Tribute to 205... ! This has to be 205GTi swapped with 2.0L T16 from 405T16. Few years ago I was thinking that it's fake, now I know it's not possible there was bowden used to power speedo... It's quite dangerous to spin your wheels when going 100mph ;-) Congrats. Really nice!
You lot make me laugh, everybody is so quick to jump down each others throats. Its easy see when you wheelspin in gear at lets say 6000rpm your speedo will read the speed you would be doing at 6000rpm under traction, when you disengage the clutch to up-shift the wheels stop spinning and can give a actual speed. The speedo cant even be powered by an electric signal like a rev counter because the speedo is spun by a cable and lastly T16 = any TURBO 16valve XU engine.

Still a bit unsure about the video but back in the day i owned a Peugeot 205 1.9 with the Turbo Technics conversion on it and that was only pushing out about 175-180 when new and that was a bit of a handfull considering the car weighed about as much as a crisp packet.
I'd say anything that small with 300 BHP lacking most of the technology thats available nowdays would probally spin up the wheels at some silly speeds plus as the video points out it was filmed on a damp track.
nice vid, dont know what all the bickering on here is about, the reason the speedo keep jumping around is purely down to wheel spin as the speedo is connected directly to the drive shafts, My pug 205 Gti does exactly the same but Im running nearer 350bhp and it will happily spin up in 3rd gear in the dry but in the wet it will spin in every single gear! has a tendancy to eat drive shafts though.
I think all the little kids on here commenting that it's fake have obviously never drove a high powered car and should just stick to there mums 1.2 punto's and such! The reason the speedo is all over the place is because the car is so powerful it breaks traction even at high speeds causing the wheels to spin and the speed rating to go crazy. My car does the same even up into 4th gear in the wet but not quite to the extent of this car. Looks like an animal.

yup this guy is right. most speedos run straight from the gearbox. so if you have the car staionary and your spinning the wheels up, even though you arnt going anywhere you speedo will still register a speed.

@PugMarshall2906 Because of the wheelspin. The speedomter is not digital, but connected to the frontwheels. It's so fast that wheelspin is unavoidable.. Even at high speed.

Nice car obviously engine swap as they never made right hand drive t16s and they are all 197 bhp and to hook the speedo up to the rev counter how do you manage that? they are cable driven on 205s direct from the box just a nice example of a good car.

If this is really a 205 T16 it's not FWD, it's AWD. The regular 205 was front-engine front wheel drive; the T16 was a Group B car; rear-mid engine, AWD. Just so you know. And they were insanely fast, at least off the line. Now you got me curious which it really is...

The T16 road car and turbo 16 rally car are the same car. Rear/mid engine, 4wd, spaceframe etc... it had to be the same car to pass homologation for Group B. The engine wasn't anywhere near as tuned but it was to all intents and purposes the same car.

Simply becasue the wheels are spinning and when he changes the gear, the speedo naturally drop according to the revs as the speedo cable is being driven by the gearbox. ;-)
I know u imply that the impulse cable from the tacho must be somehow connected to the speedo, but that cant be done as this car doesnt have an electric speedo, its cabledriven.

theres so many comments i could reply to here. firstly the 205 t-16 is 4wd and the engine is in the back. the quickest way to tell when looking at one is the exhaust silencer box is mounted sideways on and look through the back windscreen for a huge parcel shelf that covers the engine.
also ive owned 5 205's and not one had a single patch of rust on them. peugeots are dipped in a special solution prior to paint which prevents rust. the only way to make one rust is to chip the paint.
I can also include here that the T16 evo1 and 2 wouldn't been made in rally use if it wouldn't endure the easement.
It's only a delusion if you think all the peugeots are rotten piece of junk.
Peugeot GTI is an excellent car, it even beats the VW Golf GTI in the top gear review (watch it here from youtube), and not to mention the T16 is an excellent piece of handwork. It's small, it's fast, and out of doubt - Fun to try! :)

it always amazes me why people always bragg up lesser models, this is no t16 maybe an mi16 with a turbo plonked on it but defo not the reall deal the turbo lump is totaly diferent from the n/a lump ,besides its not that quick ive seen a throttle bodied mi16 shift the needle faster and that was running 230bhp @ the wheels

If this is really a 205 T16 it's not FWD, it's AWD. The regular 205 was front-engine front wheel drive; the T16 was a Group B car; rear-mid engine, AWD. Just so you know. And they were insanely fast, at least off the line. Now you got me curious which it really is...

@jasemat That's interesting...although it seems like false advertisement! Only one car, and one car along deserves the title "205 T16". If they have to mention the 16 valves and the turbo , why not call it the "205 Turbo-16", or the "205/16-Turbo"? That aside, now that I've watched this video again, this car really is pretty quick, huh? Jumping needle aside, it really picks up the speed. But wheelspin at 80mph? I've never seen anything like that. Is that normal?

Probably Mi16 engine with turbo, or T16 engine from Peugeot 405 and swapped under the hood of 205. Very common project really.
And actually you are wrong about the 205 T16 Group B car - it's called 205 Turbo 16.

The only time i took apart a speedocase were for a Cit BX and because ive had new dials cut in stainless steel for it to replace the original ones, and trust its no joke to get the needles right when putting them back on. LOL
So its deffo something i wouldnt waste my time with just to make a vid for yt. ;-)

The original 205 T16 road version had 200hp @6750rpm, 250nm @ 4000rpm and did 0-62mph in approx 7.5s.
If u stuff 50% more power in it, the torwue will raise accordingly, so this here sucker would be producing somewhere between 370-400nm.
So this vid doesnt seem to be fake at all, try and put 400nm on the frontwheels of your own 900kg hatchback and see what happens. ;-)

How do u actually swap the tacho to the speedo? This car has a cable driven speedo, not electric.
The stock clutch wont have any problems transmitting the 300hp, if anything u crash the gearbox or the driveshafts.
Besides if it were the clutch slipping, it would keep doing int in all the gears, and it doesnt.
Why would the media hear about it and show it on tv?!?
Theres no point for the media to cover all this, nor do they have the ressources.

The T16 road car and turbo 16 rally car are the same car. Rear/mid engine, 4wd, spaceframe etc... it had to be the same car to pass homologation for Group B. The engine wasn't anywhere near as tuned but it was to all intents and purposes the same car.

Simply becasue the wheels are spinning and when he changes the gear, the speedo naturally drop according to the revs as the speedo cable is being driven by the gearbox. ;-)
I know u imply that the impulse cable from the tacho must be somehow connected to the speedo, but that cant be done as this car doesnt have an electric speedo, its cabledriven.

theres so many comments i could reply to here. firstly the 205 t-16 is 4wd and the engine is in the back. the quickest way to tell when looking at one is the exhaust silencer box is mounted sideways on and look through the back windscreen for a huge parcel shelf that covers the engine.
also ive owned 5 205's and not one had a single patch of rust on them. peugeots are dipped in a special solution prior to paint which prevents rust. the only way to make one rust is to chip the paint.

I can also include here that the T16 evo1 and 2 wouldn't been made in rally use if it wouldn't endure the easement.
It's only a delusion if you think all the peugeots are rotten piece of junk.
Peugeot GTI is an excellent car, it even beats the VW Golf GTI in the top gear review (watch it here from youtube), and not to mention the T16 is an excellent piece of handwork. It's small, it's fast, and out of doubt - Fun to try! :)

The speedo drops when the clutch is engaged because traction is regained, then it drops right back to where it jumped in the loss of traction/grip, basic physics, go back to school then comment with a better education behind ya!

mine didnt come with the pipe was second or 13 hand to be exact, been through more hands than the amount of hats JK owns. That said was a hot hatch in its time but they are junk a face it anything french isnt well built, mind they did try with the renault safrane and the peugeot 605 but they still sucked. They are fun to drive i agree but im going to buy a german car next as the A8 is a proper car with real quality
