@andr1984 I usually pop in from time to time since I have to pay $15. (Would EVENTUALLY like to hit 220 but I could never find groups) AO will always have a special place in my heart that will never leave. The community is amazing on this MMO.
@Vilanx same here :) i have a 220 on rk1 clan advy but i pop up now and then on my froob acc, my advy is named Zartifily might be back once again to play some ^^, this game has same as you placed a never ending place in my heart xD if im ever back with the 220 it would be fun to help you lvl up to 220.
It's nice to see real anarchy armor, theese days AO is populated by troxes in pink tutu's. Just don't feel like Anarchy any more. Als new Xan symbiants gave order to gear of players. Same realy, SL symbiants where fun to tweak in @ 218-220, also leveling which i found fun is stripped away. Leveling is just to easy and now focus falls on gear grinding :D. Maybe pvp is improved with BS, but ... i don't know. gimme Anarchy back :P

Very disappointingly I think I tried every single mmo since AO but none came as close as what it was to play AO... have you found anything?.. even though there is not as much space for mmos in my life as there used to be at the time, I still feel like going back to this feeling.. was really great

I played it for a little while, but got sick of it after less than a year. AO I played for like 5 years... lol. I really miss what the game USED to be... pre-shadowlands... Once Shadowlands came out, it kind of started going downhill for me :(. Oh well... in either case I had a lot of fun playing it... nice to see some people are still alive! :D

Did you know that... After I got Stomper2000 back from being perma banned... Matt (Ham) stole all of the gear and creds from him and the other chars on that acct, and sold it on the forums, before he quit the game.
Pretty hilarious... lol. That kind of did me in though. I was never able to come back from that. It put the nail in my AO coffin... lol. Matt always had my login info. I had his too, but he changed it when he stole my stuff.
Hey thanks Viro, this video brought back intense memories. I remember you and almost everyone who commented.. I felt during the video how it was to "log in AO" back in the day. A true unique feeling that affected all the players, or at least those who started in 2001-2002.
The first few years were the best, when MMOs were still very new and had nice communities.

My old computer (Windows XP) got messed up, I bought a nice New Windows Vista.. It couldent run it.. I actually had a tear run down my cheek, I missed Anarchy too much! O_o But now I'm back and I got a new windows 7 computer ^^

Man... my favorite times in AO were pre-SL... grinding it out to 200 doing Broken Shores missions.... Everyone standing ontop the roof of that shop in the center of Newland City looking to group... man.. those were the days.
was nice remembering some of the bugs (I remember the glitch at 4:18 very well), the rushes as each dungeon opened, newland lagfests, first yalm, how everyone had the same primus coats at higher levels...
we barely/never talked - I was more of a pvp guy than the partying/raiding/pve type, I hung out with skymarshal, spydervenom, syrah... - but I do remember you as the first 200 neut on rk1... anyways, peace

@Vilanx Ahh, the old Acambot days :) I loved it when I finally got geared enough to main-tank for the raids. Being the very first Neutral to tank EFP bosses / Mercs pre-SL was the highlight of my career.
Its really too bad AO community is no more, and i do not understand why funcom does not go for AO 2, as it would be a HUGE SUCCESS compared to AoC flop, i played AO for 5 years since up untill wow eu release, first atrox doc to hit 200 ;P

Awsome mmporg began play it around 2004 quited it around 2008 but still have it and online now and then :) shame many left, was fun with raids and events, 5 stars from a pretty old rk 1 player.

Heh, I used to play in 05 - 08, level 130 fixer with (GA3 ;)), was a good game, just got a bit boring, after grinding a lot. But what about this engine update? Whats that all about.
Funcom is working on upgrading the graphics of the game. The previews look awesome, a huge step up. They plan on finishing this year and putting it ingame.

AO is far from dying. Their income is as stable now as years ago, they need to update the game and know it. They are in the process now and what results will be a game that looks brand new but has 8 years of content and polish. Personally I cant wait to see the new game.
yeah it kinda does... there are two factions in the game, OMNI tek (suckers from an opressive company that think they own the f'n planet) and the clans (rebels that can't stand the opression by omni tek). There are also the neutrals. But you are right, the game isn't based mainly in anarchy...
You never really recognize the "good old days" until years later. The game still rocks. People will be looking back at 2009 in a couple years calling these the good old days...

Wow. AWSOME vid. Those were the days. It seems the beginning days of an MMO are its greatest, even when flawed with bugs and the like. After awhile it becomes a grindfest to max level with overpowered equipment. I shall miss thee, old-AO.
what about the starting ground of tir? now its froob island, its cool. but i have alot of nostalgia from the Tir starting area, and me and a friend ran out through the huge Tir city maze to finally reach out to the beautiful Tir landscape. ill never forget it
My GOD that was nostalgic. Those were great times. Especially proud that I actually lost count of the number of my parties you screenied. Also caught some original old-school GSP DJ's in there, such as "Riakoo" and our still-current webmaster Xtrophic. Those were some gorram great parties. ;)
Noted that it took a good 2 years of playing to get to lvl 200. Those were the days though...(played from launch also but not beta). Looks like you had a lot of fun. I wish there was more of this these days, although now everything is just do this to get this item, do that to get that item, =be more uber.
your sooo right, i couldnt get into this game, THO it looked and played well....just not enough people playin and seemed empty everywhere....even where there were people.

Softtouch here. I played AO from Beta 4 and first saw Viro when he was 90 in Broken Shores.
Viro was the one that all Neutrals were following. I was one of the original Independent Rubikans (IR's in Viro's vid are Lorepan and Nealandbob and the screenie of one of our meetings showed Silenna the first IR leader)and we were very proud that we lured Viro in to our organization. He was only with us a short time because he felt as an Adventurer he should be free to wander around.
Thanks dude! I didn't realize I had such an impact on the neutrals :). I'm glad I've stuck with them and still am. I'm really happy that the Neutrals grew into such an amazing community. Glad to see an old face :)
I am a Neutral Adventurer and proud of it. (though sometimes I wished I pick Enforcer heh)The Neutral side can be fun, but you don't recieve certain benefits of picking sides like mission tokens or awsome shadowlands weapons/buffs. One plus is you can move in almost ANY city and shop any any player shop
To many memories in this game! Probably one of the best MMO's out there. I mostly remember everything in this video, and I was hoping you would of had a picture of FT with all the people hanging out. I miss those FT days.
If you are able to use your brain for more than 2 seconds and are not affraid of a (very) steep learning curve, you will freakin' love this game. Thank you for sharing those screenshots, those were the best days for sure.
wow i just started playing a couple weeks ago. it looks like FC messed up somehow and lost alot of their fans. because someone said there was a party a baboons last night, and there were 3 people. yippe. party.
Man 2001 was when i started playing. I miss that old gui. And omni enter.1 was always so full of players. The clubs were always full on weekends. Those were really the best of times with AO. Really cool older players that would always help you out. It just seems like mmo's these days are full of punks. My favorite time for online gaming.

I played WoW at midnight launch and was a Human Rogue on Mannoroth named Icon. I thoroughly enjoyed it until TBC came out and even though I have resubscribed here and there, haven't played it competitively since.
AO just isn't the same. Re-upped a few times, but never played < an hour.
@scott71785 Also, I gave FC another chance with AoC. Figured they'd never let their launch go as poorly as AO. And while it wasn't as bad, it was still crappy. 10 of us pre-ordered to get early access, only 3 were alllowed in. Anyways, that is kind of the long of the short on why I never played. There was nothing like AO.

Man this brings bag memories Viro! I remember you! You may remember me. I was Stomper2000... Omni Enforcer... I was the lead tank for Midnight Reveries back in the DAY man... I tanked the first successful Ian Warr kill :]
Anyway, this brought back some serious nostalgia... I'm going to have to fire up a fr00b account to see if I want to go back to the game.

@Vilanx Ahh, the old Acambot days :) I loved it when I finally got geared enough to main-tank for the raids. Being the very first Neutral to tank EFP bosses / Mercs pre-SL was the highlight of my career.

Its really too bad AO community is no more, and i do not understand why funcom does not go for AO 2, as it would be a HUGE SUCCESS compared to AoC flop, i played AO for 5 years since up untill wow eu release, first atrox doc to hit 200 ;P

Anarchy online IS the best MMO. Fuck those who say it "was" the best. World of warcraft and its clones are nothing in comparison. AO is the best.

Awsome mmporg began play it around 2004 quited it around 2008 but still have it and online now and then :) shame many left, was fun with raids and events, 5 stars from a pretty old rk 1 player.

Heh, I used to play in 05 - 08, level 130 fixer with (GA3 ;)), was a good game, just got a bit boring, after grinding a lot. But what about this engine update? Whats that all about.

Funcom is working on upgrading the graphics of the game. The previews look awesome, a huge step up. They plan on finishing this year and putting it ingame.

AO is far from dying. Their income is as stable now as years ago, they need to update the game and know it. They are in the process now and what results will be a game that looks brand new but has 8 years of content and polish. Personally I cant wait to see the new game.

yeah it kinda does... there are two factions in the game, OMNI tek (suckers from an opressive company that think they own the f'n planet) and the clans (rebels that can't stand the opression by omni tek). There are also the neutrals. But you are right, the game isn't based mainly in anarchy...

Wow man, this brought back so many great and awesome memories :D I wish I could have done a video like this, but I lost my drive with all my info on it. I played on RK1 also around that time, I also remember the guy saying he played Stromm. Maybe you guys might know me? I played a soldier named Kenshinx. I used to be in Midnight Reveries, and left to form Hells Heroes with a few others :D Wow this was an awesome memory. I played during HS also, and AO was my first and fav MMO! Long Live AO!!!

Not as often as I used to. when these shots were taken, I just finished 10th grade so I had ALOT of time :). Fast forward 8 years and I don't have as much free time anymore lol. I still wanna hit 220 some day :)
I still go on when I can. This game still has a special spot in me and I don't ever wanna see this game expire. I never been involved in such an amazing community and memories this game produced.

Well hey maybe we Can play sometime... my main may be a lvl 66 advy but thats because i couldn't redownload AO but still... I played in 2001.... the 11 month free trial also screwed me over so... i don't have that account anymore, now i have all the expansions and im happy ^ ^ anyway hope you have a good time playing...(to all AO players), if you ever want to lvl send me a tell Battleblader, ill probably play my enfo or my doc more so Drblader, Enfoblader...

hehe I remember me and a friend tried to make it from Tir to Newland on foot (as lvl 5 or something). Before someone asked us what the hell we were doing and instructed us to use whompas.

Wow. AWSOME vid. Those were the days. It seems the beginning days of an MMO are its greatest, even when flawed with bugs and the like. After awhile it becomes a grindfest to max level with overpowered equipment. I shall miss thee, old-AO.

what about the starting ground of tir? now its froob island, its cool. but i have alot of nostalgia from the Tir starting area, and me and a friend ran out through the huge Tir city maze to finally reach out to the beautiful Tir landscape. ill never forget it

My GOD that was nostalgic. Those were great times. Especially proud that I actually lost count of the number of my parties you screenied. Also caught some original old-school GSP DJ's in there, such as "Riakoo" and our still-current webmaster Xtrophic. Those were some gorram great parties. ;)

Noted that it took a good 2 years of playing to get to lvl 200. Those were the days though...(played from launch also but not beta). Looks like you had a lot of fun. I wish there was more of this these days, although now everything is just do this to get this item, do that to get that item, =be more uber.

Softtouch here. I played AO from Beta 4 and first saw Viro when he was 90 in Broken Shores.
Viro was the one that all Neutrals were following. I was one of the original Independent Rubikans (IR's in Viro's vid are Lorepan and Nealandbob and the screenie of one of our meetings showed Silenna the first IR leader)and we were very proud that we lured Viro in to our organization. He was only with us a short time because he felt as an Adventurer he should be free to wander around.

I am a Neutral Adventurer and proud of it. (though sometimes I wished I pick Enforcer heh)The Neutral side can be fun, but you don't recieve certain benefits of picking sides like mission tokens or awsome shadowlands weapons/buffs. One plus is you can move in almost ANY city and shop any any player shop

Man 2001 was when i started playing. I miss that old gui. And omni enter.1 was always so full of players. The clubs were always full on weekends. Those were really the best of times with AO. Really cool older players that would always help you out. It just seems like mmo's these days are full of punks. My favorite time for online gaming.

man, i used to play this 2001-2003, shadowlands screwed it up for me... i return every so often to level as much as I can "classic" style... NW, SE pipes, SW, NW mines... and that bastard lifebleed and sometimes Chaos Minion lol :(

And rk1 or rk2 ppl it does not matter they play the same game only they can't meet that's sad, and events are pretty low now halloween was k but Funcom and the Gm/ARKs should do much more event and even the players. Nostalgia. I played AO for years and years, left for WoW, been there since launch night. I also played AO since launch until that time. My ingame name is the same on here, played on RK1, was an agent. Not sure if I ever met you, probably, but I recognized many from your slide show, and ofc Nealandbob. Thanks for the video.

@scott71785 Hey Stomper, I remember you. :) I remember...years ago...you connected to some vent server I was on, it was insane. I think you said like one thing and dc'd. Never saw you again, I could be mistaken.
I played WoW at midnight launch and was a Human Rogue on Mannoroth named Icon. I thoroughly enjoyed it until TBC came out and even though I have resubscribed here and there, haven't played it competitively since.
AO just isn't the same. Re-upped a few times, but never played < an hour.

@scott71785 Also, I gave FC another chance with AoC. Figured they'd never let their launch go as poorly as AO. And while it wasn't as bad, it was still crappy. 10 of us pre-ordered to get early access, only 3 were alllowed in. Anyways, that is kind of the long of the short on why I never played. There was nothing like AO.
I still talk to Medoctor, twinkmeee, hoer, methodikal, Nothinman/Chik(they're married,twins inc) and I am still a community member of Legion.

Yeah I played WoW quite a bit, and too for the most part quit after Burning Crusade... Now I just play every now and then... constantly deactivating, and reactivating my account whenever I get the urge to play... lol
