more and more like GNOME. Even most of the software is taken from Linux. Yes, there are bounties, but most of them are being assigned and then silently abandoned. The initial goal (m68k AmigaOS replacement) was abandoned also - you can't just boot AROS on Amiga/UAE. And this always cluttered AROS LiveCD with hundreds of applications doing nothing more than displaying something strange. Many even placed few times on a CD... Sadly, I don't think this system is quickly evolving :(

  • I agree with you that this OS needs more (open source) applications tailored for it and not just Linux ports. And I will say that m68k porting would be extremely useful for boards like the Minimig and especially the Natami. AROS has come a long way, but the battle is far from over. In fact, I would say it's just begun. The developers are really going to need to step it up this time and really start recruiting developers, making sure everything works, and seeing bounties through to completion.
