We are not and never were a Democracy you bunch of useful idiots. We are a Republic!
A bunch of whiners that are blaming everyone else for their problems. Disgusting. Where has my America gone? Being destroyed by Marxist professors destroying the young minds of American youth.
didnt russia fall into communisim cause the gov got the people to belive the big banks and rich where killing there country, and the people revolted? I dont like the way things are in america right now either but i dont want to throw out are constitution and turn america into north korea. so instead of socialisim why not try for less gov intrusion in are lives bet it would help america
@kskorcz a socialist system doesnt necessarily equate to just "throwing out the constitution".It means we need to critique it and rewrite it to suit the needs of ALL people, not just rich white male slave-owners.its an obsolete document, and while some of it may still apply pretty well to the present, other stuff clearly needs to be fixed and added and taken out. When it was written the founding fathers clearly never envisioned a country owned by huge corporations masquerading as "people".
Tuition too high? Thank Uncle Sam and protest at the universities. Why not protest at the universities against the high tuition? Uncle Sugar makes loans easy to get and the universities take advantage by increasing tuition through the roof. To attract students, they offer climbing walls, fancy accommodations, freebies of all kinds that people 20 years ago didn't get and didn't feel entitled too. Wake up.
I want to bring the fight to these assholes. Want cheaper college? Close the fucking mexican border and stop giving "free" college to illegals. You're increased tution pays for illegal education. You're increased medical bills pay for illegal immigrant er visits. But you're right...fuck America. Socialist governments are always so open to protests. Socialism loves free speech and a free press. And of course, socialism wants you to be armed so you can defend yourself from tyrany. NOT
You know, if people would have let the market work like it's SUPPOSED to, this whole occupy wall street garbage wouldn't even be happening. Nothing is too big to fail! Big banks included! But no, we had to start bailing people out. Every person out protesting and every politician needs a lesson in economics 101. The govt needs to keep it's hands off our money and OUT of business to allow US to control the market by voting with our dollars.
Voting with your dollars? You mean, like Wall Street does now? Or do you mean plain bribery? Don't make me laugh. Corporatocracy is exactly what has killed America. The median income in the US is now just above the poverty line, thanks to corporate dominance of the government and the media, which allows them to do whatever they want.
@commissarusa You totally misunderstood my comment. People/organizations (including corporations and unions alike) w/ money and power need to stay OUT of government and the government needs to stay OUT of the market. "Voting with our dollars" means that WE, the people, decide what businesses succeed and fail based on our patronage ("nothing is too big to fail"). Taxpayers shouldn't be forced by their govt to bailout a company's bad decisions. I contend: No bailouts=no Occupy Wall Street.
Fair enough. But it's really naive to expect the rich to sign a truce with the government and make everything better. The only way these people stay on top is through dominance of the media, dominance of the workplace, and dominance of the government. And since they are the only ones who still have enough control over society to make a difference, the system will stay the same unless we overthrow them.
@commissarusa I don't recall ever expecting the rich to sign a truce with the govt. I'm just saying what I think should be done. Free the market and keep corporate $ out of the govt and THEN we'll start seeing positive change. REAL liberty occurs when the federal govt has less control. Not anarchy, but let's have a govt that operates as the Founding Fathers intended it to be. A fair/equal shot for everyone. Not a guarantee like the protesters want and no special representation because of wealth.
@oldschoolgreentube, you're at odds with @GlobalEquities, despite sharing a rightist view. You say people kill themselves to get to the USA, yet both ya denote these protesters aren't willing to work here for cheap, which is what others overseas do regardless.. Can't have it both ways. Many come here cuz of the misery imposed by foreign multinationals, the IMF,WB,wars,Hollywood, and pacts like NAFTA.
The GDP per capita in the U.S. and W. Europe is much higher than those hard-working & resource countries, you know why? Do W. Europeans and Japanese wanna come here to stay? The rate of entrepreneurship among immigrants in the USA is higher than natives, yet overall they're no way near in wealth as Whites. 'Why?' 'How to' account for the Southern Black migration to Northern states from 1910-70 in the U.S.?
How would you scribblers explain today's high unemployment as opposed to the not too distant past? All of a sudden people become that lazy? It's sad when even a job doesn't guarantee a decent living, health-care, or raising a family. @WTFukinshit, the imperialist U.S. gov doesn't respect freedom of assembly when it bombs weddings, picnics, etc. in Afghanistan, Pakistan, or when it bombed the MOVE group in Philadelphia 1985, Waco 1993...
"Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."
Who asked you to drop out of high school and then complain you cannot get a well paying job. Who asked you to major in Underwater Basket Weaving and then complain nobody is hiring you. A Job is not something you are just entitled you. It is something you have to compete for. There is a pool of jobs and you compete for those and you get the best one you can. If you want a better one, get more skills. A Job represents WORK, that somebody is willing to PAY to get done.
These are not intelligent young people making good points. They are spoiled brats who won't get jobs. Yeah yeah I know, there are no jobs out there. Well at least none they are willing to do. If life is so bad here in the USA why do so many people risk so much to come here, and once here are willing to anything to stay?
I wonder if the socialist government they propose will protect their right to assemble and speak against it. I wonder if it will protect their rights to the fruits of their labor. I wonder if they will suceed at taking care of the starving masses where similar socialist governments have failed. I wonder how many will have to die for them to bring a new form of hell upon us.
@WTFukinshit I think you are confusing socialism with Bolshevism....Let's remember that capitalist governments have violated those rights. Capitalist America after all tolerated lynchings and the suppression of constitutional rights for black people, who basically experienced America as a totalitarian regime.
Where are the SEP editorial board members? They posted the video. Why don't they counter some of the inane points being made by the likes of GlobalEquities.
I would imagine they're busy being journalists and writing articles for the World Socialist Website, a better use of their time than answering comments on Youtube, in my opinion.
Is that the official line? I agree they do very valuable work and I read the WSWS every day. But I can't be the only person who would like to see them engage more actively with their opponents.
I dont agree with Socialism. However, we need a true system of capitalism, where the banks and the big corporations are not partners with the government. How can big business get a govt handout and become stronger when %99 of the ppl are suffering?
Intelligent young people speaking their minds and making good points. This is what democracy is all about. And for the some of the previous posters: You would give a better impression of yourself if you clearly articulated your position rather then engage in name calling. It just makes you look stupid.
People in many countries around the world, work twice as hard, in terrible conditions, with more taxes and more corruption and save more money than the real life characters in this sob story.
Imagine if all these thousands of people weren't protesting, but starting businesses and employing each other, they would be at home on the couch.
Were was this outrage when the economy was rolling right along.
That being said, I hope good things come out of this.
People blaming the w.street traders for everything need to get a clue. If it wasn't for our gov policies racking up massive debts and devaluing our currency, we could actually SAVE for the future with sound, debt free $. Instead we are forced to act as speculators in the stock market, where most of us don't belong, just to try and break even or keep up with inflation. It's your centrally planned economy, money printing "Federal" Reserve, and overbearing fed government, that have robbed us blind
Hopefully they will all see the light and join the president's re-election campaign. If the Republicans would just pass the jobs bill, this problem would be solved.

What our country does guarantee is inalienable HUMAN RIGHTS. Those are in place, Hard truth is; you are worth what you are worth in the marketplace. "Protesting" will not change that. If you have real skills; you can succeed (with hard work and energy) If you don't have skills; get 'em

By the way; that Bank it's not even Federal. It's a Private Bank using that Name FEDERAL to give the powerful resonance of some Authority to intimidate and Bamboozle all for their benefit..
@Longlivethe4th i wonder if you know what capital means? Capitalism is everywhere in the world. and no; they did not failed, nothing happens by accident.
@cazzo53 let's admit : so the private juggernaut that is the FED decided to create a dramatic recession for the private profit of a handfull of billionnaires : best solution imho is placing it under democratic control, without paying compensations to its owners.
"capitalism" is when privately owned capital is dominating the economy, either directly or because the political system is designed in a way that makes governements serve the will of capitalists rather than of the majority of people
